      @@GiddyKitty Professor Hindson commented: "I will be presenting 'And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope' to the composition students at the Conservatorium next semester as an exemplar in structure, mixing timbres, meters, modes, how to approach virtuosity, sound and noise, extended performance and techniques. The students will need to study 2 technical aspects of what Ne Obliviscaris have done in their music, and then use these techniques in their own classical music compositions."
      The Professor continues: "It is my pleasure to introduce such high quality music making to our students, alongside other music by composers including Beethoven, Gershwin, Steve Reich and Peter Sculthorpe. Musicians deserve to hear the music of Ne Obliviscaris, and the music of many other metal bands, in order to appreciate the compositional complexity that lies within it, no matter what their musical tastes."

    Cut and paste from the comment I made on the patreon release of this.
    Thank you so much for having a look at this, I had a feeling you would enjoy it a bit.
    Yes Parkway Drive are Australian as well.
    A couple of things about the band: First off they are all exceptional musicians who all bring something to the table when constructing their songs.
    Xen (the growl/scream vocalist) is the main founder of the band and writes most of the lyrics and does the album artwork, which is worth having a look at.
    Benjamin (the bald guitarist doing the solos on the blue guitar) is actually French and had trouble getting in to Australia on a music visa because our government at the time said he was not an exceptional talent. To be considered an exceptional talent you needed "to have performed with internationally known acts such as Disturbed or Metallica"

    Now I think I would recommend a 63-minutes song if I ever had a chance... But this is heavy legendary, revolutionary. Rana, what instruments have you tried to learn? Violin, guitar, flute, what else? Not only Arabic or Turkic music sounds like this violin. The beginning has a somewhat Caucasian vibe to me. That synchronized movement about 4:00 reminds me the guitarists in Accept - Teutonic terror. If you want to see more guitarists holding their guitars high, you should check that band called Oh Sees. Fun fact: this song could be split into at least 3 different song and nobody would notice that something is missing.

    These guys are great! The violinist/clean singer is called Tim.
    The scary growler is called Xenoyr or just Xen.
    The drummer is called Dan Presland.
    I love the whole contrasting look/sound/stage presence between Tim and Xen.
    The band focuses on contrasting themes throughout all their music.
    Look at the title of this one! "And plague ... Flowers the Kaleidoscope" you've got the dark and the light coming together in the title, and you see this in many of their other songs, for example "Of Petrichor Weaves ... Black Noise".
    Also Dan is an extremely well engineered drumming cyborg. All their songs are as intense as this, and he can play a 2hr set of this stuff nearly every night on tour.
    Crazy

    They crowdfunded their first world tour in like a day and a half. They were all like, "Aw, shucks, guys. We've never been out of Australia, and we really wanna do a world tour. So, like, maybe if you could help us that would be great", and everyone was like, "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!"

    Finally!! I’ve requested this a few times within this year. Glad you liked it. NeO is definitely in my top favorite bands. This song is in the music curriculum at Sydney music conservatory for composition among other things. Another great song by them is Devour me, Colossus.

  • @Enochulator
    @Enochulator 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    NeO is awesome! Super tight live, too. And also a pretty tame crowd, usually, so if metal concerts aren't your thing... you don't need to worry about people moshing around or whatever... Also, I think it's great that you're ragging on Tim Charles' goofy dancing. Two lefties too! Woo! New album coming soon(ish).

    its a great song, but it always really confuses me when i hear people gush about how nice these guys are, like is this not how bands normally act with their fans? every metal show ive ever been to the performers acted similarly.

    Oh.yeah, this is amazing! Congratulations to the guy who has recommendet it to you, he has pleased many people here! I agree, Ne obliviscaris is a great but also very underrated band... anyway I love this kind of atmospheric black metal, and I also agree with you that the combination of the different vocal styles is awesome and the violin gives it a very special vibe additionaly... A true masterpiece. But havn't you made a reaction to this band a few months ago yet? I could almost swear... Anyway, I love your reaction and open minded feeling to this song! Rana rules:-)❤

      @@GiddyKitty Oh yes, now I remember... Yeah, this is what I would call their style, but I also think that in the metal scene it is called like that... Anyway, I think they are quite unique and I really love it!

      @@GiddyKitty tough band to classify really. There are elements of melodic/atmnospheric black metal in Xen's vocals. But the band is classified as Progressive Melodic Death Metal generally. I hate categorizing bands like this, they deserve better than being stuffed into a box. *waves to Chaotic Old Bore*

    I don't think you have enough background and knowledge to fully appreciate how great this song (and this band in general) is.
    Don't take it wrong tho, I myself have listened to Metal and so much more for years and years yet I don't think I have enough either ahah
    There is so much to talk about, technically, musically or even historically. So much happening on each instruments.
    And I'm not saying this for nothing, this song was actually studied at the Sydney conservatorium (not sure about the name but it's the elite school for music XD) so when you know that experts and students gathered around to study a song, it probably means that us mere mortals can't grasp the whole thing :p

    • @GiddyKitty
      @GiddyKitty  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Holy shit really?what did they study about it?? That's pretty cool actually..

    • @FlipperWolf
      @FlipperWolf 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I don't remember the full details, I heard that a while ago ^^
      I think it had something to do with how they mix classical elements of composition with modern forms of Metal or something like that, not sure ahah
