In the Netherlands they have these prepaid sim cards that you can buy and don't have to register. Ten years ago, the eu tried to force registration for those using "terrorism" as excuse. But a local judge ruled that it went against some of the privacy laws. Actually, "Non smart" phones sales are on the rise again and no "terrorists" in sight.

I finally ditched windows about 6 weeks ago for Linux Mint 22. It’s a steep learning curve for me but well worth it. I hadn’t used Linux in 20 years, it’s radically different from what I remember lol. My computer feels twice as fast now and it’s so stable. I should have done this years ago. Recall was the last straw for me.
I use a few tools to keep my Windows 11 free from all the bloatware telemetry and other Microsoft Garbage, but I have been getting encouraged to switch to Linux. What would you say was your biggest hurdle with switching to Mint? I use my PC primarily for gaming, so my first concern is hardware compatibility and driver functionality.
@ I’ve seems of videos on how great Linux gaming is, but I haven’t been a serious gamer for a couple of decades. Every time I tried serious gaming on windows 10 or 11 it invariably borked one of the major apps I use for work. My main apps are creative. DaVinci Resolve studio, Inkscape, the Gimp, handbrake, virtual machines and now I’m getting into installing local AI apps. I am going to try out some gaming again. If you decide to try Linux, make sure the first two things you do after installation is update your packages and setup Time Shift and set it to automatically backup your system folders hourly until you get comfortable with Linux. I borked my system several times, but restoring from Time Shift snapshots is quick and easy. Linux mint has a very similar GUI to windows 10 and even uses most of windows keyboard shortcuts.
@9:39 Imagine if Super Mario Bro's made you grind flowers for an hour before you could get fire Mario. Videogames never would have had a reawakening. Videogames are about having fun. The current software applications that tend to go for sale on app stores like Steam resemble videogames less and less every day. They are afterschool/afterwork chores that are occasionally marked with moments of fun.
You don't need to look further then to all of the classic videogames people still play today. By large none of them have anything that resembles grind, besides for the cult classic JRPGs. Developers these days refuse to learn from the trailblazers who made 3D videogames successful in the first place. Games like Super Mario 64 (platformer), GTA 3 Trilogy (rpg), Minecraft (sandbox).
I have a 4500 DVD collection I started in 2000. Bargain bins, garage sales and Ebay lots. No regrets. Though Ebay stopped taking my payment method so not more shopping there. I really hope the majority reject W11. So much very serviceable equipment will end in landfills otherwise.
When I had to replace my 2003 Crown Vic, I paid a premium for a nice 2004 Grand Marquis. I can't imagine owning any cars newer than that. The Toyota Corolla I had to drive for a month was horrible.
