    THE inspiration for me to become a paratrooper. My 11-year-old self locked onto those maroon berets and never let go. Truly love this (err...less than perfect) film. Oddly enough, it changed my life. Yaneverknow...

      Thank you for your service sir. I too am a vet. All I ever did of mention was being member of honor guard worlds largest air force base. NICE and safe. Sad though too many funerals in 1974

      i wanted to be a para after watching this and the 80s documentary "the paras" but i wasnt hard/fit enough and i went for the money in the city in the end. i became a millionaire but i often regret not being a para

    My parents took me to see this in the cinema.. I was 10 years old. A pretty traumatising and confusing plot at the time! I appreciate it more 40+ years later.

    by Joan Armatrading. I still loving it the most. I could saying which is the unforgetable movie in the rest of my life.

    I love how trailers back then used to give you the entire plot of the damn film in one bite, and the concept of 'spoilers' never entered anyone's head.

      Amen to that brother. I hate it when these adolescents today think nothing of giving the end of the movie away. It's the same way with books. "Back in my day" it was almost a criminal offense to give away the endings to books and movies. Today young people have no values or respect. Perfect example is those audio terrorists in those "boomer cars". Social predators right there next to rapists and child molesters. This is why so many kids on college campuses support Palestinian terrorists and Jew haters. We've gone from the Greatest Generation to the generation of degenerates.

    Come to think of it,this movie maybe the first to show the Uzi sub-machinegun in cinema action.The 1980s showed the uzi in films(like "The Terminator")and if this movie was '78,than it's the very 1st.

    this is a true CLASSIC movie and PREDESSOR of MERCENARY MOVIES LIKE THE EXPANDEBELS ETC.,which we watch today.the action sequences were exciting,it is also a Heart Touching movie and the conversation regarding white nd black men between Hardy Cruger (COETZEE) AND Winston Ntshona(PRESIDENT LIMBANI) was excellent.Mercenary Movie Lovers should watch this one. HATS OFF!

    I was in a pub years ago and this bloke got talking to me saying he was ex military etc etc, I can smell a BS’ter a mile away. He said he did this and that and worked as a mercenary… I still didn’t buy him a drink which he was after to tell me more of his adventures lol. The moment he mention he was rescuing a fella called President Limbani, I told him his adventure was like the movie lol. His come back was he did that a few years ago in the 90’s hahahahhaha.
    Fantastic movie, saw it when first released on my 14th birthday, can quote this movie as seen so many times now and still will 👍

    Personally I'd carry a Mossberg 590 with a variety of slug..00 buck 004 buck etc. 4 boxes each. A lot of weight. In CZECH bread bags and 50 rd bandoluers. Load up the troops with yugo ska riflez2t0 eds ea. And 16 rifle grenades each....yeah I love these movies. For an arm chair warrior these are great to watch
