- Nothing is better than steak, yes we all agree on this. Do you think it is possible to make a vegan steak as good as a real steak? Today I give my best shot trying out a vegan steak which I put against 2 beautiful prime steaks.

@Logan Waltz nah a lot of vegan food is awesome.
Chickpeas as a Falafel, Hummus, or "Burger" would work well, but for something like a vegan steak I don't think it would hold up too well in the "Meatiness" area. Something more in the lines of Pea Protien( like Beyond, Impossible, Etc type products) or a Seitan would work better for a steak since you get more of the meaty chewiness. I think it would also be easier to mimic the meat flavors with those methods as well- SauceStache and AvanteGuardVegan have some great vegan steak recipes for a real test. I have had some really good chicken style seitans, and seitan "Beef" jerkys.

They did impossible or beyond burger one time and ninja loved it. Most people love it, I didn't like it personally but I'd encourage people to try it. It had a weird smell to me.
The best meatball sandwich I've ever had was made of impossible meat. Still very much a carnivore, but I was impressed.

I've seen some people on TH-cam make some great looking vegan steaks. I think Guga did the bare minimum here lol. Also, not enough wheat gluten (seitan). It's mostly chickpea in that "steak". 😆
I think the problem with this is that the seitan doesn't have the fibers meat usually has, and that means that you can't easily add lard or coconut oil or a very thick cooked oil-flour-water mix (with very little water, to make a water roux when it cools down), to imitate the lard of normal meat (because the 3-letter word starting with F and ending with AT gets the messages hidden/shadowbanned by youtube), to give it that juiciness normal meat has.
You didn't make seitan, you made a vegetable paste, or puree, which you then cooked into a slab/brick of puree or vegetable paste.
Now dry age it and try again after 60 days.
