Imagine being in that little girl’s position. Deserted foreboding canyon with no one else around for ages, surrounded by the undead, locking your dad in a closest because he’s been possessed and is dangerous, and the moon about to crash and wipe it all out. Damn
I love the story of Hitchbot. He went coast to coast in Canada, and when he was gonna do the same in America, he was immediately beaten to death in Philadelphia.
10:13 I heard that “Speeeeeen”. That and Johnny being in the background of an earlier Vinny highlight (featuring David Hayter) feels like a nice little full circle thing.
The theories about the Ikana Region's history is just so fascinating because the region already fell to ruin before Skull Kid got the mask meaning they aren't fully victims of skull kid, what happened to the region was the fault of the people what Skull Kid is doing is basically playing with a corpse
It's reminiscent of the Bottom of the Well in Ocarina of Time. Ganondorf didn't even need to touch that because Hyrule's past has enough bloodshed already.
13:10. Poor Pamela. Being all alone with her father being cursed and turned into a Gibdo. Imagined all the suffering she must have went through.. Healing her father with the Song of Healing and seeing those two finally reunited and hug each other after everything they went through has got the be another most heartwarming moments in the game for me. It's gets me everytime. :'(
honestly what's even worse is we don't even know how long she's been out there for all we know she could have been stuck in there with her half dead father for weeks hopefully it only happened right before link got there
Majora's Mask Fun Fact #28: Pamela's Father can be attacked, As Matt said if you try to hit Pamela's Father normally, Pamela will run in and shield her father, all while her father keeps trying to reach for you, Pamela will then try to push her father away which the sight of her drives him crazy before hed cower back to his closet. The Gilded Sword has just enough reach that you can hit him with it with specific attacks, and he even has unique hurt animations (you monster) Also, funfacts aside for a minute, The situation with Pamela and her Father always hit me the most out of every scenario in Majora's Mask, having a love one be heavily changed or injured by something out of your control and living with who they've become, its never easy to see it and especially to live through it, stay strong my friends
Fun fact: if you synchronize it well, you can use the clock on the Postman's wall to get that Heart Piece without the Bunny Hood a little more easily. It rotates every second on normal game speed. I should note, I only discovered this on the 3DS version. Not sure how well it works on N64.
Sorry for the short break on skits, but this one hopefully will make up for it. *Our four heroes are sitting around a campfire with Link finishing telling the journey he went on beforehand.* Link: So afterwards I entered termina and I got fused to Deku, you guys can assume the rest.. Darmani: Geez kid that’s, awful.. Mikau: Imagine being out of control of your own life, being forced to destiny. I don’t think I’d handle it. Link: How do you think I feel! I just want to live a normal life but I ended up in another mess… *Link solemnly looks down, as Deku puts his hand on Link’s back*. Deku: Hey, at least you’re not alone, if it wasn’t for you freeing me from your body we would’ve been stuck together forever and the princess would’ve still been captured! Darmani: Yea, if you didn’t show up my tribe would’ve been stuck in an eternal winter, well temporarily at least, this time travel stuff is at least keeping that on hold. Mikau: Big dudes right, despite everything you’re still doing your best to help everyone, and best of all, you’re not alone this time. *Link gains a slight smile before looking into the distance towards Ikana canyon.* Link: Thanks guys, we only have one place left to go before Termina can truly be safe, let’s go.
3:17 unless they're terminators in which case we're all completely f***ed. 15:13 oh no it gets worse! Pamela has a thief nearby to worry about and she doesn't have a gun!
that father still scares the heck out of me with how it jump scares me when i'm about to forget.(also yeah the girl really was in a horrible situation seeing her father basically turning into a zombie slowly with no one to help for miles and the mummies surrounding you are telling you to hand him over so they can likely tear you apart alongside the moon falling.) a anime adaptation of the zelda mangas would be cool to see.(could be a cool anthology series for each game.:3)
3:31 It was actually HitchBot that traveled across CANADA, before coming stateside and then meeting its untimely end in Philadelphia; Pope Bot was created to take its place.
I was today years old when I found out that you can use the stone mask to just waltz past Pamela. I always waited at the other side of the house for her to turn the corner.
I think Ikana Canyon stands out a lot because even in this game, it seems to break a lot of the established conventions of Zelda. I can't think of another Zelda area that focuses so heavily on the dead. Plus, you DON'T get a transformation mask here - every other region is associated with a transformation, but not here. It's just you and the dead. In short, Ikana rocks!
Being able to thank the bus driver is such a nice touch, it’s wholesome to imagine that it happens more often in real life because kids are doing it because it’s popular in Fortnite.
Soooooo. Alternate scene time! If you take too long or attack, Pamela runs in to stop you. The dad will then have a flash of his daughter's face, run back into the closet, crouch and start shaking. Pamela will then scold you and ask you to leave. Not many people see this scene. It's pretty nuts.
To talk about music like early on in the video, I remember when i listened to Bury the Light for the first time i practically put that song on repeat for a whole year. I think its my most listened to track in anything. TH-cam, Amazon music
btw, not sure if anyone said that, but you don't need the Garo's Mask to enter Ikana Canyon. The guy will accept any "spooky" mask, which includes the Captain's Hat which you can get right by the canyon entrance... But since the Garo Mask let's you fight the Garo it IS still good to go get it at least. Also as far as I know, the Gibdo Mask also works, but it's redundant since you get that IN the canyon itself
Am I the only one who found the gibdo mask a bit of a troll move? When I first got it, I thought it'd be a transformation mask because we got it the exact same way as the Goron and Zora masks; play the song of healing to help someone of a different species. I'm glad it's not a transformation mask, because HOLY shit that'd be a situational ass mask.
I think majora at least cursed ikana's dead to feel restless, if not to also be undead period, and normally they wouldn't be as pissed to any living person stepping in the canyon
Dark Souls is at its toughest when you don't know what's coming, as obvious as that might sound. It's about being presented that challenge and finding ways to overcome it with your plethora of options available. Dark Souls isn't *hard*, it's *challenging*. With exposure, it gets easier. Like anything else. I don't mean to sound like *that guy*, it's just that it does kinda stick in my craw whenever people bemoan Souls games for their difficulty. Like, yeah, that's kinda the point. That'd be like playing a Zelda game and complaining about having to solve so many puzzles. Like, if that's not what you enjoy, that's perfectly fine and fair.
Don't forget about online features, such as player messages making your life easier or harder depending on the intentions of their authors, and co-op. Gamers are proud, so asking for someone's help isn't something they would feel proud of doing, but I can safely say that if it weren't for some really nice people, I wouldn't have beaten Manus and Kalameet in DS1. EDIT: Also, DS1 is very slow by the franchise's modern standards, after Bloodborne introduced faster gameplay, every Fromsoft game had its gameplay sped up too, that could be the key to solving Matt's problem, DS3 is pretty fast and Elden Ring ain't slow too.
@@marcellosilva9286 Very true. That's something I often fail to consider, since I've played all these games multiple times. Going from Bloodborne to DS1 or even Demon's Souls can be one *hell* of a speed difference. You go through the whole game being able to block or almost leisurely roll around bosses, but then you get to the DLC and suddenly everything is fast and aggressive as shit.
Dude, I don't want one, I love Dark Souls but there would be a lot of negativity and misinformation in that LP, and the fact that Johnny lucked out on his review playthrough (which is probably the only time he's played the game), he wouldn't know what to do without that Black Knight Sword he got as a drop.
Ohhh good you got a powder keg. Please if anyone is playing majoras mask, BEFORE YOU GO THROUGH THE GHIBDO WELL GET A POWDER KEG! You will not be able to finish the next area without using one in the most unfair design decision in this entire game. No warning given to the game about this and sgb didn’t talk enough about this but PLEASE GET A POWDER KEG!
tbf you're encouraged to restock on everything every new cycle. even if you get there without a powder keg, it only takes a few minutes to get one and come back.
Said before and I'll say it again. I personally find it bizarre for Matt to like Nioh but not Souls. No offence of course as I know plenty who love Nioh more but they typically like Souls too. Nioh is known to be pretty cheap or bullshitty at times. Especially the first one. Maybe Sekiro would be more enticing. Or perhaps Nioh's combat speed is where the enjoyment is taken from as it's significantly faster than Souls. Then Bloodborne or Dark Souls 3/Elden Ring may be more appropriate as the attack speed of those games is faster for the player. Still don't think Souls is that hard and its difficulty is overrated. Not because of me, but my brother who's not very good at action games managed to complete Dark Souls 1 and 2. And he couldn't beat Blade Wolf from Metal Gear Rising on normal so let that sink in.
Okay so I found a glitch here when I played the game back then. Somehow I did not know or knew the Song of Storms at the time and for the life of me, annoyed the crud out of me as a kid trying to figure out where to learn the song and remember it. Only to give up and said, "Forget it, I know the notes maybe I can by pass it." So enter the cave where this guy is and played the Song of Storms...And somehow...the game registered as if I knew the song! But I did not know the song and was able to clear out this place and get the water flowing for the music to send the Gibdos away...I don't know how I managed it and not sure if it was a glitch. Cause next thing I knew once I opened up my song list...it was there registered. I wonder...can anyone try and replicate this glitch? And if it works...then speed runners your all welcome lol. But if it doesn't work...then HOW the heck did I managed to do it 0_0

Ah yes, the origin of Bob
Deku Nuts rock against the Poe Sisters. Not only does it stun, but it also forces them out of their invisibility.
Never knew that! Thank you for this info~!
At least in Ocarina of Time. Doesn't seem to work in Majora's Mask.

Rest in piece Hitchbot.
Whenever I see the Garo in this game, the only thing I can think of is Bob from SMG4. All their lines I read in my head with Bobs voice.
When Greg was talking about Pumpkins my alternative rock brain was like "AH AH, he said it he said it!"
3:31 It was actually HitchBot that traveled across CANADA, before coming stateside and then meeting its untimely end in Philadelphia; Pope Bot was created to take its place.
You see the autopsy for Hitchbot. He was beaten with a blunt object, stabbed, shot at with paintball, and then stabbed again.
I was today years old when I found out that you can use the stone mask to just waltz past Pamela. I always waited at the other side of the house for her to turn the corner.
"Remember the four Poe sisters from the Forest Temple? They're back! In pog form!!"
Nummy, cuz I'm hankerin' for that Chateau Romani.
03:52 SMG4 has ruined me. I can never see Spikes from Mario or the Garo the same way.
Or Jawful from SMRPG called Jub Jub, the enemies with the Fork.
Mannnnn. I did not expect a Pokimane roast lol. "Like...if you're a broke Deku just say so"
The blue background Smashing Pumpkins albums could either be Atum, Oceania, or Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

Ikana Canyon. Easily the most lore heavy area
