Hooray for the live auto focus and a spectacular kit lens! I'm buying this camera once the new alpha 35 comes out to replace and rebut the 33 because everyone will flock to that one and this'll be SOOOO much cheaper!
It amazes me at how many reviewers do NOT understand how the SLT system works, including this reviewer. First off, the translucent mirror doesn't reflect ANY information to the electronic viewfinder. It reflects it to the A33's excellent AUTOFOCUS sensor. Secondly, the electronic viewfinder gets it's information DIRECTLY from the main sensor, which receives 70% of the light, not 50% as is stated here. Lastly, it would be nice if the camera had a low light autofocus lamp, which it doesn't.
@VELOC1RAPT0R yeah, the A35 doesn't seem too much better at all. I'd rather go with the A33 with the articulating LCD screen. BTW, does anyone know what lenses are good to go with it? I'm a newb lol
@mbielchris if you want video time get a camcorder. both are great for what they were designed to do, thats take pictures. i would do some more research.. maing differences are a33 has an EVF, and boast 7fps
@mbielchris you'd be surprised. With 7fps you can shoot anything in motion. Whether its birds, wildlife, pets, people talking and laughing.. 7fps, Cameras twice the price can't do that. Just keep in mind buddy, that dlsr cameras are made for photos. U can record at most 15-20 minutes. If your shooting camera you will need something with good continuous AF. Go to the store hold them, play with menus, see what you like better and go from there
guys i have a question here, do u have any experience with the canon 55D too? Im really doubting wich of the 2 to get, both are excelent dlsr (or slt for the a33) and they don't really have deciding factor to me, though im tending towards the 550d because of a little longer video time, more options in resolution and frame rates and a tat more battery life
@JussBL4ZE i want to primairly take great pictures ofc, but i would love to have good video aswel so i don't have to buy another expensive camera, i can see being an EVF can be an advantage and so is the tilting screen, i don't care about the fps, i don't think i'll be usuing it since im not gonna photograph sport or anything that will need that, though the full time phase detection autofocus is nice both have very good options and this makes me hard to decide, i guess ill just buy the cheapest
This is not a full fledge dslrs that professionals would want to use. It's just like every other entry level dslrs except its an SLT. Stop talking about the marketing gibberish. It's not an upgrade to the NEX either.
Makes great photos - stiil, after 10 years. You might need a new battery (ca. USD 10, prob. incl shipping). Very pleasant to use. I got myself also a 2nd hand 55mm-200mm lens, which then covers basically all I need for relatively little money.

if you want super fast auto focus and high burst rate, buy an SLT and if you want a good still image quality, buy an SLR :)

How outdated is this camera?
