I love how Big John and Rose showed their professionalism in this. Big John knew Joanna was done before she even tapped, and Rose immediately let go just after a light tap by Big John. John didn’t need to jump in and Rose didn’t need to be pulled off.
Big John has actually said he was either injured or coming off of some kind of surgery and didn't have the mobility and strength to pull Rose off, and this is actually the fight that made him eventually decide to retire from refereeing.
3:01 when the knockdown happens, you can see the photographer's behind the cage perfectly synchronised in immediately swapping out their zoom lenses cameras to closer ones. Kind of cool.
I remember this fight card. That finish was insane, what she did was really high-level stuff. Closing the distance, switching angle, while throwing a hook all at once. Even if the hook didn't land, Joanna was going to be in serious trouble with combos probably dropping her down. I really like Thug Rose, under Trevor Wittman she's really grown as a fighter alongside training with Usman and Gaethje.
Couldn't have been a better first card to watch, I saw jones vs. dc 2 when fights were still live on youtube and got intrigued by mma then 217 made me a fan forever

Heck of a way of humbling a cocky fighter!!! What really fascinates me is Rose knew she owned Joanna mentally and proved it physically the only way possible when actions speak louder than words and strong mentality trumps arrogance and haughtiness. Hats off to Rose and the great example she's set for combat sports. Humility, hard training and keeping both feet on the ground are always the way forward.

It was, considering the fact Rose won by strikes was what made the result all the more shocking. The narrative going into this fight was that Rose's only chance was her grappling and submissions skills, she was still known for being a grappler (with some good kicks) while it was believed Joanna had a very clear overall advantage on the feet. As we know, that narrative was turned completely on its head. Rose winning by KO/TKO was the least predictable outcome.
