that yellow fever vaccination thing is no joke, thats actually a HUGE deal. Yellow fever is a really big problem in Brazil and has been for a little while now. Getting it is really REALLY bad, like some major league nightmare stuff, so getting those vaccinations to the people who can afford it the least and are at highest risk is really cool.

I remember in middle school, while waiting for the bus, I would wait in a class room with others. Being bored, and without a phone, I'd just pick up trash. The teacher would occasionally hand out candy for me picking up trash, but then a dude would just rub his sack on my head while I'm bending over. One time when he did that I just headbutted him in the nads. He complains to the teacher, but the "teacher saw nothing". No more issues from that dude.

For the bullying one I was taught a rule. A step by step plan of how to deal with bullies
1.tell an adult/teacher (so you can’t get crap for the next steps)
2.tell them to stop (diplomacy is to be attempted, make sure you outnumber them)
3.(if it continues) beat them till they can’t stand
You can’t get in trouble because adults knew and it was “self defence”

It's kind of sad to see that a lot of teachers won't do anything if a kid tells them they are being bullied. I was bullied in 7th grade and I had rumours tossed around me for a while. I mean, it wasn't as bad as some other kids had it, I was being shipped with all of my friends but I didn't like it. I tried whole ignoring thing but it didn't work at all. My breaking point was when one of my classmates started to write a *fanfic. A *fanfic*. I came home from school crying, told my mum and she emailed my teacher and my teacher put a stop to it immediately. There was one other incident after with the whole shipping thing but after that it basically stopped. I'm sorry to hear that some people don't have that kind of support though.
While I still think that it was kind of embarrassing that the shipping felt like bullying, it really did take a toll on my mental health. My best friend that I knew since junior kindergarten (6/7 years) ditched me for reasons unknown to me, although I suspect it has something to do with that.
So please, if anyone who reads this actually ships real people, just don't. It's ok to pair up fictional characters but not real people.
tl;dr: got bullied, teacher put an end to it, dont ship real ppl bc it actually messes with them and their network of friends

I worked at a school that I knew had a bullying problem. I was the secretary but I was determined to do what I could to stop bullying in that school. I was able to discuss certain behaviour with some parents but never really anything bullying until one day I got a call from a mother clearly upset and frustrated, turned out her son had been bullied for over three years and he was so upset that he wouldn't even talk to me about it. Long story short I took details from the boy and made sure something got done, turns out the bully was the cause of most of the bullying in the school, he was suspended and when that happened his gang fell apart so in helping that one kid I helped several and that kid went on to do well in his exams. An all round win.

Nah, I never got help from staff about bullying. I had to deal with it myself. Well, the first I dealt with myself but I was younger then and had more confidence than I do now. The first guy had a crush on some girl and I just made friends with her and it stopped. She was P2, I was P1 so I just had to act cute and I was in her friendship group for a little while until he'd moved targets. I made friends with the right people and since then, they've sort of been protecting me from other bullies. I haven't managed to stand up for myself since.

The Brazil Robinhood one can be very easily manipulated, and it’s unfortunate that the possibility that the guy who did it just wanted people in his corner to not rat him out to the authorities.
It’s not like this wasn’t done before, especially in Brazil and in South American countries; the local mobs would fund road construction, schools, hospitals, and general infrastructure.

Back in elementary school I was being bullied pretty badly by several students. I told the teachers, but being elementary there was not much they could do besides tell them to stop, which didn't work. Now here is the thing, I was doing karate at the time, but our teacher was pretty clear about never doing anything of what we learned outside of tournaments, so I obliged and simply remained patient. Till one time one of the kids stole my backpack, I chase him and it ended up with him trowing it outside the walls and we both going to the principal's office. She had us both sitting on front of her desk, asking questions and figuring out the course of events. She then looked at me, straight at the eyes and told me. "I don't want to see you here again unless it was because you beat the crap out of him. He is going to learn the weight of your fist or you are going to learn the limits of my patience"
Now that, that was pretty effective to stop the bullying.

The Panara Bread in my college town used to have a routine regarding trash. They would bag up all the day old bread/pastries. Place the bag on a ledge next to the dumpster. Go back inside to gather the rest of the trash and sweep. Come back outside to toss the non-edible trash and, in the unlikely event that the bread bag was still there, put it in the dumpster. Some agency got on them and then they placed the bag in the dumpster before doing the rest of the routine.

So this big red kangaroo (they can get about 7 foot tall), came slowly into my garden (lots of green grass), moving in that kind of crouch they do. I watched as my cat Tabitha stalked him behind a bush, ready to take on this critter. Tabitha leaps out, kangaroo straightens up into 7 foot giant, and halfway through her leap decided "really REALLY bad idea" and somehow did a right angle turn away in mid air; kangaroo took two bounds and was off into the horizon. Hospitals after a patient who uses blankets as well as pillows often just throw them away or inveterate them, I remember being in the hospital for 3 weeks once for a giant blood clot when I was 17, my mom visited me every few days and I sent her home with blankets every single time, she taught kindergarten at that time and some kids that would come to school came in so tired because their parents weren’t great people, so my mom out of kindess would give the kids in her class 1 hour of nap time even though she wasn’t supposed to, no one in the school ratted her out to the board and her boss the principal let her do this without making a fuss, she had enough blankets after my 3 week stay at the hospital to reuse for her entire class as long as she washed them often, it was the most good I’ve ever seen come from so many people at one time and warms my heart to this day

Regarding the bullying one... telling the teacher actually DOES help. At least in my experience. But it also depends on the teacher. If you have a teacher with a "No tattle telling" policy which is stupid it won't do crap and will likely cause you to get in trouble rather than the bully. But if you have a teacher who actually cares about the well being of their students and has a strict no bullying policy that teacher is going to get shit done! This goes for parents too by the way. There's the no tattle tell kind who want you to learn to stand up for yourself which is actually likely to get you seriously injured or worse or the actual good parent that will go talk to the other kid's parents.
Side note: While standing up for yourself can be a good thing in some situations where you'd be in no real danger it is totally OK to ask for help when you clearly have no chance of standing up against a bully on your own. Case in point when I was about 4 or 5 years old, my brother would of been 9 or 10 at the time. We would get bullied by these older kids who use to live on our road... they were in high school at the time. At least 5 to 7 years older than my brother and 10 to 12 years older than me. My brother is mentally disabled and would actually try to fight back apparently not realizing he never stood a chance. I would run back home and tell our parents two older boys were outside bullying my brother. They would of bullies me too if I didn't run the hell away from there.
Also in the 3rd grade there were two 8th graders who kind of looked like Bulk and Skull from the Power Rangers that would bully me and my friend. I have some repressed trauma I can't remember involving those two. Usually I would just run away and tell a teacher, they'd come break up the fight and they'd get in HUGE trouble for picking on much younger kids half their size... and I've always been the biggest kid in my grade level, these two were still bigger than me due to the fact they were in a higher grade level and had apparently been held back a few years so they were even older than most 8th graders since they should of graduated already. On two separate occasions I saw them gang up on my friend, once during school and a second time as we were walking to his house. (He lived close enough to the school that we could just walk to his house from the school.) There was another incident in a bathroom I can't remember details of... but I'm still terrified of public restrooms because of it. Standing up to them wouldn't do shit, what are you going to do to someone who's stronger than you are? Annoy them then get your ass kicked more.
Basically... some times telling a teacher or parent is in fact your best and ONLY option.

I remember in sixth grade my friend forgot his goalie gloves after football practice. So when I went to get them and an upperclassman had the gloves. When I asked for them back he said “no” and started walking away with them. As he walked off I got a running start, grabbed the gloves from his hands and ran back to my friends. I don’t know if I ever told them what exactly happened, but the upperclassman never said or did anything to me after that.

    >Bullies get away with it because teachers don't give a crap.
...Not necessarily true, yet also true. But it requires a certain... situation. Like being the son of a teacher who works in the district.
7th grade... there was a bully who wouldn't let up, in class. Teacher did nothing, students did nothing. Went on for a while, kept escalating. One day I decided to ignore him. He did not like that I was looking away from him, so he hit me. In class. As soon as class was done, I immediately went to the Vice Principal's office, and told him I was hit in class. As the VP knew my mom, who worked for the district, well, he took care of it. Later that week, during gym, I was told to sit in the bleachers. I did as such, and the bully came to the bleachers, wouldn't look at me, and apologized. He then walked away, and I never saw him again for the rest of the year, anywhere on campus. Expelled, from what I assume. The middle school was set up so that half of it was 7th grade the other half was 8th grade. It was really hard to miss seeing other people, and I NEVER saw the guy again.
Don't know if the teacher faced any action for letting it happen in her class, allowing it to escalate like that. And the students in that class avoided looking me in the eye after that. Either out of shame for not doing anything or what I don't know. Generally, I did get treated like crap in 7th grade, being a quiet kid who kept to himself (if I ever went to the bathroom, the students would hide my backpack in the class), but after that event, I got totally left alone.
There were perks for having a mom as a teacher. Generally you didn't get messed with, and if you did seriously get messed with, the hammer came down hard on those who did. I never looked to start anything.

Many years ago I worked as a bicycle messenger- stopped at this little goth clothing shop that just opened in Toronto- as I was looking for a gift for my GF. I saw this what looked to be a homeless guy stuffing a giant bag with these beautiful clothes while the girl was in the backroom. I grabbed him by the throat and started punching him and force him to "nicely" hang them back up. Just as we were finishing I looked over and told the girl what was happening. Then threw him out the door and told him to never come back. Turned out the little girl was the owner and she hand made EVERYTHING(so you can imagine the loss would be for her) felt good. Turned out her and bubby became good friends and months later helped patch me up after a BAD crash.

We had a friend who was out of money for a few days before payday and had nothing to eat. My gf made lasagne and we told him we made too much. He refused to eat any, but we told him it would go to waste if he didn't eat some. He was very thankful to us and others after the fact.
Fast forward decades later, he refused to meet me when I was visiting people back home. It was a good act wasted on a bad person. I don't regret the act. I regret that it could have helped someone else more deserving.

Eventually they got wise and called the cops. Cops an old timer, obviously former army by his hair cut and ramrod straight back. Asks me if I did it. I tell him yeah and why. He goes to the neighbor and just tells him, “Maybe you shouldn’t have a dog.”

now this might sound not real but i promise if anything isn’t real, it should be the amount of lag i had during it.
So was playing the one airfield mission in coop on Modern Warfare (the 2019 version), and was lagging a lot.
Evac time comes, first 2 guys get to helo, and then last guy goes down.
Queue my machine gun firing, and some smoke bombs.
Grab teammate, get clapped myself but teammate grabs me, get into big truck and fire away with the mounted MG as we leave in style.
TL:DR teammate goes down i get them up bring them to evac alone.
still the best match of that i’ve ever played.

So basically one of my friends found a quarter and we all agreed that one of us HAD to give them the quarter, so I grabbed the quarter and walked over to them, the problem was that they weren't sitting at a table but these huge stairs that kids would sit on for lunch so me being the idiot i am i place the quarter on 5s lap =-= and the whole time i didn't make eye contact with any of them but I think they finally took an interest in our friend group so...
