Great to see someone put his saw through its paces. It’s a nifty piece of kit, I’ve the one (not the plus, so no dust bag). Using wood only, the cutting blade will last for ages. However, a quick healthy & safety tip, the instructions say don’t stack materials up, even if they are clamped as they may bind on the blade and move. 😊

@@TheImprovementChannel you’re welcome, I wouldn’t want you to hurt yourself. We are going to have a go a cutting some metal in the spring, as you make it look so easy, but of course we know there’s more to it than just popping it onto the table 😉. All the very best and hope you’re ok, with this artic storm some are enduring😢.

Thanks for the vid. I've been questioning the capabilities of this saw because like you said, the mitering feature is so much better than moving the material around.

I have this same saw. I purchased it solely for metal cutting. I was disappointed that it didn't include the front clamp so I contacted evolution to get one. They told me that this saw was designed for 80% wood and 20% metal, and that they didn't recommend using it for may application. The metal chips are terrible, but the saw cuts great.

I bought one a couple of years ago and quickly realised it is essentially a DIY tool, blades don't last long cutting laminate flooring. If you only cut wood, forget the high priced Evolution blades and buy a better cheaper one, you will need one that comes with a reducer ring as Evolution use an odd size. Watching this vid I was waiting for the dust bag to ignite lol.

Never cut L angle like that, always place the standing leg against the fence, if you have no other alternative place a board cut to fill the void and clamp against fence. I saw where it rocked a little, thatll kill your carbide tips quicker than anything.

  • @Jandejongjong

put your saw in a sort of box.. where the metal stilcks out. but the debri stays in.. and use magnets. in a plasticbag. now remove the magneyt out of the bag and the metal will fall in your bin

Hi everyone. Have any of you checked if your saw's bed is completely flat? I have put straight edge across mine and found centre table to sit slightly proud to side supports. I found this fault immediately after taking it off the box. It's slightly better after removing stickers but still far from perfect. Did you encounter this issue with yours?

I'm considering replacing my "best quality ever" 1990's Ryobi basic miter saw. I've been using it as a metal chop say but the table has rusted and will no longer adjust. Good excuse for a upgrade. This is interesting.

Good video. I bought this saw 6 months ago and like you, I thought the blade it came with would cut metal. I then learned that that blade is only rated for unistrut and copper pipe etc, and that's why it wore out so quickly on you (as it did for me). You mentioned that you were going to pick up the blue mild steel blade the next day for $55~. Did you ever get that, and did it make a difference? I need to do a job with box section next weekend and I can't find any reviews on youtube for that blue blade on the 10" chop saw. Interested to hear your thoughts if you did. Thanks
