This is why Jeff needed an MC. Breeze was the MC for Cash Money. Before Parents don't understand or Girls of the world aint nuthin but trouble. Jeff and Cash used to got to WAR. These are legendary DJ Battles
Jeff used to rock with Cool Breeze Steve I thought. Maybe I'm wrong. I recall him being on an old Jazzy Jeff mixtape that I had from 85 from a show they did in Jersey with Schoolly D.
They are both exciting to listen to and unpredictable, its not your painting by numbers style of scratching, both very musical scratchers and jugglers. Even this decades old mix gets you on the edge of your seat and is still jaw droppingly advanced to this day, I can listen to the whole thing over and over and not get bored whereas I zone out of a lot of these modern DJ routines as they have a certain format to them which is pre-planned and although technical, not as impressive in many ways as there is no real identity to it and yet the DJ equipment back then was pre-historic compared to now, if they had the kit available now back then it would have been the end of any major progression in the artform.

What's up my brother, you have this whole tape? Would love to hear it, I collect a lot of hip hop live recordings, and have digitized probably 90% of my collection, if you would like to trade I have a lot of dope old school live gems. I have probably at least 90 tapes. If you would like to trade this one for something else let me know what's up.. peace and blessings. ***** Not sure that I can definitively end the debate but I heard Jeff use the Transformer scratch while cutting "Let's Dance" at Central High in 1985. This definitely isn't 1984 or 1985. Many commenters are saying this was 1986, but if so, why does Cash Money sound so much more advanced here than he did in 1988? Watch his performance in England at the DMC Finals, which he won, in 1988. He clearly was showing his best stuff-- he was battling for the world title, after all-- but he's not doing any of the advanced stuff on this tape. Also, his scratching is far crisper and cleaner and more practiced-sounding here than in 1988. If this really is 1986, how can this be explained?

Actually him and Marv already made ugly people be quiet listen to the intro on his winning set so that tape is definitely 84 or 85 they he was doing that scratch around 84
Think he was having needle skipping issues and the choice of records in this mix are more of a showcase for his skills. He was raw in the mid 80s, scratching to the funk had some amazing rhythmic skills for the time, still not really heard anyone do it better.
More pressure and the element of the time limit so he had to make choices. And the main part of his final performance was his battle style reaction with "callin' me a sucker" to the "I'm Cash Money' m0therf#cker" diss by All Star Fresh. Look up his set in the semi final, a bit more sloppy but more of his signature scratches.

We all stopped dancing and ran to see what was going on!!! Optimus Prime Cash Money & Omega Jeff!!!!
I was at this party Feb 14, 1986 Central High School. It was a closed party for them & Girl's High. I left St. Joe's Prep, caught the subway & we waited until 7:30 to get snuck in. Little did I know HISTORY was going to be made that night!!! Jazzy Jeff & Cash Money unveiled the TRANSFORMER scratch!!! When we first heard it was like WTF WAS THAT?! We all stopped dancing and ran to see what was going on!!! Optimus Prime Cash Money & Omega Jeff! This tape circulated in Philly for years. I had it in college until a dude from Detroit stole it. Thanks for the upload... This brings back MEMORIES!!! This was one of the most pivotal nights in my life when it comes to HIP-HOP!!!
