Jazzy Jeff killed this... the EDM crowd needed to see this. He hit them from every angle: EDM, Pop, Latin and Hip Hop. The lighting and pyro technics was dope too. Class was definitely in session.
Funnily enough, he probably didn't stage the lightshows and still looked decent. I love when there isn't a staged lightshow, it just makes the set more authentic
I read few comments and i wanna say this : -Dj Jazzy Jeff killed it ! -He didn't perform on the main stage which mean the "ravers" can still enjoy EDM with their favorites performers while he was doing his thing -The crowd was probably not familiar with this kind of set but the response was amazing according to the fact jeff is probably the first actual acts really djing at this festival. -Jazzy Jeff comes from the scene/era where a dj comes with a MC so the presence and performance of Dayne Jordan is not something to argue about. Lucas Cristiano DJ AM....pretty sure he played TomorrowLand/World/Morning/NeverComes before he passed. I know he did Ultra/EDC/Etc. I'd put them on the same level. Go watch their tour vids from when AM n Jeff toured together with Skillz as their hype man. Probably the best back to back DJ sets I've ever seen. I'd go as far as as saying that AM had a profound impact on Jeff expanding his style and becoming even more eclectic with the genres and experimentation he does live. Going beyond his impeccable technical skills on the 1200s.

He allows the music to breathe. I remember seeing DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince in El Paso in the late 80's when they toured with JJ Fad and Run DMC for their Tougher Than Leather tour. Great times

Sad that the youth of today have no idea of how much the four on the floor long intro and outro of most modern music is based off of samples and rehashed music from before 2000. He went from 90bpm to 130+bpm flawlessly. Just a GOAT!
haha, title should be "DJ Legend Calmly DESTROYS Internet Keyboard Warriors" let me break down his rendition of smells like teen spirit. using 2 decks, he had the instrumental going on one deck, the acapella going on the other. then, he put the acapella in slip mode in whatever DJ software he's controlling with his turntable, probably serato. so when he scratches it or using the FX on it, it continues as if it's playing and when he releases it it's right where it should have been on time. this performance would have been literally impossible without this old school legend embracing digital. in the words of spice 1, never stay the same cuz thangs always change.

I've been playing for 30 year's and a lot of my old school DJ mate's just haven't move with the time's! A good DJ Wil be good on any format they choose to express their art on full stop! I'm no Jazzy Jeff but I was pretty big in the 90's and 2000's playing Clubs and Festivals all over Australia, Melbourne and Asia. On the House, Tekno and Trance scene! What makes this great is that Jeff simply did Jeff. Hands down he’s the best open format dj because he’s so well versed in music. Bring something different to an event that’s not expecting. Teach the people with your set that music is universal.

The laptop is just a medium. So he doesn't have to buy or carry so much vynil. EDM deejays producing their own music on their laptops, while their laprops automaticly synchronizing the beats. By the way, EDM music most easy music to mix. All songs same BPM.

Love he showed how to rock a party. He is a legend and the skills of scratching and beat juggling with 1200’s are awe inspiring. Sad that the youth of today have no idea of how much the four on the floor long intro and outro of most modern music is based off of samples and rehashed music from before 2000. He went from 90bpm to 130+bpm flawlessly. Just a GOAT!

let me break down his rendition of smells like teen spirit. using 2 decks, he had the instrumental going on one deck, the acapella going on the other. then, he put the acapella in slip mode in whatever DJ software he's controlling with his turntable, probably serato. so when he scratches it or using the FX on it, it continues as if it's playing and when he releases it it's right where it should have been on time.
this performance would have been literally impossible without this old school legend embracing digital.

I'm a Millennial and am so offended at the fact that the crowd was only rocking out to his name and not his music. it felt like they were like "He's the legendary DJ, so I guess he's good"... BASTARDS!!! It would make my life if I could be behind the DJ booth and watch him do his magic. Many think he's an overrated DJ, but I think not many of this generation nor DJ's give him the respect he deserves.
People don't respect DJ's period anymore. How many people in that crowd only knew Jazzy Jeff as that guy that kept getting thrown out of the house by Uncle Phil.

It's funny everyone thinking he's playing real vinyl, but he's not! He's playing time coded vinyl with Serato pro on his computer! Which is basically using the turntables as a controller! Great set!!
DJ Shaun Reed I hope you're not implying that Jeff is a fraud just because he's using Serrato. He was a God of vinyl while you were probably learning how to use a fork and spoon at the dinner table. I've been playing for 30 year's and a lot of my old school DJ mate's just haven't move with the time's! A good DJ Wil be good on any format they choose to express their art on full stop! I'm over lugging around record's to gigs but on some occasions I'll play record's! I'm no Jazzy Jeff but I was pretty big in the 90's and 2000's playing Clubs and Festivals all over Australia, Melbourne and Asia. On the House, Tekno and Trance scene! I use to be a pro Breaker late 80's and I love hip hop and Turntablism! Peace and Love to you mate!
