    Shearwater could have introduced the Peregrine with AI in 2023 instead of just two colour variants. Even with a €100 surcharge, if you like. But hope dies last.

      I recently got the Perdix 2, and it’s awesome! However, if the Peregrine was an AI computer, I likely would have bought that instead. I’m sure I’m not the only one to make the AI recommendation to Shearwater concerning the Peregrine. Now if the Perdix 2 had gps, it would damn near be perfect!

      Not even AI, that is what the Pedix is for, but at least add a compass!!!

    Split Fin, no thanks. Like the sting suit concept. Love the new gear videos and options they offer. Thank you, Scuba Diver Mag.

    Going from scuba to open water in a few weeks. Think I’m gonna go with the peregrine for my computer. Nothing too crazy for a newbie.

      Shearwater are a well trusted brand in the diving community. And the peregrine is a top notch dive computer, especially for beginners

    Love your product videos. Split fins, not my favorite, am a ScubaPro fan but think the S-Tek too gimmikee. Will stick with my Novas. What are your thoughts?

    • @ScubaDiverMagazine
      @ScubaDiverMagazine  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I kinda like the new S-Tek Fins. I probably wouldn't worry too much about the trim weights but I do like the stiffened material. I'm still waiting on a sample to try them out though...

    I have a question. I have an Atomic venom 2 mask I also have a beard. I was wondering if you had a better mask recommendation for a beard that you have found has slit vision but seals with a beard?

    If cars would mimic the innovation level in the dive industry, we would still be using steam engins! I don't think hedge funds buying diving manufacterers and training agencies is the way forward.

    #askmark. I am trying to get confirmation about the TFX. There are many differing reports regarding this reg. Even Atomic is a bit ambiguous. Is the TFX a Cold Water rated regulator? I would like a set, but will get the T3 if it is not. I have to order a set as I do not have a nearby shop. Thank you

    • @ScubaDiverMagazine
      @ScubaDiverMagazine  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The TFX has passed EN250 and has an _anti-freeze kit_ fitted as standard, which is essentially filling a chamber with a special low temperature lubricant and a rubber seal, that makes it suitable for cold water diving. You'll see a black silicone band around the middle of the 1st stage with >4°C on it and if you lift that up you'll find a white grease, that's the anti-freeze kit.

      @@ScubaDiverMagazine Thanks very much

  • @matthiasmaiwald8236
    @matthiasmaiwald8236 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder if the Atomic TFX is essentially a re-designed Scubapro D400. I remember that there is something unique about the D400's exhaust design that was not (!) continued in Scubapro's X650 and D420 (which look somewhat similar). Could it be that Atomic has taken up the D400's exhaust design elements again in a modernized version?

    • @georg9967
      @georg9967 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well it's definitely the same diaphragm exhaust combo style. This was also used in dräger second stages for a while. It definitely takes many design queues from d400. Hopefully better springs and poppets tho.

    • @MikeR_DiveR
      @MikeR_DiveR ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The engineers who started Atomic left SP over 25 years ago, taking the design with them. It’s a very comfortable reg. Had the opportunity to dive a prototype about a year and a half ago. The yoke attachment on the production reg is amazing...one and a quarter turns locks it onto the valve.

    • @matthiasmaiwald8236
      @matthiasmaiwald8236 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MikeR_DiveR -- This is nice to hear. And yes, I heard that former Scubapro engineers started Atomic, and that the similarity to the D400 is no accident.

    Apex DSX... 40 meters I know it's at the edge of what's normally considered recreational diving, but extreme? um ok.

    I've never had issues with fin buoyancy between salt and fresh water to such an extent that I had to add weights to them. Is that a common problem?

    • @whatsgoodmyguy4391
      @whatsgoodmyguy4391 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm gonna release fins that have changeable gravity ..... Marketing at its finest.

      Never have I ever thought to make my fins heavier. 🤔🙄😂

    • @marksallows113
      @marksallows113 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, but switching to a dry suit does. These are aimed at Tec and/or Dry Suit Divers (me). Traditionally, dry suit divers will use a heavy fin such as the ScubaPro Jet Fin or/and wear ankle weights. These solve that problem, assuming the weights are variable.

    what is 'ocean bound' plastics?

    • @ScubaDiverMagazine
      @ScubaDiverMagazine  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most consumer plastics are deemed ocean bound as most plastic such as packaging and bottles end up in our oceans. The plastics that most brands use are often collected from waterways so they don't reach the ocean. But it's basically plastic bottles
