I went from a diesel to an eC4. I was quite reluctant. The eC4 is a brilliant car. The ride, including the spec. I own a shine+. If you are going electric there are a few things to bear in mind. It's more suited to short journeys as motorway depletes ANY EV range rapidly. My car will say 190 range. If I do my 32 mile journey then by the time I get to work it will say about 90 miles range left. Though bear in mind the car will under estimate your range so don't take that 90 miles range as gospel. I tend to drive in sport mode so you can always switch to eco mode and get much better range. Another thing is the car is not slow. I was worried about the overtaking acceleration. As with any EV the instant torque is poweful and it'st enough to get past a slow moving lorry if required. It is our secondary car. I would not rely on any EV as an only car unless you plan to only drive local and not venture to far from home. My only real complaint is the cup holders for the front passenger are woeful. They don't hold take- out coffee cups properly.

Like you I switched recently, going from petrol to electric with a shine plus ec4. I got mine for a very reasonable 21K with only 150 miles on the clock. My drive to work is similar to yours, but being in Scotland, since I picked this up at the end of Nov, temps have typically been in the 3 - 8C range with some days around freezing. I drive in standard/normal, have heating set at 20C, and find my range drop by about 50 -55 miles per journey on average depending on weather. Most of my journey is dual carriage way at 60 - 65 mph or slightly slower as I feel range drops quickly after the low 60's on my routes at least. So, I reckon I'm getting 140 - 160 range mostly, with some trips away from early morning commute coldest temps.
The car is an amazing place to spend time in and, as you say, a great drive. I don't agree with the review comments on body roll or it being sluggish, but I'm not a heavy footed car reviewer or boy racer prioritising speed over all else. I find it supremely comfortable, very quiet, perfectly practicle and with a great sound system and all the tech I want. The cup holders are a pain, but were easily solved by buying my own tall insulated cups which places are happy to fill for me. There have been a few warmer days this last week and there is a marked increase in range with the higher temps. One day last week, at 14c, the car was easily returning 4.2kw/hr which bodes well for range in proper summer temperatures.
In short, I'm a very happy bunny with this car. I like the look and the feel of the car, got used to the rear spoiler and other minor quirks very quickly and am enjoying every moment behind the wheel. I find it a very chilled out car to drive, and it does what I need when I need it. And now I've got a home charger installed and moved away from public charging, it's very cheap to run on a weekly basis.

Just learn to drive it appropriately at motorway speeds. Much like the cars of the 70s-back that would eventually break down instead if pegged. Travelling 55 - 65mph instead of 70 - 85mph live everyone else won't totally kill you. Going 10 miles quicker per hour is not far at all when going a mile a minute ⌚
If you have too much anxiety safely draft behind a large vehicle or any vehicles going at a comfortable pace. It could make the difference of doing 2.5miles/kWh and 3.5 or more mi/kWh

Had mine 2 years now, and it’s such a relaxed drive , costs me £4 to charge 150miles in winter or 200 plus for the rest of the year.

Picked up a 23 Shine Plus 50KWH with 3K miles, including electric seats and sunroof as a dealer's company car for just over £19K and it's brilliant. Plenty of real-world range for most journeys, enough poke and tons of kit. Super comfortable too.

I have a 2023 E-C4... Totally agree its a nice sized hatchback. Seats are brilliantly comfortable as is the suspension. Fit and finish is miles better than the MG4. I find it very quiet with no wind noise. My E-C4 only had one battery size and I disagree with the winter range stated here.... I have driven in freezing weather, constant 70mph and still did better than 140 miles. The outstanding part of the E-C4 is its brilliantly cheap second hand price.

Don't understand the hate for EVs. I've got one of these on a lease, it is a really nice car to drive and very comfortable. I pay £250 a month and am saving over £100 a month on petrol and tax, and the insurance worked out slightly cheaper. Very much doubt i would find an ICE car in this class for £150 a month.

@@lnby I have an EC4 which I am very happy with after a couple of months. Would have liked something with a longer range ideally but to be fair I've just done a 370 mile drive to Cornwall and it all went very very smoothly. Would even say it was less tiring than normal with the extra stops we took.

The ë-C4 is a lovely EV. A car is more than only range and battery size. This car extremely comfortable by it's PHC dampening system. And thats a unique selling point that really stand out from the crowd. If you spec it up there is not much more to wish for. I drive a shine version which is a lovely well specced car. And very reliable car with no hussle at all. Avant-garde design unique comfort.

I think I'd prefer my MG4 to this. The interior isn't so nice looking but you get much better performance range for less money. But it does show European manufacturers are starting at last to produce (almost) price competitive EVs - just need to bump up those battery capacities boys. As a side note, the accessory you need for the tablet pop out thing in the dash at 2:23 costs £80+ and I think if I did buy this car and wanted to use it, that I'd be designing a 3d printed piece instead.

Citroen made in France. A neighbouring economy. MG made in China. A distant economy. Also, MG is owned by the Chinese Communist Party. Buy an MG and fund the party elite. Supporters of Putin. Threats to Taiwan. Oppressors of HK and Tibet. Internment camps. Slave labour. Nasty car.

Slightly damning with faint praise. I have had one since 2021 and never been as low as 140 in winter. Driven properly you can easily get 170+. Even in Eco it will beat a Range River away from the lights even in Eco. Never had any handling problems and you get a lot more as standard than entry level Niro and certainly more than the ID3 where everything is extra.

    • @Andy-zi1wj

Can beat anything away from the lights as long as it's not racing you. The e-c4 maybe a comfortable cruiser but fast it isn't!

Its not an 11kw on board charger - look at the charge port, it only has three power connectors (live neutral and earth) so it cannot accept a 3 phase plug (or it will but only charge on one phase). It will only ever charge at 7kw, unless you use a DC charger.

Seuraava autoni on ehkä käytetty 2-3 vuotias tälläinen e-C4 tai Fiat 500e (42 kwh).
Olen koeajanut lyhyen koeajon molemmilla.
