    Not even a hint of nervousness anywhere. Pure energy burning through that Marshall. Never gets old.

      You can tell he had the parts down completely, but it also has a hint of being done on the fly, too. Amazing -- just amazing.

      Has the same feel of Les Claypool’s playing.
      Pure and simple fearlessness.🤘🏻

      Guy knew what he was playing . No hesitation . I always thought his style was 2/3 Talent 1/3 Obsession . He must have always been thinking about music .

    No one could dive bomb or pinch a harmonic like Ed. He gave that stuff a vocal quality that just can't be copied.

      I feel like so many people miss that about Eddie's playing - it wasn't for showing off, it was manipulating the instrument to vocalize the sounds he was feeling or hearing in his head. He essentially turned the guitar into a lead vocal at times within any given track among his expert and legendary riffing. I love his style....

    Just got done listening to DLR Re-record of this song and the guitars are so dry they don’t even come close to how the reverb and noise from the Flange and Phase 90 sit in the mix on the original recording. In the isolated versions you can hear how much noise is in the recording and how bad ass Eddie is power through all of it. Such an incredible guitar player. Glad I grew up listening to him.

    The main thing to love about this first album is how live it is. Very few overdubs, and not very many rhythm tracks. The guitar sounds insane on the regular track, but isolated?
    It's even moreso.
    I remember the first time hearing this album. This song was on side two. My mind was already blown before I flipped the album over. Immortal track.

    Eddie changed the way everyone viewed the guitar from the minute there 1st album was released. Hendrix is the only other guitarist that created a shift in the way it was played. Page, Clapton, Townsend or anyone else did not create a total shift in the playing of the instrument,,, they are great players and wrote iconic music but did not move the music biz in a new direction.

    There are faster guitarists (Lynch, etc). There are more technically gifted guitarists (Vai, etc). There are better songwriting guitarists (Page, etc) There may even be more influential guitarists (Hendrix, etc). A few even look cooler with a guitar in their hands (Richards, etc). But at the end of the day could anyone make you feel what EVH made you feel with his guitar?

    • @kevins.3825
      @kevins.3825 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn’t say George is faster. I mean if you compare the end of the Tooth and Nail solo to the tremolo picked part of Eruption it is not faster. Ed’s tremolo picking was fast because of the way he did it flemenco style. Watch Live Without a Net solo for reference. I understand why it may sound that way to some because of the pattern George plays in his gothic octave olus digital delay, plus 4 note per string scale that he and DeMartini do, but they lifted it from Eddie.
