Interview with Elverina Johnson

In an interview with the Cairns Convention Centre, Elverina Johnson a local Gungganji Gurugulu and Gimuy Walubara Yidinji artist talks to us about her favourite memory growing up in Yarrabah, the inspiration behind the design of the commission artwork 𝗥𝗲𝗲𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and her initial thoughts and feelings when she was selected to create the artwork
This piece which beautifully captures the connection between the ocean, reef, mangroves, and the land with First Nations people, is now displayed in the entry to the new expansion and is a wonderful edition to the First Nations art collection displayed throughout the Centre.
