Best live band I've ever witnessed. Saw their last performance in Montreal, and did it ever seem like it was their last, wow. After seeing them live 8 times, I still miss them. I still purposely keep myself from listening to them because it will be a long, hard, and ongoing affair. I miss them like no one.
Wow 8 times? They are my favourite band and I only got to see them once. They were not super regular here in the UK however I got an incredible one off show. Support from Final (JK Broadwick) then the Oceanic album in full with In Fiction as encore.
i found them when oceanic came out back in 2002. Saw them live at the Grog shop in Cleveland Ohio and it was the best show of my life.. At the time Travis's own mother was running their merch table.
It's incredible to think how energy can be built and built upon in a song, these guys knew what they were doing. Here's to wishing for a UK tour one day.
Some bands use vocals as instruments, as the singer of MEshuggah said theyre another percussion element to every song. With bands such as isis, where all of the songs are pure emotions, the screaming vocals are to help carry out the feeling.
Saw them in 2009 in Antwerp! I remember after the show I was standing alone at the front watching Aaron putting his drum in boxes. Looked at me and told him I was also a drummer and he was a big influence for me and gave me 2 sticks, such a down to earth guy! Stopped drumming and lost the sticks! I blame it on my favorite drummer Danny Carey, such a heavy burden wanting to be as creative as him. Bought the same configuration sonor sq2 kit as him so started all wrong :)! Maybe need to buy a nice 4 piece kit and follow some lessons! I'm high on coke so I wanted to share my thoughts, kind off...
In my opinion, he's one of the best singers of the last 20 years and together with the rhythm section of ISIS... it can only be a good thing man. They wouldn't do it if it didn't work :)
@Finq08 My thoughts exactly. They found the perfect equilibrium between density and melody, and the vocals only add to the experience. And when it comes to the abrasive vocals, I can't say that I've ever heard a vocalist match Turner's tone. It's immediately recognizeable.
Grew up with a lot of progressive rock artists saying magnum opus in interviews, but you're quite right. Latin is an interesting language I have to say, thanks for teaching me something I didn't know! =)
@TheRoykmann It's the other way around, Magnum Opus, but I agree, this is the track that will define them for decades to come. And the genre they've created for that matter! I hope they get back together, if only for one more album.
@Tibberclaw I think the growls are part of what makes Isis' sound - the sheer intensity, the primal raspiness of the vocals. This song didn't need them, sure. But I really can't picture most Isis songs without those abrasive vocals. If you take away that aspect, I thinkthe songs would suffer overall. Perhaps you just need to become more accustomed to harsh vocals.
@ZEDdotTVtm Jeff. I think he's a little higher than the rest of the guys, especially towards the end. Didn't affect my enjoyment of the performance, though.
@Tibberclaw I suppose it's just a matter of personal preference. I can see why you might feel the way you do with regards to the vocals, but I really don't get that vibe at all. I just wouldn't enjoy Isis as much without them.
Overall composition of the song is great. Live performance of the song is lacking an entertainment factor: watching requires great patience. Vocals are sub par.
One shouldn't "watch" them perform, one should "experience" the sounds they create.. makes for a bad TH-cam video then, i guess. Kinda like seeing a picture of the grand canyon vs. being there
One of the best songs I've ever heard, the last heavy riff is face melting.

@@thebigeasy87 JK is a beast. Jesu opened up for two of the shows I saw (they were back to back, Ottawa/Montreal 2007 late February or Early March).
Yeah that was a great show. They really were special to see live and i'm grateful I got to experience them a handful of times.
"Yet under this Mortal Sun, we cannot hide ourselves."
One of my fave lyrics, right there.
It's been 5 or 6 years since I discovered ISIS. I still love them to this day. In Fiction is one of my favorites from them
In fiction might be one of the best songs in existence
@@ilyas_elouchihi

Seen them in Ireland before they broke up, one of the best experiences ever.
I saw them 4 or 5 years ago in a little bar in Atlanta! Amazing show and phenomenal music! Wish they would get back together!
Also named my ball python after the band! ISIS!
Best band I 've ever seen live after the Prodigy (completely different thing)..lol I know it's strange but it's my two top live act s
It never stops amazing me that the best band that ever was is practically unknown to the world
These dudes are absolutely fucking brilliant! Been a fan for over ten years and they're music still blows my fucking mind!
Love the sound of that snare.
"Seven kingdoms couldn't fill the hole she left behind. -Robert Baratheon” - This quote can tell how i feel after ISIS.

Loving Isis since 5 years now. Hope they reunite
Subbree sadly, thats not gonna happen.
+Subbree Now ISIS is a bad name in whole world, imagine if they didn't break up in these days
I just know they will eventually brother!
There will be one in about five years I'm pretty sure.
will happen now my friend, honoring Cave In
Aaron Turner is destroyer of the standart metal music. Aaron Turner is genius.
Yeahs but unfortunately he can be kinda of a Dick also. Hope To see them plays live again
My number one of _all_ time right here. In every imaginable way.
PillznarRy same here!
Single most fucking awesome thing in TH-cam.
this song gives me chills.
What a nice piece of music ! I'd really like to see them live.

our fate lies in fiction
A band can only be this good In Fiction.
This is fucking awesome! Briliant! Badass quality!
They are one of the few metal bands i really like, a really talented band !
Glad I saw them live a few times. And glad they introduced me to Cult of Luna opening up one tour
Isis & Zozobra in Hollywood, one of my favorite shows ever!!!!
Art.
In my opinion, he's one of the best singers of the last 20 years and together with the rhythm section of ISIS... it can only be a good thing man. They wouldn't do it if it didn't work :)
Awesome and the vocals are great feeling, goosebumps!!
you're the best.
perfect sound.
Wowww
Love ❤️❤️❤️👏
One song that goes wayyyyyy harder live.
The dvd is awesome
so beautiful

生で聴きてえよお
This is just powerful
In some unknown place, Ian Curtis is sometimes still present; unpolluted.
masterpiece
Grew up with a lot of progressive rock artists saying magnum opus in interviews, but you're quite right. Latin is an interesting language I have to say, thanks for teaching me something I didn't know! =)
@AstronautJ Thanks for the Rosetta. I loved! but ISIS is still number one in this genre :))
@TheRoykmann It's the other way around, Magnum Opus, but I agree, this is the track that will define them for decades to come. And the genre they've created for that matter! I hope they get back together, if only for one more album.
amazing
Already classic
@LumBrave Well we still have Cult of Luna who is even more über-awsome.
@AstronautJ hehe You pointed well. I am going to try the names you've given. Thanks.
damn these boys can PLAY
I wish there was a reunion tour
crying
love ♥
супер
i wanna sleep after this
@AstronautJ Yes you may be right. I listened some of their tunes but they didnt impress me as much as ISIS does.
check out Old Man Goom "Christmas" and you get a nice blend of Cave In, Isis and Converge vocals, great material...
As close to an infinite song as there can be.

yes sir
@ZEDdotTVtm Jeff. I think he's a little higher than the rest of the guys, especially towards the end. Didn't affect my enjoyment of the performance, though.
all the best metal bands like joy division
Ha awesome I have the same Joy Division shirt
@TheScientista what genre do you think they are other than awesome?
OPUS MAGNUM
Cult of Luna can't be a patch on ISIS.
@Tibberclaw I suppose it's just a matter of personal preference. I can see why you might feel the way you do with regards to the vocals, but I really don't get that vibe at all. I just wouldn't enjoy Isis as much without them.
Why I think sound like wild Mogwai? 😁
Great song, but bad sound quality for some of the best parts
Or Opus Magnum.
A rift like Silverchair !is there ! ANd this is good !
I have a man-crush on Aaron Turner.
Gotta admit, I laughed my ass off at this.
Why?
YTITTI
lol?
I hate this lame crowd

The band is great until this guy start singing...
This page was great until you started commenting.
Being objective, the guy sings bad, open your ears, or not, stay in delusion
kalpataro music isn't objective moron. fuck you
Its good that straight Neanderthal descendants like you are rare.
ah we can see you know nothing about good music
