Early series weren't on until 10.30pm so were a bit more out there. Later series were on at like 6/7pm so became more family friendly.
Continue through to series 5 & 6 they are the best in the shows run. The show does go downhill later on even Harry has said in the past he didn’t enjoy doing them in the later series and the observation comedy was minimal.
Harry was way ahead of the curve regarding Baby Shark, really.

The 2nd to last he ate was holiday showdown
2:10 And then in classic soap villain tradition, she ended up dead instead. One of the best exits ever. After fan favourite Curly Watts rejected her she went mad and went bunny boiler seeking revenge. Not content with framing him for stealing money from the supermarket bosses, she then tried to frame him for poisoning customers. As you do. Trying to sabotage the frozen produce by spraying it with antifreeze, she turned out the light on the big freezer so she wouldn't get caught. But the security guard then saw the light was off and the door was open. Oh no, that'll make the food go off! So he locked the door and went back to his office to continue his night shift. Next morning they open the freezer up, and find her frozen stiff body sitting on some boxes staring at them. Literally staring, eyes wide. Hilarious and creepy at the same time.

These earlier episodes are just so chaotic and rushed. It’s like they’ve been told youngest as many jokes in as quickly as possible- it doesn’t flow as quickly as the later episodes do
The smaller TV, 2nd to last it looks like Deal Or No Deal

You should absolutely try watching an episode of hi-de-hi. Paul Shane is amazing in it. River cottage as well is very enjoyable
The early series were edgy for sure because of the time-slot. But even at the time it aired, it was so popular they decided to put it on prime time on saturdays and watered it down. Even watered down I always enjoyed it.

For Halloween you should try to find the BBC's 'Strange' if you haven't already.
After series 4 carry on from 5 and work your way through.
If I remember correctly the earlier series were shown later at night, hence the edgier feel.

Early tv burp was much better and a hell of a lot funnier as it was late night originally so harry could do proper observational comedy but it turned into grotty Saturday evening go through the motions, say catch phrase, anything will do it's only chavs waiting for x factor, dancing on Ice, or any other ant and Dec vehicle who would be watching anyway so not as much funny comedy in later series. Check out skinner and baddial unplanned it used to share the same late night slot as TV burp after the ten o'clock news it was frank skinner and David baddiel talking about general stuff happened in week suggestions from audience the soaps just chewing the fat
I prefer the later versions of tv burp
