I would have the Furious Five in the movie for making the Chameleon have ties to the five just as Tai Lung is to Shifu, Shen to Po and Kai to Oogway so the Chameleon backstory is that she trained along aside the five but she was last to finish at everything behind and very ambitious so just like Tai Lung, Oogway saw her corruption so she in bitterness and figured that she would used sorcery and get an army of lizards, because for her being regretted from Kung Fu trainers just for being small is both pathetic and nonsensical because Viper and Mantis are the shortest members and they turned out alright so I thought of the idea that the Chameleon not only does she steals the five’s abilities but also eats Mantis because Chameleons are the natural predator of insects and it would make the stakes higher as well as makes it more personal
I hope he get's a redemption ark!
If only Dreamworks had applied these ideas or techniques to create another excellent story instead of a quick cash grab. I felt cheated leaving the theater, it was like everyone used AI to create and write everything.

I think the chameleon shouldn’t have been a sorceress in the first place. Rather, I think the movie would’ve worked much better had it gone back to the films’ original kung fu roots, where the chameleon is an evil kung fu master with their own evil furious five (all different and new animals). Her motives can be generally the same, being that the chameleon wants to rule China. However, instead of wanting to rule China by stealing the kung fu from master villains, this version of the chameleon wants to take over China by taking over Kung Fu and essentially become the new master Oogway (just instead of being respected and idolized as a kung fu sage like Oogway was, she wants to be worshiped as a kung fu empress). This continues the trend the previous kung fu panda villains had, that being how the villains saw a bad thing (generally power) from a good thing
Decent idea, but that's very similar to the plot in an arc in the TV series. I haven't watched it, so I can't give detailed examples however. I've just seen clips here and there.

If Po is still going to be choosing a successor as Dragon Warrior, I'd have maybe like 10, 15, or 20 years pass since his last adventure. Then that would give a more valid reason for Po's calling to move on from being Dragon Warrior and become spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace. Perhaps the Five also have to choose their successors, with Po being the only one to (initially) choose himself. I'd maybe work the Five's missions into the plot too, with their successors accompanying them. My ideal Kung Fu Panda 4 rewrite though would have been Tai Lung being the only villain strong enough to resist and escape the Chameleon, and begrudgingly teaming up with Po to defeat her.
What they can do with the Chameleon is that have flashbacks with her and Zhen. She was meant to be Zhen's adopted mother. They should have good moments during their time together, but the Chameleon was so consume with revenge and greed that she pushed Zhen away. Zhen tries to reason with her, but the Chameleon wouldn't listen. It would be a call back of Shifu and Tai Lung's fight; however, it would be what if Shifu was the villain and Tai Lung was the hero.

How about The Chameleon suffered from an illness that prevented her from becoming a Kung Fu master - and so, she turned to magic to steal the powers of masters to become the strongest warrior alive (but never truly gets over her illness; which is why she continues to steal so many). The Chameleon eventually hires Zhen to steal Po's staff - which she does, but is confronted by Shifu and is forced to take him as well. The Chameleon opens the Spirit Realm to summon Kung Fu masters and steal their powers...but Tai Lung escapes. Po struggles to choose the right candidate, but then Tai Lung reveals The Chameleon's plan. They head to Juniper City to take down the Chameleon. On their way, Tai Lung and Po train and begin to learn from each other - but the Furious Five still have trouble trusting Tai Lung. Once there, they meet up with Zhen, who agrees to help them…for a price. They head to the Chameleon's lair, but Zhen betrays them and the Chameleon steals their Kung Fu (minus Po, Tigress and Tai Lung who narrowly escape). Po and Tai Lung get into a duel after Po loses his confidence, but Tai Lung encourages him. Zhen realizes her mistakes and helps Po convince the Den of Thieves to stop the Chameleon.
As the villagers battle the Chameleon's army, Po, Tigress and Tai Lung try to fight the Chameleon but get overwhelmed when the Chameleon turns into a horrifying Chimaera. The Chameleon then steals their powers, and soon overpowers them. Po gives Tigress his staff, with which she summons a majestic dragon of Yin and Yang, which defeats the Chameleon; and PO uses the staff to return all of the stolen kung fu skills to their owners, who return to the Spirit Realm. Shen and Kai take the Chameleon with them. As Tai Lung departs, Po closes the portal; allowing Tai Lung to stay and further redeem himself. Tai Lung gives his respect to Po and finally acknowledges him as the true Dragon Warrior. Zhen is also given the new role of leader to the Den of Thieves. Back at the Valley, Tai Lung reunites with Shifu, expressing that he will wait as long as it takes to be forgiven…before having a cup of warm tea with his old master. Po finally chooses Tigress as his successor. And so, Po and Tai Lung help train Tigress to become the next Dragon Warrior.
This is just the version I'd go with if the people were trying to go for a female successor - 'cause Tigress would obviously be the right choice. But to be honest, Tai Lung would still be my prefered choice.
That is a better rewrite. I agree with you. Tigress is the best choice to become the Dragon Warrior and she deserves it. I wish she was the Dragon Warrior. Tai Lung will get a second chance and live in the Jade Palace with the heroes.

Since Tai Lung is physical, Lord Shen is mental, and Kai is spiritual, the Chameleon could be all three at once. She can shapeshift into Po's mom to mess with Po's mental state, she can shapeshift into fighters to fight him physically, and she can be a better Kai.
I rewrote The Chameleon Character as well if you want to read it. Then tell me what you think.
1. Chameleon has more background:
- In my Story, The Chameleon has connections and her end game is played out differently interesting. She tried her best to studying the martial arts. However she would fail and not get the meaning of how she could do kung fu even if she is small. One master would of said big or small, we have are own advantage in our Arts, it just needs time. While later she did come across her powers to shape shift. Would mention in her childhood she could camouflage and change colours. This would displeased the master due to her Shapeshifting ability and the study of her new found sorcery, which could lead in dangerous situations or worst for herself. She did not get the meaning of his words. So she jumped into conclusions and begin a life crime, becoming a crime boss, then took over a city with her confined decision. All because of a Grudge and tries to feel powerful over others. When the time was right. Her army she hired, took the city buy surprise. Halting the police and battling the juniper city palace. She killed the original emperor and won. She controls the city, the people, and making sure of no knowledge from the outside world. Leading the city into a facist state or communism. She gains her knowledge outside the city by shapeshifting into different animals. Most effective is reptilian animal forms. Most cases would be the crime families or people she hired to check what happens outside. Therefore having news of the outside world and getting important things to solve her endgame. Showing off the original master that he was wrong that she could do anything with her powers. When one night on the streets of Juniper City. Zhen steals the jewel from her throne during a army march of her pleasing moment. Zhen was caught cause she took so long to get out of sight. The Chameleon looks at Zhen, no fear in her eyes, stood her ground. Then asking about Her name. After revealing it was Zhen, she gives her the jewel she stole. Then after that she offers her a home and sanctuary. On the condition that she will have to she will have to be trained and serve the Chameleon. Overtime, the chameleon show her ways of experience of how to be a better thief and some elements of defence from her past. Zhen stayed in the palace. Sometimes Zhen would let her leave the palace but not the city without her permission. She stole a few things their and their from citizens, cops, and vendors. When tried going back to the den of thieves. She was kicked out by their leader cause she betrayed the her family, The Thieves. Zhen would not come back until Zhen in the future with po. Zhen has improve to her worthy. While the chameleon has improve herself through time. Present day after Kung Fu Panda 3, The Chameleon gets news from her drifters that a new relic has came, but it was from the Dragon Warrior Po. She learned this new found news after learning other dark magic to her sorcery. Goes to a mission bringing Zhen with her to retrive a relic called The Staff of Wisdom. Telling Zhen that she’s ready and set out to the Valley of peace.
- At first as a child she wanted to be a hero of Kung Fu. But that changed when sorcery became her power and Apprentice to her side. Her darkside has taken her to a new path of her life. Feeling rejected that’s when her powers are useful but was denied. Her difficult stress was when she pushed her limit of becoming evil. Making deals, robbing places, had an army and crime families. Then took over Juniper city and became Empress.
- As a Child she would go to these Kung Fu shows and academies cause she admires their special ability and the martial arts. Even practicing her moves during her private time at home.
- I found her true perfect real name for The Chameleon. The Chameleon is her Identity name used by locals or rumours. Her Real name is Chara

I adore Kung Fu Panda with all my heart, but in my opinion- this movie was a huge disrespect to the ones before it. The second I saw the "animation style" - and millennial humor, I knew it'd be bad. Kung Fu Panda 2 is my absolute favorite movie in all of the trilogy. I've watched it so many times- listen to their incredible score almost every day. The visuals weren't ``over exagerated``, it was the perfect balance between amazing graphics, and REALISTIC lighting.
Now let's get to Po, the way he acted felt so much more realistic. At times he was silly, but when the serious times came- he was SERIOUS!
It seems like in the 3rd film- and now the 4th, they try to make him ``silly and goofy `` all the time. Po in the 1st and 2nd film had such a lovable personality, he had so much EMOTION, his facial expressions weren't over the top either. And I feel as if the characters actually had ``mass`` - like they were actually there. Also like, can we treat the villians seriously like we did in the first two films? They treated Kai like he was a joke- he had a lot of potential to be an INCREDIBLE villian! Especially with his theme song.
The lighting, backrounds, ESPECIALLY THE STORY, and the overall design of the movie was a perfect balance of everything.
In a way, ( Hopefully this makes sense ) - when I watched Po in the first two movies, I heard PO. I didn't hear Jack Black. But now, all I hear is Jack Black TRYING to be Po. It's just not the same anymore. The voice acting did not feel natural at all in the 4th- you could tell they were reading a script.
And Lord Shen, the darker tone to the film made it just THAT good. He had such a personal relation to Po- which made him all the more terrifying. I don't think this movie is horrible, it's just not up to par with the 1st, 2nd, and even the 3rd.
Pretty much what I'm saying is, this is better than what we got. At least you actually put more thought into it in comparison to "Mike Mitchell".
I mean Kai died in the spirit realm but now that I think about it can you even die in the spirit realm as technically you are already dead if you are their
I'm glad that everyone else is rewriting this disappointing fourth installment and improving the Chameleon much better. I'd give her a name known as "Queen Camellia" or Xíng, as in Xíngshì/form
1) I'd get rid of Jen and bring the furious 5 back. (Aquafina for me is one of my least favorite actresses and honestly any movie she is in seems to make me hesistant.)
2) I agree in that the Chamelon shouldn't have her true form be revealed until the very end, when Po first hits her with a critical staff beam attack.
3) New Chameleon backstory I agree entirely with you.
4) Have Tigris be the next dragon warrior or heck, have it be a sort of thing where all 5 of the furious 5 can become the dragon warrior.
5) Have Po deal with not just the Chameleon as Tai-long, but as Shen, Kai, and even Oogway or even Shifu.
6) Tai-Long can gain a redemption arc, but maybe have that be a sub-plot. Shifu is also captured by the Chameleon and that is how he ends up in the same cage or the cage right next to Tai-Long. Maybe you get a bit of Shen being Shen, and Kai who is mocking Oogway who is also in a trapped cage. You get a monent of Shifu and Tai-long just having a heart to heart conversation, and maybe this is what also helps Tai-Long respect Po as the Dragon Warrior. This is also where you can get a heartwarming moment where before Tai-Long is sent back to the spirit realm, you get a small moment of Tai-Long and Shifu hugging before Tai-Long re-enters the spirit realm. (Kai could be holding the Chameleon, and Oogway could have his final comedic line, and Shen would also do the same, where he has respect for the Panda but he does it in his own comedic way.) Then the portal closes and everyone returns back to the Valley of Peace. Maybe Oogway is how Po can learn what he should do as the spiritial leader, and choosing the next dragon warrior, and Oogway could say something wisdom-like to help Po. or heck, his own Dads could give him wisdom.
That ending, wow this guy is a good singer

I don’t think that General Kai is really dead: the prophecy that Oogway made about him was that he could be stopped by a true master of chi, stopped but not necessarily killed.
Moreover, the Spirit Realm does appear to have different sections or facets to it: notice that General Kai (and he really should be called *General* Kai, since it is a more formidable name than simply “Kai”) approaches two living villagers and asks them if they’d die if he stepped on them. We can kind of deduce that there are different facets of the Spirit Realm from this alone.
Well those villagers were in the real world and not in the spirit realm so it would make more sense that if he stepped on them then they would die because they aren’t actually in the spirit realm, although yes they never said they needed to kill General Kai but instead they need to stop him
I have my own little rewrite but the story is kind of weird so idk
There's basically a city that was protected by a large illusion wall for years by a chameleon who had a great talent for sorcery, which allowed him to be bigger than any other ordenary chameleon (explains why the official design isn't size accurate) and for protecting the city, the chaneleon was granted a noble status and kept on passing down his skills in sorcery for generations.
Our main villain, the chameleon (who i renamed Cangqiong) was born into this bloodline, she also had a twin brother.
While Cangqiong was born with a weaker body than any other chameleon, her brother was perfectly healthy which caused their father to prioritize him and keep cangqiong inside to protect her. Although she always felt terrible, she never resented her brother for this. Until he tried to cheer her up by taking her outside in secret , except, she somehow got injured and that caused their parents to be even more protective. (They basically put your girl in a toph situation 💔)
Cangqiong would often be left alone, so she took the opportunity to expand her knowledge in the magic thingy beyond what has been taught to her family
After breaking down because of the lack of appreciation she gets, Cangqiong sneeks up on her brother, and strips him of his chameleon magic thingy (idk tbh 😭) turning him into a regular old chameleon, which she decided to keep as a pet as a revenge for babying her. She then turns into him, and claims that Cangqiong has ran away.
When Cangqiong is pretending to be her brother and ruling the city, she treats its residents like filth. And that motivates one of them to leave it and call out for the dragon warrior to help (and that's why we have zhen)

Awesome video man! I think they should have given the villain a name (something you mentioned before) and an actual backstory and/or at least better motivation. The movie was mid. Po's characterization took a step back, and Chameleon was definitely too one note. I dig the changes you said in the video. Very cool incorporating your ideas with the comments too. I would have the Furious Five in the movie on helping Po and Zhen go to Juniper City to stop the Chameleon. I will fix the Chameleon evil plans on taking over China and take over Kung Fu so nobody will not have it. Po, Zhen, and the Furious Five went to the Chameleon lair. Zhen betrayed them and give the Staff Of Wisdom to the Chameleon. Po and the Furious Five are upset about Zhen’s betrayal. Tai Lung decides to team up with Po and the Furious Five to defeat the evil Chameleon. Zhen came back to the group and apologize to them. Po and the Furious Five forgive her. The team asked the Den Of Thieves to help her and her new friends defeat the Chameleon. The Dem Of Thieves agreed and they take her down. The Chameleon defeat, Tai Lung decided to go back to the Valley Of Peace with Po, Zhen, and the Furious Five. Tai Lung see Shifu and made amends with each other. Po chose Tigress as the Dragon Warrior. Po, Zhen, Tai Lung, and the Furious Four help Tigress become the Dragon Warrior.
I had an idea myself of how the Chameleon could've been better:
She was a kung fu master who thought Po wasn't worthy of being the spiritual leader so trained Zhen to secretly try to become the dragon warrior while she tried to prove herself by using sorcery to steal the kung fu techniques of other masters to beat Po and become the spiritual leader.
