That 07 is a popular workhorse at that Arlington yard , or Eastleigh works. Quite often when I went there I popped over to look in the yard and see it moving various stuff about. Good vid work

Remember as a kid 60 years ago, visiting the sheds, no H&S then. Wandering through close to the locos. Just wonderful

Always something on at Eastleigh Kev. It's amazing the different types of shunter on site, and all are used, even the German kof, albeit coupled inside the 01508.

Eastleigh is in theory a valuable development site but it has poor road access and it hemmed in by two railway lines. There was a management buy-out and it became Wessex Traincare, with a nice contract to maintain the mark 1 EMU fleet on a production line system. Then it was sold on to Alstom in the hope that South West Trains would buy a fleet of Juniper electric trains. However, the teething troubles with the initial class 458 units were not resolved because Alstom's engineers had their hands full commissioning the Pendolino fleet. Consequently the order for the SWT fleet replacement went to Siemens and a new train maintenance facility was built at Southampton. Then Eastleigh's supply of work gradually dried up as the mark 1 EMU fleet was withdrawn.
It seems quite busy again now to judge by this video.

Perhaps having poor road access worked out as a good thing in the end as it saved it from redevelopment

Eastleigh works seems to be it's permanent home. Everytime I go there it seems to be there.

What's that in the paint shop next to the 66? It could be a Class 360
