    I can not find a video of watering in a ceramic pot that has no inner pot. Love your videos. Thank you!!!

    Hiiii! Potter here and I know a ton of ceramic artists in Instagram as well as myself are making these by hand as well if you’re in to that sort of thing!

    The ceramic pots for orchids are so pretty, and I actually use orchid pots for other types of plants, I think most benefit from more air circulation to the roots, even if it means more watering. But, the ceramic orchid pots with attached saucers sometimes don’t have such great drainage at the very bottom. And true, they are kind of pricey. Last week I bought an orchid pot from a company called Rosebud, they make different colors, I got the terracotta, which has a matte finish, and they are made from a bio-plastic. Not cheap either, around $25 for a 6”.

    I'm starting to go to friends houses and teaching them to properly take care of their orchid friends.

    Walmart in-store (Texas) has a nice “Mainstays” 6-inch ceramic planter for $7.84 (white). Also “Pennington” 5-inch ceramic planters for $8.82 in “Vintage” blue or white, also nice.

      @@TheBlackOrchidProject I will research more later on in the future. Perhaps if I order online, but like you said....it'll cost an arm and a leg in the way. Anyway, just to share with you.....my baby died, no way my orchid was gonna survive in that state. However, learned my lesson. I will inspect like a hawk from now on when buying my orchid from not reputable places. Blessings :)

    • @TheBlackOrchidProject
      @TheBlackOrchidProject  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Robert,
      I soak water in these pots also. Fill a container or the sink with water and sit ii in there few a bit. They are glazed so it won’t harm the pot.

    My brother had some clear orchid pots. I use em for my pond plants. Now my goldfish no longer uproots the plants. Oh, and make sure to only buy potted aquarium plants. Never take em out of the pot. So it makes them more durable in the clear orchid pots 😤

      I line mine with sphagnum moss or use really large fir bark. Wet the moss, squeeze it out and press it against the sides.

    Problem with these pots is there is no hole at the bottom, so water can be on the bottom till the level of the first side hole, which is about 1/2 inch.. That will rot the media and roots.

    • @TheBlackOrchidProject
      @TheBlackOrchidProject  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You’re wrong Cliff…… there is a hole at the bottom and a drainage tray!!
      Funny thing is you got a “like” on your comment from someone else that obviously doesn’t own one of these.

    • @cliffcox7643
      @cliffcox7643 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBlackOrchidProject i have some of these pots, there is an attached tray, and some brands only have a drainage hole on the bottom of the pot but others that look very similar do not have a hole. So I'm not wrong. Im just not correct with your brand. But buyers of these pots that look very similar have no hole.

    • @geslinam9703
      @geslinam9703 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cliffcox7643I agree, not all of them are the same. I have a few with attached saucers that have one small hole at the bottom, or no hole at the bottom. So when I’m looking for new ones, I always check that there is good drainage to the saucer.
