Rumor is there is a full 3rd damn Yankees album on the shelf...band was paid 1 million NOT to release it...the record labels had decided that the genre was dead..on to grunge...so many great bands lost to the purge of 1992 😢
@@chrisfredericks9777 this is true. Most of those songs have ended up being used on Styx, NR or Teds albums and honesty the 3rd unreleased album wouldn't have been very good
@@chrisfredericks9777 I read that too. That said, Night Ranger is with Frontier Records now... so essentially, they're an indie band. I'm thinking it'd be just a matter of scheduling for the guys who break out the new Damn Yankees album at this point. Here's hoping.
Great choice!! This a "Super Group" Tommy Shaw of Styx, Jack Blades of Night Ranger and Ted Nugent. Thiis was my favorite album my Sr year in high school 90-91. Impressed BJ recognized Ted Nugent! Good eyes BJ! Lots of great songs on this album! Coming of Age. This song Come Again. Run Runaway, High Enough, Mystified...and more.

@@terryconnelly484 no doubt. I’ve just never seen a solo like this before. He knocked this one out of the park. It’s fast, and slow at times. It’s technical, yet has a ton of feel and heart in it. You can see on his face the passion he has for music. I can’t stand the man he is, but his guitar skills are top notch. I will never deny him that. Sometimes you have to separate the man from the art.
After Desert Storm, DAMN YANKEES and WHITNEY HOUSTON did a free concert on base, NORFOLK, NAVAL AIR STATION for all of us that just got back from overseas. It was GREAT!!!! GOOD OLE DAYS, BEST DAYS AND FRIENDS OF MY LIFE!!!!

This is your first Damn Yankees song? I'm shocked. I could have sworn you guys did "High Enough", but if not, that's an excellent song that I would recommend next. "Don't Tread On Me" is another great song as well.
HELL YEAH! This reaction made my day for days! Styx was my 1st concert in 1978, Tommy Shaw stole the show then and still does. These guys had a great run, can't say enough about them.

Tommy Shaw had one of the best voices in rock. He’s been in Styx since the mid 1970’s. Incredible talent. I stopped by to see Asia’s smile, and wasn’t disappointed. Good job guys!

One of my favorite bands of all time! Ted Nugent lead guitar, Tommy Shawn “Styx” lead vocals guitar, Jack Blades “Night Ranger” Bass guitar and Michael Cartellone drums who went and played for Lynyrd Sknyrd after this band. Supergroup for sure only 2 albums though.

I would definitely call this a power ballad. I haven’t heard it in decades, and what stuck in my mind all those years was the slow intro. I completely forgot about the heavy guitar until just re-hearing it now.

It is such a high quality song with highly talented musicians and singers and just a🔥song! And yep that is good ol Ted Nugent! Tommy Shaw singing lead vocals and on guitar from Styx with Jack Blades from Night Ranger on Bass/background vocals and Michael Cartellone on drums, who's played with a few major groups! They were a 90s Super Group who unfortunately weren't together for very long! Definitely super talented tho! So thanks!🤘❤️

Tommy Shaw's vocals and any time he records an acoustic guitar is golden! When he joined Styx for Crystal Ball they were already killin' it, and then he helped take them to a whole other level. And what can you say about Ted Nugent...outside of "Stranglehold" this just might be one of the best solos he's ever done for a song. Be sure to give it up for Jack Blades, vocalist and bassist for Night Ranger "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" fame. He is instrumental to the vocals and songwriting as well. This is what a super group sounds like! Guys from highly successful bands join up just to see what they can do:) Freakin' Incredible!

I love that this song made its way to your ears! Damn Yankees was this perfect explosion of sound, wedged in between the end of arena rock and the beginning of grunge. It sounded like nothing else on the radio, and people just ate it up. Tommy Shaw is universally regarded as one of the best rock singers to ever live, but let's give Jack Blades some due credit. That man is hitting an E5 note in chest voice here (right at the end of the verses, and in the "whoa-whoas" of the bridge.) He's also the man behind the insane high notes in the chorus of Sister Christian! And just a magical guitar solo delivered by Nugent. This song has stood the test of time - still sounds sharp and crisp forty years later. Well, the whole album has, actually. One of my favorite albums from start to finish.
I met three members of Damn Yankees backstage in St Louis MO at Riverport Amphitheater in the early 90s, Jack blades was a relative of a friend of mine and many members of his family were also back there, and somebody put a damn Yankees logo sign on the door where the family was, and crossed out Yankees and wrote in family, which made it say "the damn family". I got to talk with Tommy Shaw for about 10 seconds, and Michael cartellone for a couple minutes, and Got a autograph from Ted Nugent.
Styx is an all time band for me, seen them 4 times, one of them being in Montgomery AL and I drove from Texas. Always been a huge Nuge fan. Michael on the drums is killer, Blades and Shaw are fantastic together. I discovered them in 2005 when I found their 2nd album in a thrift store. Loved it found Come Again and imo is underrated and their best song. I listen to it all the time and never get tired of it.
Damn Yankees was a supergroup formed up from hugely successful members of previous groups. Vocalists are Tommy Shaw who was a major part of Styx (along with Dennis DeYoung) as a co-lead singer and songwriter on some of their biggest hits and Jack Blades. Blades was the powerhouse lead singer from Night Ranger. Their voices sound amazing together. Both are also very accomplished guitarists. Ted Nugent of course had a well established solo career and is an iconic lead guitarist. Michael Cartellone won the spot on drums, for reasons this song makes obvious. And the rest is history.

I remember when this album came out all the writers in the music industry were saying how this would never work. Ted Nugget teaming with singers from Styx and Night Ranger??? Everyone thought it was just too odd of a mix to work. Turns out they recorded two of the best albums from the late 80's/early 90's era. I loved both albums more than any of the albums any of them ever did with their "main" bands. Not a bad song on either album. Some songs are better than others, but I can't say that I ever feel the need to hit the button to skip a song when I'm listening to them. And there are very few albums I can say that about.

Sweet melodic blue eye soul. Been listening to Tommy Shaw since he first joined Styx. Iconic voices in Styx. Even the newest Styx is brilliant. So many amazing artists back in the day. So talented that they had no problems bridging all walks of life. But I also want to hear This Day by Jennifer Holiday! Lotsa love from a white guy. Loved your very natural reactions by the way. It would great if these guys got back together to make another album. They were a good band. I’ve seen them in their respected bands and Ted doing his solo gig. Ted honestly was the loudest concert I’ve ever been to. My hearing was wrecked for over a week because of him.😂

Ted Freaking Nugent. My wife and I saw him live in concert last month. We have boarding land outside Waco Texas. We hung out before the concert back in a trailer that was setup for him and his band. He is 75 and went out and blew the audience away. 2 1/5 hour set.

The singer on this one is Tommy Shaw - of Styx (Renegade, Blue Collar Man, Crystal Ball, Man in the Wilderness). But he isn't the only singer - the bassist is Jack Blades also lead vocals on some songs and is from the band Night Ranger. And of course Ted is no stranger to the mic, either.

My Mom once sorta met Jack Blades. They passed each other in a pharmacy aisle and he gave her a nod and smile on his way out. She had no idea who he was. Had to learn it from the pharmacist in the back who had tickets to that night's show and was completely wigging out.

Tommy Shaw sang most of Styx's greatest hits,(And still tours with them today) Jack Blades was in Night-Ranger, Uncle Ted needs no introduction, and Michael Cartellone was relatively unknown at that point. He went on to work with a ton of artists and has been Lynyrd Skynyrd's drummer for the past 23 years.
Also, the harmonies of Shaw/Blades is utterly stunning and they went on to do a couple? of albums under the name Shaw/Blades.

Jack, Tommy, Ted and Michael were frickin awesome, all had great careers with their own bands before coming together to form this super group. They disband after having so many hit, a record label payed them like 2 million dollars to not put out another record

Yes, that indeed is Uncle Ted! Whether you like him (and his politics) or not, he's one hell of a guitar player! His playing lives up to his moniker as the Motor City Madman! Damn Yankees are definitely a supergroup. Tommy Shaw on lead vocals (Styx), Jack Blades on vocals and bass (Night Ranger), Ted Nugent (Amboy Dukes and soloist), and Michael Cartellone on drums. An unbeatable combination!

Supergroup Damn Yankees. They made 2 albums, both really good albums with lots of hits. The band consists of Tommy Shaw of Styx on guitars and vocals, Jack Blades of Night Ranger on bass and vocals, Ted Nugent on guitar and vocals, and a Michael C. On drums who wasn’t from any band I knew of. Tommy, Jack, and Ted are all lead vocalists and sing lead on Damn Yankees songs.
