- This charging system has six charging modes for fuel economy and to extend the life of the battery and the alternator it's controlled by the engine control module [ ECM ] and the body control module [ BCM ], the alternator is in a tight spot and it's not easy to remove from the engine, in this video I show you the only easy way to remove the alternator from the engine bay.

How much it cost to replace an alternator
It depends on the part new from the dealership or rebuild aftermarket and the repair shop rate, it's about three hours labor to replace the alternator on this BUick enclave.

Oh my gosh is it hard to hold the new alternator while installing the studs back on. Still struggling lol
Hello, if you installed the lower bolt first it will help to install the two upper alternator studs all you have to do is push the alternator back to lineup the studs.
I'm considering a LGX engine conversion in my Street Rod. Can I use the alternator as is, or would I need some other way to control the output of the alternator ? Would be using a modified ECM. Obviously I wouldn't have a BCM. Great information in your video. RL.
Hello, you need the BCM to monitor the charging system voltage and send a signal to the PCM to turn on the signal circuit, the IPC, battery current sensor BCM, PCM, are of the power
sorry, all are part of the electrical power management system, all depend on the modified PCM you installing if it's modified to bypass the IPC, BCM ,BCS then it might work.Thank you
I just bought an alternator for my 2012 Buick Enclave off of eBay and the alternator pulley spins both ways you said in your video that that meant it was defective it's not a new alternator is there any chance that it will work or is it just bad all the way through
Hello, the alternator pulley is an overrunning decoupler or one way clutch and it means it spins free on the alternator armature in one direction and it spins the alternator armature in the other direction. the purpose of this is to reduce noise/vaibtration / and to extend the life of the alternator, the pulley should spine both way put the armature should only spin with the pulley in one direction with resistance.
My 2008 buick enclave doesn't want to stay running had the timing chain replaced a year ago anyone else have this problem?

What did you use to remove the studs?
The one I was working I used 9/32 -1/4 drive socket if not you can try 7mm - 1/4 drive socket

I have a 2013 Buick Enclave it keeps saying “check battery charging system” New battery still doing the same thing could it be the alternator??
Hello, the charging system is controlled by the PCM or power control module, check for charging system DTC codes in PCM.

0:48 You can remove the mount without touching the cooling system There's only 2 bolts that you have to loosen to take the engine mount bracket off the engine.
The engine torque strut has to be removed before the upoer bracket , the rear bolt is under the fuse box, the fuse box has to be removed to get to the rear bolt, after the upper bracket is removed the lower bracket has to be removed this bracket it bolted to the engine.
@@thecarfixchannel3046 yeah, you dont have to undo the radiator hose at all. I've replaced a water pump and alternator doing it this way. Only takes about 20 minutes to remove the fuse box and engine mount/bracket. After that just slid the alternator out and slid the new one in. Got it done in an hour and a half
