Idk if you've explored alabama gold belt in South East Alabama closer to Georgia but besides their I believe north east alabama has gold to yet be discovered but not many if any exploration for since 1800s and the move to California rush then . This is my opinion and intuition on this bit if you look at a sattelite and topographic map of the Tennessee foot hills going into north east alabama ending in huntsville and surrounding counties you see this erosion type pattern leading into a.low bowl formation ad if a glacier receded threw carvingnit out or sometimes it looks like a meteor impact and streak to me plus theirs a fault line somewhere near alabama Tennessee state line . Their is abundant amount if black sand in Tennessee River with tributaries all along it mostly swampy and every mountain starting north in south Tennessee feeds in to it . Especially close to huntsville morgan county area that's where I'm from, you have bedrock walls every where . I've been to areas where walking threw woods and come up on a 10 ft wide crack in the earth slopping down the hill that just gets deeper and wider and has shelves of what used to be waterfall with pools of peebles and whatever has collected . My uncle was member of GPAA , lived by the river entire life and idk if he ever found any but so often he would pan some black sand randomly and would always say theirs gold somewhere around hear its just gotta be found . In lacys spring bordering huntsville separated by the river their is a quarry that pits out bedrock with quartz veinnz in it pink rose quartz I've even found purple crystals in the quartz from driveways that was made by the rock from their . But just like the gold belt is feed from the down hill flow from Georgia rivers and streams I believe north alabama feed by Tennessee is somewhere collecting all these years , and caves out the wahoo most caves in the world I believe andnsink holes wherever they lead with caverns of constant flowing water deep into earth feeding some other water source more South or straight to ocean for all we know . Their could be a.plateu in the bowl I talked about where sandstone acts like a filter and had caught plenty of gold in a pocket under ground . Look at it on a map and tell me it doesn't seem like a geological possibility from the pattern on maps

As Mother took me upstairs to the Ladies Room, I noticed there were 3 Restrooms: Ladies (on the Left) Men's in the middle, and the 3rd: Negros ... Mom: "Why do they get their own Restroom here??!?", I asked. If you keep driving 10 minutes and take a left instead of taking the left to go to the falls it will take you a couple miles down stream it's also an easy access point, way more place to prospect. That's where I was at while you were recording your video. They also allow you to run a sluice box. Nice video.

Bush tucker and prospecting sharing a screen? Why not. You both use pans. Just make sure you each use the appropriate kind - I don't think Garrett made theirs with camp fires and sizzling meat in mind. .

Cool stuff guys! New sub. here. I'm from TN and love going to the mountains and east Tennessee creeks and streams for some good fishing and panning. We love going to creeks and just rock hunting. I'm not sure what type or rock that is. One thing for sure it's an old rock ,he he. Talk to some of the old farmers and people that live around the area. Good luck!
Living in Polk County I love going to Coker creek! The blue rock you found is phylite from the Anakeesta Formation. It’s a beautiful rock when wet, when it drys it’s definitely less impressive
Nice river, some gold there too... I was digging basicaly mud on creek with hardly any water, i had to dig a hole to be able have some water... Just super fine dust, but well, it is gold... :-)
Wildcat is a good creek hard to access I remember the weekend we hauled my 6” keene across tellico and hit the waterfalls about 8’ down good times, make a sucker tube hand dredge easy to clean out them cracks!
I drove right through there earlier this month on my way to Georgia..sadly it was 9 pm and we had another 1.5hrs left of driving to our airbnb. Found some specks in Yahoola creek in Dahlonega tho. Heavy pans!

Hey Klesh you were 30 min from my house we go to Coker falls all the time to pan, we also go to the end of Coker creek beside the hiwassee river it has pickers and large flower gold!
Awesome .. you're not too far from Me right now.. I'm just a few hours from Gold Camp Alabama. It's another SE gold spot that might be worth checking out if you haven't already.
First instinct is the blue slightly shimmery rock could possibly be worn down chunks of shale since it can come in a bunch of colors. It tends to break off in flatter chunks and it forms with minerals/mud and tends to have a lot of microscopic calcite and quartz in it which might make it a little shiny when smoothed out by a river over time. Doing some quick research seems that Tennessee has a fair bit of shale so I wouldn't be surprised. Someone feel free to correct me, but its my best guess.
Love some real quality gold mining experiences! It’s not even about what you find but I enjoy the feeling of doing what the old timers did a long time ago in the same place! Such an awesome experience.
In California gold country rivers have no place to pull off the road or the fence is basically up to the road. I've seen people with long ropes lowering equipment over almost straight down hillsides to get it to the rivers. People will always find a way.
Well, am in Tennessee and really this land isn't what I would call gold likely ground. But listening to what you said; I would pain it down to black sand, toss it in a bucket to bring it back to run it on a shaker table or something else. Flower gold is really hard to find by just panning. It better to separate it by other means. I have figured out a few but it's not really new ideas. Just not what I call commonly used. Am more interested in e-waste recovery than mining; very bad knee.
WOW! I just saw this video and had no clue there would be gold here. I live in upper east TN and spend a lot of time fishing in the creeks and streams. At age 66 I'm ready for a new hobby so I'm getting some equipment so I can pan for gold. Don't care if I never find the first tiny particle of gold. It's all in the fun of trying something new and it gives me a new excuse to wallow in the water...which is my first love anyway!
I love Tennessee. We have a cabin up in Salida. There is a ton of slate in the mountains. It comes in many colors on the darker side of greens and blues. Always a beautiful trip.

I thought the same right as I saw this comment and then he said it. They can't say much cause its a hand tool. That area would be awesome if you yabby pump it. Tennessee doesn't have alot of gold but its still gold.
I'm so used to you panning with the Jet-Dry ... Obviously you can't use it out on the river. My question is does any flower gold float away or are you able to catch it in the pan. I'm assuming that getting a better "wrist swish" is the key? Ugh...I need to practice more!
Usually if the gold is already wet it doesn't have a chance to become dry and hydrophobic. So jet dry or any surfactant really isn't necessary while on the river. It's usually more of an issue once the gold gets dry, even for a split second when panning it back in your pan.
You should come to the Georgia Gold Belt, Dahlonega surrounding areas is most famous but you can check throughout the belt and help those who are beginners in the area for good spots to find a place to enjoy the fun, health and nature
Was just in Dahlonega a month or two ago, visited the Crisson Gold Mine and did some gold panning in Tennessee while I was in the area. Very cool spot!
That was a blast! I'm from Tennessee, the Clarksville area. Family has properties with creeks with small water falls and Bedrock. I'm itching to go back and wash some Rocks

Interesting. On first seeing one of these videos I just assumed the guy on screen had also been the guitarist on the intro music. 'Klesh Guitars' is a bit of a clue, but the whole feel of it fit with rock music of the metal variety from word one. Are you a 'metalhead', Spencer? If not mine may just have been a case of 'takes one to know one' in action. Mind you, Klesh is a good two decades or so younger than me (I'm putting him in his mid to late 30s and apologise if I am too wide of the mark), but with metallic music that doesn't seem to matter. Heavy bands seem to be a lot more hard-wearing than other types, and span multiple decades with their catalogues. One I like, Hawkwind, have been around since 1969, and seem to be a training ground, or holiday home (maybe 'rest home' might be more appropriate for the more long-in-the-tooth members), for some serious rock heavyweights - Ginger Baker, Lemmie, and the SF/Fantasy author Michael Moorcock to name but two and, er, one author. They have made entire albums based on Moorcock's fiction. But Klesh looks a bit like Justin Sullivan of New Model Army, so that sort of confirmed it for me. .
Many people get to much in a hurry classifying at the rivers. My 9 year old daughter was helping me yesterday and found a 4.25 gram Sweet nugget in the 1/2 inch classifier. Most people really don't really look at the big stuff before they dump it. Yuba river in California is a great place to prospect I've been doing it for 25 years. You never know what your gonna find.
Trying to dig dirt out of the center of a river is much harder than most people would think..very impressive how you two did...I was giggling the whole time😆

This is where I pan. I haven’t found much. Maybe 100 micro specks and one tiny flake out of 2 trips. Actually making a week long trip out there next week to try wildcat creek as well as Coker.
Me and my husband live here in Tn and we’re going to start panning here in Citico creek area because we usually go up there just to swim but my kids found a lot of rocks called quartz vain? I’m new at this but found a bunch where we swim camp fish been going up there for years but never thought about it now I am 😊I’m interested now I’m retired female vet nothing better to do right I’m only 45 and I feel like I’m just board I geuss!
We were just out there a couple days ago, drove 3 hours out of our way because "americas first gold rush site" was kinda a must go, kinda frustrated, the welcome center was closed so I drove around for an hours before finally finding that EXACT SAME SPOT you were at with just 30 min before we drove back out before sunset. I dug those crevices and didn't find a thing. I dug behind that big rock on the far side finding a bunch of black sand, NOTHING, dug along the bank on your side next to those crevices, NOTHING. I'd occasionally see a sparkle, but nothing to write home about. I heard from some guys online you have to hike another hour or so from that spot to find anything decent. Got back to Ohio and found some old stone along a creek side, found more gold and a small red agate in 1 pan. Gonna head back down to that spot in the next couple days for sure. I need to take another trip back out to Colorado, especially South Park, best panning of my life out there.
Yeah there was very little gold there but there was definitely some flour gold. Very similar to clear creek here in Colorado, especially the Arapahoe bar gold panning area it reminded me of
@@Klesh I actually started panning when I was out in Colorado last year, I had always talked about it, so when we took a cross country to see the inlaws in cali I decided I HAD to. Toured some mines on the way west, an on the way east decided to give it a try. Stopped at that shop over by the main pass, the guy said you lived close. not sure. But I had GREAT luck both there and in South Park, I'm gonna have to head back out there sometime soon.

If you keep driving 10 minutes and take a left instead of taking the left to go to the falls it will take you a couple miles down stream it's also an easy access point, way more place to prospect. That's where I was at while you were recording your video. They also allow you to run a sluice box. Nice video.
Are you talking about lower Coker Creek? Left is the falls, right is lower. Lower has better spots, you're right.

Bush tucker and prospecting sharing a screen? Why not. You both use pans. Just make sure you each use the appropriate kind - I don't think Garrett made theirs with camp fires and sizzling meat in mind.

If you're in Australia you can find tons of it. Lots of people with metal detectors out there finding big pieces.

Cool stuff guys! New sub. here. I'm from TN and love going to the mountains and east Tennessee creeks and streams for some good fishing and panning. We love going to creeks and just rock hunting. I'm not sure what type or rock that is. One thing for sure it's an old rock ,he he. Talk to some of the old farmers and people that live around the area. Good luck!

Living in Polk County I love going to Coker creek! The blue rock you found is phylite from the Anakeesta Formation. It’s a beautiful rock when wet, when it drys it’s definitely less impressive

Wildcat is a good creek hard to access I remember the weekend we hauled my 6” keene across tellico and hit the waterfalls about 8’ down good times, make a sucker tube hand dredge easy to clean out them cracks!
I drove right through there earlier this month on my way to Georgia..sadly it was 9 pm and we had another 1.5hrs left of driving to our airbnb. Found some specks in Yahoola creek in Dahlonega tho. Heavy pans!

Awesome .. you're not too far from Me right now.. I'm just a few hours from Gold Camp Alabama. It's another SE gold spot that might be worth checking out if you haven't already.
First instinct is the blue slightly shimmery rock could possibly be worn down chunks of shale since it can come in a bunch of colors. It tends to break off in flatter chunks and it forms with minerals/mud and tends to have a lot of microscopic calcite and quartz in it which might make it a little shiny when smoothed out by a river over time. Doing some quick research seems that Tennessee has a fair bit of shale so I wouldn't be surprised. Someone feel free to correct me, but its my best guess.
Love some real quality gold mining experiences! It’s not even about what you find but I enjoy the feeling of doing what the old timers did a long time ago in the same place! Such an awesome experience.
In California gold country rivers have no place to pull off the road or the fence is basically up to the road. I've seen people with long ropes lowering equipment over almost straight down hillsides to get it to the rivers. People will always find a way.
Well, am in Tennessee and really this land isn't what I would call gold likely ground. But listening to what you said; I would pain it down to black sand, toss it in a bucket to bring it back to run it on a shaker table or something else. Flower gold is really hard to find by just panning. It better to separate it by other means. I have figured out a few but it's not really new ideas. Just not what I call commonly used. Am more interested in e-waste recovery than mining; very bad knee.

WOW! I just saw this video and had no clue there would be gold here. I live in upper east TN and spend a lot of time fishing in the creeks and streams. At age 66 I'm ready for a new hobby so I'm getting some equipment so I can pan for gold. Don't care if I never find the first tiny particle of gold. It's all in the fun of trying something new and it gives me a new excuse to wallow in the water...which is my first love anyway!

I love Tennessee. We have a cabin up in Salida. There is a ton of slate in the mountains. It comes in many colors on the darker side of greens and blues. Always a beautiful trip.

I'm so used to you panning with the Jet-Dry ... Obviously you can't use it out on the river.
My question is does any flower gold float away or are you able to catch it in the pan. I'm assuming that getting a better "wrist swish" is the key? Ugh...I need to practice more!
Usually if the gold is already wet it doesn't have a chance to become dry and hydrophobic. So jet dry or any surfactant really isn't necessary while on the river. It's usually more of an issue once the gold gets dry, even for a split second when panning it back in your pan.
Nice spot for fun. If you make it out to GA, lake Allatoona. The surrounding streams have still produced over one ounce nuggets.

When you said much darker on your 1sr pan there was a red Saphire! The hue made it seem like that!
You should come to the Georgia Gold Belt, Dahlonega surrounding areas is most famous but you can check throughout the belt and help those who are beginners in the area for good spots to find a place to enjoy the fun, health and nature
Was just in Dahlonega a month or two ago, visited the Crisson Gold Mine and did some gold panning in Tennessee while I was in the area. Very cool spot!

The flat rock with the sheen is a metamorphic rock called phyllite.

Schist happens...the rock that shimmers....forms in metamorphic zones. Unless I'm wrong you can carve that stuff with a pocket knife and polish. :)
Nice work great to watch! Here in most places on the West Coast of New Zealand I would expect a lot more then that from just a 2L test pan, still great video and like you said not a what to get rich just a ton of fun! Keep it coming!

Interesting. On first seeing one of these videos I just assumed the guy on screen had also been the guitarist on the intro music. 'Klesh Guitars' is a bit of a clue, but the whole feel of it fit with rock music of the metal variety from word one.
Are you a 'metalhead', Spencer? If not mine may just have been a case of 'takes one to know one' in action.
Mind you, Klesh is a good two decades or so younger than me (I'm putting him in his mid to late 30s and apologise if I am too wide of the mark), but with metallic music that doesn't seem to matter. Heavy bands seem to be a lot more hard-wearing than other types, and span multiple decades with their catalogues.
One I like, Hawkwind, have been around since 1969, and seem to be a training ground, or holiday home (maybe 'rest home' might be more appropriate for the more long-in-the-tooth members), for some serious rock heavyweights - Ginger Baker, Lemmie, and the SF/Fantasy author Michael Moorcock to name but two and, er, one author. They have made entire albums based on Moorcock's fiction.
But Klesh looks a bit like Justin Sullivan of New Model Army, so that sort of confirmed it for me.

I’ve seen the shimmery rocks in Deep Creek Bryson City, NC. Once they are dry they don’t shimmer and they seem heavier. Dunno what they are though.
Many people get to much in a hurry classifying at the rivers. My 9 year old daughter was helping me yesterday and found a 4.25 gram Sweet nugget in the 1/2 inch classifier. Most people really don't really look at the big stuff before they dump it. Yuba river in California is a great place to prospect I've been doing it for 25 years. You never know what your gonna find.

The blue shimmering rocks are shale. And you CAN find pickers and nuggets there with a pan and shovel.
I can't ever find jack diddly squat lol. I miss Nevada. Desert prospecting is a lot different than using a sluice.

This is where I pan. I haven’t found much. Maybe 100 micro specks and one tiny flake out of 2 trips. Actually making a week long trip out there next week to try wildcat creek as well as Coker.

Me and my husband live here in Tn and we’re going to start panning here in Citico creek area because we usually go up there just to swim but my kids found a lot of rocks called quartz vain? I’m new at this but found a bunch where we swim camp fish been going up there for years but never thought about it now I am 😊I’m interested now I’m retired female vet nothing better to do right I’m only 45 and I feel like I’m just board I geuss!

We were just out there a couple days ago, drove 3 hours out of our way because "americas first gold rush site" was kinda a must go, kinda frustrated, the welcome center was closed so I drove around for an hours before finally finding that EXACT SAME SPOT you were at with just 30 min before we drove back out before sunset. I dug those crevices and didn't find a thing. I dug behind that big rock on the far side finding a bunch of black sand, NOTHING, dug along the bank on your side next to those crevices, NOTHING.
I'd occasionally see a sparkle, but nothing to write home about.
I heard from some guys online you have to hike another hour or so from that spot to find anything decent.
Got back to Ohio and found some old stone along a creek side, found more gold and a small red agate in 1 pan. Gonna head back down to that spot in the next couple days for sure.
I need to take another trip back out to Colorado, especially South Park, best panning of my life out there.
Yeah there was very little gold there but there was definitely some flour gold. Very similar to clear creek here in Colorado, especially the Arapahoe bar gold panning area it reminded me of
@@Klesh I actually started panning when I was out in Colorado last year, I had always talked about it, so when we took a cross country to see the inlaws in cali I decided I HAD to. Toured some mines on the way west, an on the way east decided to give it a try.
Stopped at that shop over by the main pass, the guy said you lived close. not sure. But I had GREAT luck both there and in South Park, I'm gonna have to head back out there sometime soon.

Ive been to Coker Creek I panned for 2 days all day. I found more gold in central Indiana in 1 day. But the falls at Coker Creek are beautiful.
