Nice video, I have a '94 Suzuki Carry and first gear is very, very low. You really don't want to pull out into an intersection in first gear if something is coming. LOL Once I get into 2nd the speed picks up, even tho it's pretty low as well. Turns a lot of high rpm's but just runs forever. Mine is about 90% "off road" as I use it on the farm like a "side by side". I do drive it to the post office and local station for gas. Everyone stops and asks a million questions. LOL
they can be had for around 7k in that condition, really practical little truck it did a lot of work for me. My van journey is just beginning but its the same platform.

@@theshadetreewelder5043 that one the air was still working fine, it would blow out of the vents (the heat was defrost / floor only) and it did pretty good but it robbed about a third of the engine's power so it was as I called it air brakes. My van has converted r34 system that works good too.

I saw the Gwinnett county tag. I’m right up the street In Jefferson. Which leads me to a question. How is it to get a tag for one of these to where you can drive it on the road in GA? As simple as any other car or is there more to it being a mini truck and/or an import?
Man, I would say a solid yes I daily drove that thing for most of the time I had it. my normal truck got like two uses out of maybe a year lol. it had heat ac and a crazy stereo. it would get you killed in a wreck but other than that it was the funnest pickup I ever had. I have a turbocharged van version of it now.

I noticed you’re tired and like them and wondered if you could share with me what they are and where you got them. In addition will they work with the stock set up. Thank you for your time Bill

the most common is rubber being old and springing leaks. I spent about 4000 on my van's lines and coolant hoses (there's more than 15). Second I would say is the dreaded timing belt / water pump but I was shocked at how easy it was for my shop to do. They don't even know that car and did it without a problem. Oil should be 2.9 quarts of 5w30, easy. My van is turbo so it takes 10-30 but same amount. That's about it, my van was more problematic, like the clutch cable broke, fuel pump went out but these pickups don't have those so they are pretty damn reliable. I consider it like a toyota. Daihatsu was always built like a toyota.

@@theegg2414 I think to import it fo street use it has to be 25+ years old or older. a 2019 might be more immediately reliable but many are automatics which suck and you won't be able to take it on the street. Vans are not really set up to off road as much as the pickups are.

You know you can hear in this fellers voice I’m betting a pretty good feller all the he way around, man I got the Mini Truck fever bad. Did the LED headlights make a big difference? Noticed this was 2 years ago, how you feel about the truck now, what’s it like living with it daily?
Yes the LED conversion (all of the lights) shaved about 10v off the alternator draw. I now have a van exactly like it but the van is turbo with a 5 speed. I LOVE it, been dailying both for the past 3 years. I did spend quite a chunk on the van's underside it had bad hoses and lines, but luckily they can be built from other car parts it was just a chore getting the big stuff from japan like the radiator. In all they are shockingly good reliable little cars and the 4 wheel drive is nice and low like a tractor. The van is like ten times faster than the pickup and it's got more room to do stuff but yet I can still haul lumber and stuff. It's a convertible too, driving it with the top open and the windows down is glorious. I have a review of it too check the channel.
@Poppy Neese oh I've had the fever ever since I saw my first one it was a clapped out Honda. I had a 4 wheeler for 7 years and then I saw my hijet on Facebook, had to have it. They are about the funnest car you can own, I'm sure a brand new Ferrari doesn't hold a candle in the wind. I get looks and talk to people almost every time I go out.
@@LeonRFpoa there’s a guy I see at the dump about every Saturday morning, it’s shot in a green like bed liner with black wheels looks so good, I think it’s a hijet, I had to walk over and talk to him, super nice person, said he had a viper and the hijet gets like 100 times more attention and thumbs up, he like me has a F150 and said he rarely drives it anymore if he’s around the house. Can’t wait to see the video on the van!

amazon. H4 style HID sealed beam lights for a jeep cherokee you'll need the relays too. They were like light bars I have a video of it.

you WILL need 2 7mm aluminum spacers on the front wheels to keep them off the springs but they're cheap on amazon it'll be 4 x 110 size
