      Well, ADA MP-1 with a Chandler TubeDriver Rack in the FX Loop (as an EQ), Alesis Quadreverb2, into a Peavey Classic 50/50 an EL84 monster, feeding (2) ported 1x12 cabs loaded with Celestion G12 Modern Lead. This has been together since the late 80's and is being currently disassembled because of the team at Fractal and the AxeFx3.

    To date, only four Synergy SYN-2's with 8 modules feeding a SYN-5050 power amp, run stereo to Celestion Creamback M65 and H75. It's like having a pile of amps at your disposal. Controlled by a Morningstar MC8. Dirt simple MIDI control.
    Effects (as of now), are just a few I rotate in the loop of the Synergy system and sit on top of the rack. DigiTech Luxe for pitch shift and to split to stereo (has to be first), sometimes a simple Boss DC-2W is there instead. Boss MD-500, Boss RV-500 and Neo Instruments Ventilator II. I know the MD-500 has rotary, but I like the Vent II better. Plus, it's easy to just step on it here and there when I need it.

    Leon, you had the perfect timing! Your video is out and I just finished rewiring my rig. I have a JMP-1 I use with a Torpedo CAB, but my main thing right now is my IR-200 I use with a Boss EQ for boosting and tone shaping. For effects I use a H9 mostly with a DD-500 delay and a TC G-Major I have since it came out and which I use for some things like I don't have with the other gear or use the compressor which isn't bad at all. I have this all in a 3U rack with a patchbay and the pedals in a drawer. I just finished checking the connections and played a bit with everything on. It was a pleasure to play to what you had as a jam at the end.

    What is the mixer doing? You have all the effects in parallel and mix them? But, then, how you get the chorus into the delay, for example? I asked again in another one of your videos but you didn't answer, probably you were too busy. Wouldn't be simpler if you ran one effect into the other and turn on/off the ones you need?

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's all running in parallel. Any series stuff I can do with the Axe-Fx

  • @lore88824
    @lore88824 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Now, even though you kind of gave the explanation in the video, a serious question: since you could basically do everything you are doing with the rack just with the AxeFx, are you holding onto vintage rack pieces for any particular reason, sound, practicality, voodoo? Please, expand on this as much as you can, I’m wondering if all of the rack gear I have around the studio “needs” to be wired into a rack. Also, I guess that behemoth just stays in the studio and you are not lugging it around to gigs. Does the modeler cover the same sonic ground in live contexts?

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah I'd never take this out of the house. I love the way the Axe-Fx sounds, and in many ways it's the way i get "my sound". A few reasons I have the old stuff racked up;
      -It sounds great, and in my opinion deserves to be used and those sounds should be shared and celebrated.
      -Vanity. They look cool. Looking at them makes me want to turn them on and play guitar. Playing guitar is always fun.
      -As reference units. Stuff like the Lex reverb, TC delay and Eventide detune "just work" for so many things, so I can compare and contrast with tones I've dialled in on the Axe. Or I can dial them up to compare against new products I may be demoing.
      -To expand on the last point, I can spend time recreating their sonic character on the Axe and then share those settings as blocks for anyone with an Axe-Fx to try immediately, for free.
      -I like to collect this stuff as a hobby outside of my main passion and living which is playing music.

  • @lukather1
    @lukather1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question - does it really matter about the type of wet speakers on a wdw setup
    Would a good pair of JB 12” or 10” speakers for wet and then use my atomic for dry be any good
    The reverb could benefit with a PA type speaker not sure about delays !??
    Any one have ideas ? Could you use a 8” PA speaker for wets only !

    So your dry is on a separate channel in the sm10 and the effects units are running 100% wet/kill dry on their own channels in the sm10?

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they're all running 100% wet and in parallel.
