    So I think the demon seeks out individuals who possess some resentment or anger and turns it into pure hatred. At some point after killing Elise's mum, he begins to feed on the already existing anger of Elise's dad and turns it into pure hatred and evil. I'm assuming he did the same to Ted.
    It may be cheesy but it's pretty clear that the reason the spirit of Elise's mum was able to defeat the demon was because of her love (though maybe just temporarily).
    And the crazy thing is, when Elise opened the door to the Lambert's she left it open, which is how the Lipstick face demon managed to cross over.

    I felt the same. There were some surprises in this movie, especially finding out the girl locked up wasn't even a ghost! I was like...okay, I'm intrigued. But once they resolved that issue...yeah. The writers clearly didn't know where to go from there.

      it looks like keyface is one of if not the only demon in charge of making other demons, he seems to want to capture souls in his jail and then fill them with hate and regret until their soul becomes corrupted enough and they become a demon, at least that's my personal headcannon for 4. I think the red-face demon is elise's father, who was corrupted his entire life and in his death, evidence being that his soul is also trapped by keyface (which i admit could just be an illusion made by keyface). The other demon we see (the man who can't breathe in 3) operates with a different MO than red face or key face, and it could be because red-face just does what key-face has taught him, lock up a soul in their secret lair, using a metal iron chain around their neck (this happens to dalton, to elise in the jail, and also to each of the real-life girls who are captured). Red-face being elise's father (formerly i'd say, the corruption was complete into someone new) would explain red face's obsession with following elise around and how he got to dalton through the door that she left open.
      edit: also in 4 when elise first enters the house and goes to her old bedroom, there is a fake-out scare that we see where the lights are mostly off and we can see a completely pitch black silhouette standing behind elise, but then the lights come on and it's just her dad's old uniform. the only other COMPLETELY black silhouette by any spirit in the insidious universe is the red-face demon's when he's standing in the corner pointing to dalton in 1

      @@jansonshrock2859 Elise's father falls into dust at the end - after he attacks key-face. Likely going beyond or fully ceasing to exist. I think red-face is just one of the monsters deep in the Further. Potentially one of the actual demons and not humans hurting other humans.

  • @JoyaLewisTheMusician

    so i found an article from The Wrap website that talks about that moment when they opened the door and saw Dalton:
    **I interpreted that moment, when Elise and her nieces encounter Dalton in the Further, to mean that she inadvertently opened the door, literally and metaphorically, for the demons to go after Dalton and generally cause chaos for the Lambert family. Leigh Whannell, the co-creator of the “Insidious” series and writer of all four films, said when I asked him that I was right to read it that way.**
    **“I thought it would be interesting to play upon the idea that Elise herself had some hand in that first film by opening doors and running through,” Whannell said, before elaborating further on what exactly the red doors actually are.**

    Thoroughly understanding movies like this, especially the ending with the mother coming back and defeating the demon, takes having an understanding of the spirit world, higher vibrational spirits/beings/energies versus lower vibrational spirits/beings/energies, how fear plays a role in giving lower vibrational/darker entities “power,” etc., etc.
    That's not to say that everything these types of films show is 100% accurate, necessarily; certain aspects to them, though, have pretty objective representations of how things in the spirit world/heaven and higher vibrational spirits versus lower vibrational ones work.
    What went down with Elise blowing the whistle, her mother arriving, and her mother putting the demon in its place made a ton of sense to me due to having that understanding of these things I mentioned. When Elise blows the whistle, and as the scene cuts to the lantern that Elise’s mother grabs, you can see the lantern get brighter and brighter and brighter with a powerful energy of light before she takes hold of the lantern. Light, light beings or “lightworkers” *[as they are called],* angels/guardian angels, spirit guides, higher vibrational spirits/beings/energy, etc., are far more powerful/stronger than darker and lower vibrational ones.
    The lantern signifies that power the light or those of the light has over the darker energy, low vibrational spirits, demons, etc., which is why it had such an immense impact on the demon/entity that terrorized the souls it kept in its cages.

    • @mjm3091
      @mjm3091 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't really need all that bs - to understand the movie. What you need is just extra 10 minutes of like Director's cut to make the plot not as fast paced at the end. Because they did reveal after reveal after reveal, with no pauses.
      Whole thing was very straight forward though and actually explained either in previous movies or during earlier scenes of this movie. You don't have to babble yourself into this whole cultish spiritual terminology and ideology.

      I mean Warrens aren't Christian and their solutions are always far from Jesus (and that's not even touching all the gross stuff the real ones did).
      Elise was actually working fully according to what the Christian doctrine talks about, when it comes to spiritual dangers - you are alive, you are of this world. Nothing has power over you. You don't need to be Christian to accomplish that, you just need to try living a good life and not touch things you aren't supposed to touch.

    Like I said it would be Elise that I rather have help me because of how relligious the Warrens are and I do not beleive in all that stuff. good reaction girls and yes I agree the end was a lot of things happening but I like the fact that love conqures over evil and if you need those you love they will always be there for you. I do love this movie because of how many scary things happen in it and it actually had be on the edge of my seat when watching it as well. I own all of them and can not wait for the new one to come out as well because it looks just as intense as this one was and maybe a bit more than even this one. The rules are that if you are alive you are stronger than the demons but the demons themselves feed on fear and anger and so if you give into that it only makes them stronger also those who have passed on and are apart of the light can help when needed against the darkness hence her mother was able to banish it the way she did.

    • @mjm3091
      @mjm3091 ปีที่แล้ว

      Warrens aren't even religious - what they do has nothing to do with actual Christian beliefs and tradition. Not to mention the original Warrens were awful people. Ed was abusive alcoholic and pdf file. Lorraine was a liar who allowed him.
      That's kinda what I didn't like with what girls said at the end. No - Insidious actually has a lot of Christian imagery and beliefs interlocked into the story. But all of you got already taught all those wrong Hollywood tropes that are repeated after Exorcist and other similar movies.
      Insidious depiction of afterlife is actually slightly more closer to Christian depiction. Not to mention the split between real world (that has almost no supernatural activities) and spiritual world (were all the evil exists to lure people out) is more correct with Christian doctrine.
      There are no levitating dolls or monsters under the beds. No doors to hell in monasteries or demonic nuns that can resurrect bodies. No awful tropes where crosses get flipped around or melted. No goo, no visual possessions or poltergeists.

    13:15 She probably is vibing, because clearly the monster was her father and what's she really was scared about - were the memories of her trauma. Good that she didnt go there alone.
    42:20 For me they needed like extra 30 minutes. Build up the nieces more and the final fight scene also could have been extended and explained more. And I wouldn't even change a lot about the whole premise or plot twist - it was really original and cool. The monster possessing men to kidnap victims, was very on brand with other movies. But it was still fresh, giving you that real world danger element, which was also great addition in the second movie.
    Even the final scene when they fight it - if that was extended like at least 5-10 more minutes and the whole scene with the father was expanded as well, so it wouldn't be random when he helps them - that would really change the whole finale for a better. It was too fast paced and I wonder, if there is a director cut that could fix it.
    Like this movie had potential to be 10/10 at least for this series' vibe (I mean it's still like horror movie for teens). That scene with suitcases in the tunnel? That was great. Playing on the obvious tropes and making joke of those. Same with all the time travel and leading to previous movies - that actually makes it so much more fresh than other modern horror franchises.
    Is it still tacky? Yes, but I guess it is a charm of those movies. I actually wonder - if fifth movie will go even further back in time. This movie kinda closed the story for Elise once again - connecting all four movies, but we could continue with her and her (at the time living) husband - fighting a monster, that she actually fought as a kid with her mother, or something.
    Or we could go into a story that happened between third and fourth movie, so we could keep the goofballs.
    ED: Oh, so we are going young adult Dalton + dead Elise storyline.
    45:30 I don't agree with that - there is actually a lot of Christian imagery in Insidious. However general plotline doesn't go for the same tropes all those other movies go with.
    Like for example Conjuring series - for you maybe feels more based in Christianity. But it actually takes way more freedom and Hollywood bs as Insidious does. Maybe even more - it takes and copies the tropes of older bastardised Christianity based movies like Exorcist and mixes it with clean washed version of Warrens.
    Just because they put people in clothes of Nuns and Priests - doesn't mean the whole story is even close to what Christian doctrine and beliefs are. For most part - all of it is just a twisted thing an American director created in his mind. Like what I am trying to say is that - that's what those movies taught you about Christian depiction of demons and stuff. Not what actual thing should be.
    Spiritualism of Insidious is closer to some ideas and philosophies people had through ages. It just doesn't use Christianity in a tacky camp way Conjuring does.
    There is no monsters in real world ready to levitate you. No scary possessed dolls. No crosses that go up. Looking at Insidious - you have a man who locks off room with Bibles and you have people split between Heaven and purgatory like Further. Everything supernatural - mostly only happens in the other, spiritual world. And if people get hurt, it's usually because of other real world people.
    That's way closer depiction of the world according to Christian tradition, than the mish-mash of horror tropes Conjuring always produces.
    48:00 Warrens were disgusting human beings. Elise all the way. Especially as she is only sinning, by going spiritual, she isn't fully blasphemous like Warrens were - profiting of vulnerable people.
    48:30 The movie Warrens also kinda couldn't really help. They botched a lot of things and they tried to clear the name of that murderer. I also just can't separate them from the real people. Elise is at least fictional cool old lady.
    48:35 Well hard for them to not know the rules - because they made them all up. Elise actually growing and learning it all and believing in the living and love itself shows a much better approach for me. Because that's the base level idea. Not all those magic spells Warrens do when fighting pagan gods. Also Warrens very clearly think they are better than the others.
    49:30 I mean if you genetically can transfer projecting - just don't have kids. It's like with other deadly illnesses. You can always adopt or have a dog like Elise.

    I always have a bit of an issue with the cliche reveal that a severely abusive person turns out to be forced by some monster or entity. It feels a bit too forgiving of the abusive person and takes away their accountability as a character. Awful people don't need demons to be awful.

    It’s psychic, not psychologist. And seen the trailer for the fight movie yet?

    I think that I would prefer to have the Warrens help me, if I needed it. I've actually encountered ghosts, but they were more like Anna, not evil and not even frightening to me. My mother was murdered when I was a child and years later, I went back to the old house that we lived in when she died. To make a long story short, her unfinished business was me, so when I visited and reassured her that I was okay, it put her spirit to rest. For me, personally, it was difficult for me to be scared of the ghost when she was my own mother. I'm not a medium and I can't usually see or sense spirits unless they really want me to know that they're there. There is a very, very distinct difference between spirits of people who have passed on and demons, though. I've never encountered a demon and I really hope that I never do. Oh, and did you guys notice the nods to the Warrens? You mentioned the name Lorraine in the first movie, but Elise's golden retriever is also named Warren.

      @@samuelclayhills3298 Did you not watch the whole video? The guys specifically asked who you would rather have help you deal with ghosts or a demon. I was actually answering the question they asked in the video. So, who asked you for your comments on my answer to their question?

    • @mjm3091
      @mjm3091 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@psychokitty71I mean at the same time you gave us way too much compared to actually answering the question. So I will double that original commenter - "who asked"?
      I think you should talk to a therapist instead. Because you either have a lot of trauma that you should work through. Or you have a lot of delusions and are telling stories right now (hopefully your mother is well). You aren't supposed to see spirits - as there is no such thing. If you see something like that, you are very likely getting poisoned with a gas leak or you are in the middle of an episode - you should definitely check that with a doctor.
      And you probably should also work out the fact that you picked Warrens. I can only hope, you meant the movie ones. Not the awful real people that scammed vulnerable people and did very disgusting crimes.

    • @psychokitty71
      @psychokitty71 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mjm3091 My mother actually was murdered. Would you like to see a copy of the newspaper article about her case? My comment was to explain not only that I would chose the Warrens, but why. And the only thing that I know about the Warrens is from the movies, however I've never heard of them being convicted of any crimes. Of course you're going to consider them scammers if you don't believe in ghosts yourself. Personally, I've had too many experiences to doubt such things. I honestly feel sorry for you. I find it sad when people live their lives being so close-minded. There's a lot of joy, wonder, and even comfort that you're missing out on. I'll take what you consider to be delusions any day over your close-mindedness and it's my life, so my choice.

    I liked this movie overall but I feel the main problem for me is that they tried too many times to insert comic relief into situations and scenes that were either serious or just didn't need a sense of comedy

    I like this one the best from this series...
    I would say dad wasen't good person per see I think he was normal person but bc he worked where he was he had a lot mental bagage, also bc maybe he really didn't like Elise talking about ghost especially connected to his job, I think he was on abusive side and the demon make it bigger and worst, especially when mom died bc she was good soul in house...
    So I see him as bad person that demon hyperboled worse in.
    Hmm about mom help I think it was her good spirit, but also Elise power.
    I don't know hmm but Warrens mayby 60 to 40 Elise

    I like this one best for all the reasons Stella said. It wasn't all power of Christ compels you. Plus your reactions were great. I think I'd rather have Elyse? Spelling lol. But, I am constantly bugged by spirits, small ways overly showy ways. Thankfully not as drastic as movies depict, but she'd chat em up and tell them to piss off for me hopefully. And best case they latch onto her 😁.
    Recommending: Tremors 1-3. 🤔 It's hard to think of franchises that don't blow in round two but umm
    The Strangers 1-2
    Wrong Turn 1-3 but I never saw 3 after the huge disappointment of two😁.
    Ju-on/The Grudge 1-3
    The Haunting in Connecticut 1-2

    Criticism, the greatest power of movie watchers, can be unforgiving or honorable, it's so powerful that it can destroy a man's career or make him among the best of his field, we have too much power in our heads

    FOR STELLA & HAYLEY: I love watching both of your reactions to all of the Insidious movies. Huge fan of yours and will continue to be. I know that the last Insidious movies didn't meet your expectations; But I loved every single one of them! Don't shoot down\criticize one of my favorite horror franchises next to The Conjuring Universe and The Halloween Universe! LOL :) Speaking as a Writer\Director and Producer, if you feel like they could be do better (in your eyes), why don't you try writing an Insidious story or horror movie? Show them what they could do better. ;) No hard feelings. Have a blessed day! :)
