My Japanese teacher expected that from us as well, but she herself was Japanese. It becomes second nature after a while, but some words/names still sound odd (even after 15+ years of studying the language). "Susanoo" and "Houou" still sound weird when I hear them spoken. Thats so english speakers get used to phonetically consistent vowels, since japan vowels are on most cases short and some are held just for a bit

@Kibate Yeah, but there's substantially less pressure in the US to go with the flow. We're a lot more prone to go our own way, which has its own good and bad points. @Kibate I'm sorry but have you been to France? French culture is literally the opposite. Everyone thinks exclusively for themselves and their own profit. This includes driving dangerously, cutting in line is a frequent one, standing in other people's ways and getting mad when they politely ask you to move, listen blasting speakers in public transport and more fun stuff. It comes across as rude, but the French are just so individualistic. They way of life literally translates to notgivingashitism. And then they don't understand why people get offend when they do that shit in other countries.
