Nathan AirChime P3 New Cast Train Horn

Neat little AirChime P3 making some noise in the woods.
I prefer these over the new-cast P5's.
This horn is running a double diaphragm setup. In the future I may run it with 1/4" lines, as it sounds a bit harsh with my current setup. Reduced air flow should mellow it out nicely.
Air pressure ranged from 100psi to 50psi in this video. Fed by a 20 gallon setup.
I love how air efficient these horns are.

Yknow SP gets alot of praise for these horns but theres another contender worth the praise. Illinois Central, they used the hell outta these horns from the late 60's until they were bought by CN.

Here in America, these were widely used on lots of different railroads, most notably Southern Pacific.

That horn was pretty much the de facto standard horn on SP locomotives (I think except for the AC4400CW's that arrived in the 1990's before they merged with UP).

I bought this from a friend. It has like-new condition internals.
I would strongly advise you AGAINST buying from Hornblasters as they are completely overpriced and they do horrible things to their horns such as powder coating the internal surfaces, unless you buy their brand new products, which are still just completely overpriced considering what Nathan Airchime charges brand new directly.
I recommend you join a few horn collecting groups on Facebook and buying from collectors. At least then you know you’re getting a product that has been cared for. I’m unsure what the market is like now, but $650-$800 USD ought to get you a decent used P3 or K3 of sort.
