He’s supposed to go next year as a chaperone for his brother and his school but doubt it will happen. We are moving there in a few short years though so we still have that to look forward too lol

    Shinichi, I loved this tour of this store! I congratulate you on your self discipline. It's hard to resist impulse shopping. I would have stocked up in the curry and noodle sections. What a fantastic selection and reasonable prices. The only drawback that I noticed was how narrow the aisles are but then I remembered that most Japanese are slender compared to Westerners.🤣. Looking forward to watching your tour of 7-Elevens. The Japanese 7-Elevens have to be the best in the world! The selection and quality of their convenience foods is spectacular. Thanks for this program today. You have really put me in a good mood. 🤗. Take care and have a pleasant weekend. ❤🛫🙏🌎

    For those who go to japan in the summer and stay outside a lot, don quijote has aloe vera if you get sunburned. One year we went and got burned and the hotel staff had no idea what we were asking for.

    As someone in a wheelchair, I appreciate the mention of an elevator and the fact that the store has one. Some of the aisles do still look like they'd be a bit difficult to get through though.

    • @lynnkihara2323
      @lynnkihara2323 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It is super duper crowded! Even if you have the mini wheelchair, you will find moving about very difficult. Japan stores tend to cram a lot of products into a small space.

      I've noticed that in a lot of Asian countries. I haven't researched their accessibility laws and whatnot, but it seems like they leave it up to individual businesses if they want to accommodate people with disabilities and maybe only standardize such accommodation in government offices (and maybe office buildings in general???).

    • @TY-xy5ei
      @TY-xy5ei 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, DonQi is usually suuuper crowded. It’s creepily empty in this video because of COVID, but it is quite difficult and a bit overwhelming during normal times.

    The camera height and focus was perfect. The only thing that made me a little queasy was how fast you were moving as I was trying to see everything. I think maybe you didn't realize how interesting it would be to those of us who have never been there and were hurrying thinking it might be boring? Trader Joe's sells 1 type of furikake for $2.49.

    Haha! Stealth shopping! Thank you for taking us to Don Quijote, Shinichi, even though I know it must have made you a tiny bit nervous. Going with you is my only chance to see the store. So many products! And most of them very reasonably priced. I can see how that's a great place to go for locals and tourists alike.
    I know nothing about video editing. I was wondering how difficult it is to lay in a voice track. Can you dub in your voice over the ambient sound? I was thinking it might be less "risky" (in terms of the store management realizing you were filming) if you just filmed without speaking and then dubbed in your commentary. I don't want you to get "in trouble" filming for us ever. Or get Satoshi miffed with you. lol Just a (probably dumb) thought.

    But I still buy them in the Netherlands, because furikake is so awesome once you get to taste it for the the first time.....you will go back again and again.

    On the Taco Yaki makers. I am in the USA and have a cast iron pan that holds 12 balls. We found it makes great Taco Yaki, yes, but amazing meatballs. We also have made pancake balls with bits of bacon or sausage. If you have just wanted round meatballs these pans are the ticket. Grr, I should have waited until the end to comment. furikake for like 70 cents. I pay 4
    US dollars for a pack like that on sale. We do get some special flavors of Kit Kat imported from Japan they cost between 8 US dollars and 15 US dollars in the size you held up. Potatoes are very inexpensive here. Even at a farmers market 5lb for 3 US dollars. Soy milk is close. They do still sell Pezz in most of the world. Oh looking forward to getting the new Pretz, we get the corn that is great and the roast that is gross. That was fun do it again.

    And they still sell pez in grocery stores here in Norway, I buy them every now and then. One can also buy loose half packages in the mixed candy section, so when they don't have a character I like, I usually buy them instead. Mostly just orange and strawberry as they are my favourites. It's a discount megastore, as I understand it sells everything from products to food.

    Wow, looking really young in this video. I enjoyed it. I was hoping to see lobster crackers, my favorite.

    This one's my favourite Don Quijote I've been too! Loved this tour, especially since we can't be there this year!

      Me too-- every Don Quijote has certain items you can't buy in the other stores in the chain. In the Asakusa Donki I bought a pen with a toilet on the end and when you press a button the little white lid flips open and a poo emerges. I also bought another pen that has a big poo on the end and when you press a button the turd goes flying suddenly but it's on a little retractable string so it won't get lost in the office if I fire it at someone's head ;) Like flea markets and thrift shops, it pays to be patient and just look through everything. You just never know what you'll find.
