    PSA: The issue is the Z1E drivers, if you've sideloaded 780m drivers, it should just be plug and play. Which is

      True.
      Sideloaded 780m on my LeGo with the OneXGPU (1st edition)
      It's been plug and play for me as well

      I did. Ask okest. Asus or windows has a tendency now to auto update stuff and it borks everything. I specifically avoided updated the armory crate while using this and randomly the drivers got borked after a reboot. I’ve got a video to prove it wasn’t just disabled and I did not go in an update armory crate.

    I would say do put too much hope in driver support from onex. Since releasing the onexgpu one, they have only put out one singular driver. In fact, I'd say don't even get that driver. Go to amd and download the driver for the gpu from them. They update them regularly and the compatibility is much better.

    Hey CPPC, I have a question. I have the onexgpu with the 7600m xt. It great 1200p (1080p on legion go) performance and good enough 1600p (1440p on legion go). I have the condition of needing the latest and greatest but I really don't want to buy it if its not really worth it. Would you say its worth it to get great 1600p performance? All my handheld gaming is on the Legion Go.

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      For the legion go it’s 100% worth it. It works perfect on the legion from what all my colleagues say. I know it can handle even 4k gaming so at 1600p that would be a breeze for this. There’s a pretty good sized upgrade from the 7600 to this also. The extra vram also helps a ton when playing large world games at higher res

      @cppctek thank man. I could sell my onexgpu one to offset the cost. And right now, early bird pricing, its only $200 more for the 2. Did they mention when they were rolling this out? I know they have shipped a handful of units but anything concrete?

  • @chrisboucher2813
    @chrisboucher2813 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Tbh, these are nice. I got the 7600m xt, but the incompatibility of 2 amd drivers is a pain. Especially for people who aren't tech savey. Better off building your own egpu with a nvidia card. Plus, how are you supposed to clean the fan on these things?

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great points. Cleaning the fans won’t be too bad. Just blow it out with compressed air. But yeah man the drivers and issues I had even after filming were a bit much and windows has done something to a few folks I know who have egpus on multiple handhelds after this last update. I’ll be buying an egpu enclosure and I’ve got a few Nvidia cards I can toss around and test. I definitely think that’s going to be a smoother experience for the ally x users

    • @chrisboucher2813
      @chrisboucher2813 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @cppctek yeah with the nvidia card, you have to run a line of code in the command prompt, I believe. But you just do that once, and you're good after that, no more messing around. You can build your own for cheap or pick up something with a built-in power supply. Aoostar has one with oculink and USB4. I think it can handle up to a 4070 super

    Because you have to install new drivers, are you still able to unplug the eGPU and play handheld right away or do you have to keep swapping drivers?

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I was running the latest amd drivers from amd . Com of course at the time of filming that video. I also had several colleagues be riddled with the same issues on other handhelds but maybe some content creators just got lucky I guess. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for sure but with the little gaming time I had with it, it was fun while it was gaming and I think it’s a very powerful e-gpu. I definitely was tankful for the opportunity to have it as a loaner to review but maybe if I had more than a few days of testing I would have had a more enjoyable experience. It’s hard when you spend days of fafo to get to a few days of gaming and then more fafo. It was bittersweet

I use it for productivity too, with Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, and I have a huge screen in my glasses , win11 pc on the go for music, video, writing, editing and of course games. I am considering getting the gpu2 vs making my own larger one and just keeping it at home. Great video anyway!

      Thunderbolt 5 spec exist but you’d be unable to find devices like egpus that have support for it and unable to find windows devices that have thunderbolt 5 as well. It’s still not an adopted spec yet. We won’t see thunderbolt 5 egpus till late next year. So even tho you can buy a thunderbolt 5 cable it does you no good if the egpu doesn’t have it and your devices don’t have it yet either. We’re working with what’s available now. Next year late next year is so so far away

    WHY do they keep using AMD gpu's in these? An Nvidia one would be great in this form factor!

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I for sure which there would be more nvidia but I think there’s a few good reasons. I think the majority of people use these on everything except the rog ally and the majority of people use them on legion go, onexplayer handhelds and many more. I also think the reason they don’t use nvidia is due to pricing and agreements. Nvidia lately hasn’t seem to be selling alot of chips to egpu manufacturers like we see with amd so the word is it’s due to pricing and agreements that they are or aren’t willing to make. Could be we may be about to see some things change as we’re no longer in a chip shortage and I think there’s going to be some leftover chips for egpus to be made with I hope.

      I literally have over clarified this. 1: the title says “Not sponsored” 2: I verbally say I did not get to keep this, I was not paid. This was a loaner. Loaner means I borrowed it. That means I didn’t get to keep it or get paid.
      I did the video because I wanted to make the video. I’m guessing you didn’t watch the video at all huh? At the @ 1:00 mark I verbally clarify this with the upmost precision.
