"There is no right in war, just people with different opinions"

I like how calm (by that i don't mean unemotional) Tim discusses these kind of difficult subjects.

Rise Against is the absolute best. Seen them at least ten times, and never gets old.

When I first heard hero of war, I was pro war, and even thought it might be a dis on the troops. But i heard tim talk about it, and realized that the song is not anti-troop; it only sympathizes with those who went through the system and then did/saw horrible things that made them end up questioning the war's true purpose.

The first casualty of war is truth. But this song really nails the truth for veterans post WW2

I have to say, these interviews are pretty good. There are different questions than the regular interviewers ask. And Tim seems to be comfy there :)

As long as we support the men and women who stand up and say yes I will defend this country of mine although its being run by people whose motives are questionable I am happy and when it comes down to it they make great music and just because they may not believe something I think or you think doesn't mean we shouldn't love the music they make

"Defending one's country" is one of the most frequently misused phrases. If any military would refrain from any action that goes beyond defending the integrity of their country's territory we would basically have no war in the world. There would have been no 9/11 as no-one would have any reason to hate the US.
Defending your country anywhere else than at your borders is not defending but invading and thus creating the very enemies you'll be fighting tomorrow.

22steve02 Sadly, if it was not he U.S. Government invading other nations, it would be another nation. Humans are not naturally peaceful creatures, for the most part. We thrive during conflict, and that sadly, at least in my opinion, will never change. Though you are correct, a peaceful world seems to always be just out of grasp.

I am a soldier (currently reserve) in a NATO army and never felt offended by this song. It is beautiful even though painting only one of the many sides of the war. Yes, there are people who are there to kill, to prove what a man they are, to get paid...there are those who reflect and get confused why today serving your people means destroying the lives of other people.
It is really a matter of civilisations, same thing that goes on since the dawn of time. Resources on this planet are limited, people are too many. The whole purpose of mankind, is progress. We are striving to become gods from day one. Anyone not going that way should stay aside and not prevent the rest of us move forward.
This is a war not only for resources but also silencing a degrading point of view which ran out of arguments long ago and resorted to violence. Their society did nothing to stop it and therefore is guilty of its spread. There are no victims in this war, just people who had to do something long ago but decided to play along and now pay the same price as the wahabi pigs.

I don't see them as anti-military, in stead it's anti war, who in their sane mind is pro war? Just because you don't support the war doesn't mean you don't support the soldier. So don't really call them "Anti-military" because he is anti-war which is a very sane thing.

I think it's more about how people are blinded by delusions of fighting for their country, freedom and human rights when in harsh reality soldiers are most often only fighting for some corporate guy in a suit. A big example is going into Iraq for the oil and everyone thought they were protecting their country from danger from weapons of mass destruction but countless people died jusy for oil...for money.
