Orlando, Florida - Home of Mickey Mouse and sunny beach vacations, a city that 60 million people flock to every year whether it’s for the theme parks or just the sun and heat that South Florida is known for. But for the friends and family of 24 year old Jennifer Kesse, this city would become a symbol of all that was wrong and evil in the world. Jennifer was last seen on January 23rd, 2006, she spoke to her family and her boyfriend on the phone that evening and said she was going to bed, she was tired from a trip she had just home from. But the next day, when she didn’t show up for work, her parents traveled to her Orlando condo and found everything normal, as if she had woken up and planned to go to work that day. There was still water in the shower, clothes tossed on an unmade bed, and a wet towel in the laundry room. Days later, Jennifer’s 2004 black Chevy Malibu would be found abandoned a mile down the road, in a not so great part of town, but the car held no clues as to where Jennifer Kesse was either. The one clue that law enforcement was able to retrieve should have cracked the case wide open. It was surveillance video of a person parking Jennifer’s car and walking away from it without even a glance back, and the surveillance clicked a photo of this person every three seconds, and every three seconds this person's face was obscured by a tall wrought iron fence. To this day, Jennifer Kesse has not been found, dead or alive, and the people who love her have fought tirelessly for answers, a fight that included receiving over 16 thousand pages of police records on the investigation, and these pages held more clues which has only fed the fire of this mystery.

After watching killer confessions and hearing a serial killer say, he picks his victims by how distracted they are....on the phone, texting, etc.......I'll never pick my phone up walking to the car or to the store again. I'm so hyper aware of my surroundings now. Jennifer was prepared, she knew what to do and this still happened. Which tells me her guard was down and whoever took her might have known her 🤔 Her dad is a truly amazing person. My dad would never stop looking for me if I disappeared :(
I also wonder if this was maybe a woman? FBI couldn't determine this person's gender and women do wear short hair like this quite often. And I feel like there's still(and was esp in 2006) this idea that women are less dangerous or cannot be in on a crime, or wouldn't hurt another woman etc...she might've been on her guard around men and wary of them if they approached her, even to ask for directions or time(again 2006 and mobile phones were 100% a thing but not as much as now) but if it was a woman...maybe not completely trusting but she'd be less suspicious or scared than she'd be of a dude. and that all it took.
Not necessarily. The guy could've had a gun
@Jasmine Hooper very true! But I think with how prepared she was and her knowing not to ever let them take you to a second location....I think she would've fought or yelled or put up a damn good fight. So maybe it was multiple people like Stephanie mentioned or a female, like the above comment said. Either way, I don't think she would've gone willingly. So they either blitzed her or it was someone she "knew" and her guard was down. Just my opinion!
@Nina .Vale a woman, would make some sense!! Maybe someone is asking for directions or something. A woman would definitely make me put my guard down more than a man! Either way, I think she would've fought and fought hard if she had the chance, too. :(
Ugh this is chilling. Makes me hate myself for every time I took a walk distracted. This world is so scary man.
My guess is that one of the biggest obstacles in this case is the fact that the folks on that construction crew are nearly impossible to track down. I’m sure some were cleared, but these companies often hire day laborers, undocumented individuals, and folks that aren’t easy to track (especially back when this happened). I’m a South Floridian. My husband and I bought a condo conversion on the beach back in 2004. We were one of the first folks to move into the building while construction and remodeling were still underway. I remember getting ready one morning and walking out of the bathroom into my living room where two construction guys were walking through my front door to repair something or other. They had keys to my apartment; no knock, no warning - nothing. I was lucky that they were honest folks just doing their job, but not everyone is. My guess, some one on that crew was watching her comings and goings.
My thoughts 100%
I completely agree. I feel like someone saw her getting ready for work through the window and waited for her to leave to grab her & brought her into one of the empty condos.
Isn't that what happened to Adrianne Shelley?
@@mumplaysthesims8396 Yeh, it was a construction worker working in her building, Not sure if he was documented or not.
I remember this case from Dateline shortly after she went missing. I agree one of the construction workers is the most likely suspect to me.
I am a 23 yr woman and I work in construction. I totally see why she was so nervous having all of those men around. I work with non English speakers and I can speak Spanish so I know what they say about me. To know how well she tried to keep herself safe, it devastates me to know she had probably her worst fear come to life. I am truly sympathetic to her family and her. This is the first I'm hearing of this case, but it hits close to home knowing she felt unsafe in an area she should feel the safest.
Well said! 💖
@Pistons Bad Boy Era Jennifer Kesse complained to friends and family about the creepy construction workers…… so idk where you are getting that there is “zero” evidence. It’s a theory that isn’t far fetched and should be explored.
Totally releate! I used to take walks on my breaks in the parking lot at my work (nighttime). The building had one large area under construction, and one day I realized, these workers could be daily hires, and even if not the construction project would be over before long. If I were to be taken/ killed in a crime of opportunity, the killer could be gone with little chance of trace. I decided to do my walking laps INSIDE of the building after I realized that. Also- visited our timeshare at Westgate shortly after this first happened, they had signs up looking for her, because she worked there.
@Pistons Bad Boy Era maybe they can go out of their way to not be a creepy human being, the fact that you defend that behavior says a lot, smfh.
@Pistons Bad Boy Era How about construction worker's stop making women feel frigging uncomfortable then with their creepy behaviour. The cheap comments, the yelling. No woman especially one that lives alone would feel comfortable with that.
I buried my twenty-one year old daughter and living without her has been absolute hell! However, I can honestly say that I would rather bury my child because wondering if she was out there somewhere would be constantly running through my mind...that would be a hundred time worse!!
My heart goes out to her family and friends 💜
Thank you so much for your podcast, you guys are fantastic!
I give you a heartfelt hug - so sorry for your loss. May you be strengthened each day knowing your daughter is with you always. An angel 😇 in Heaven watching over you ♥️
I'm so sorry for your loss. I have a young daughter myself and another on the way and I cannot imagine ever, ever having to bury one of my sweet kids. The idea of one going missing and not knowing where they are is beyond terrifying too.
I'm so sorry for your loss ma'am.🤎🙏🏾🤎
You are 100% correct. I’m sorry you lost your daughter- I also buried a child and I can’t imagine not knowing where my child was. Her parents need closure.
I lived in Florida for 20 years. Don’t get me started on the police down there
❤
When we lost my brother my mom said she was grateful that he died in our house and not out on the street somewhere we couldn’t find him. I have to agree. As awful as it is to lose someone in any capacity. I think it would be a special kind of torture to not know where your loved one is, if they are alive or dead, if they are being held somewhere and all the questions I’m sure people have when their loved ones go missing without a trace.
Hope and Healing.🥀🥀🥀🥀
Sending you and your mom love ❤❤❤
So sorry for the loss of your brother 😢

@@lil_PowPow did I miss this somehow? What’s the time stamp for it? 👀
@@lil_PowPow nvm it literally happened right after I sent the comment. I was watching it and reading the comments and read a spoiler on accident. Lmao 😅 whoops. But yo, that shit was comical & not to mention, awkward asf. Lol 😂 I love how he just skipped right over what she said and stayed on track. Da boy said um-excuse me, back to business!!! Lol 😫🤣 I died laughing and watched it twice now. 😭😬
It blows my mind how absolutely safe she tried to be and something still happened to her. 🥺
😢yes I agree
Sometimes I wonder if too much safety precautions and obsessing over fear of safety actually manifests something happening by focusing on it or if she had some deep rooted fear because subconsciously she knew something would happen to her later. Idunno. I don’t know anything about this area but I do believe deeply in intuition as well as the power of our words. I hope whoever took her gets caught and pays for what they did but nothing will ever right this wrong
It is so sad and ironic that Jenn was so careful and cautious, but still fell prey to one or more bad people. My gut tells me it is a man or men connected to the construction that had been watching her and planning their crime. Very scary.
Exactly, she was such an unlikely victim!! She was mentally and financially stable, well-adjusted, smart, had a supportive family and boyfriend and was very careful too. It's crazy she was still targeted successfully. I do feel for her family who have been amazing still trying to locate her after so many years.
Who knows I’m from Florida. Back then no cameras everywhere. I can tell you this Florida does not follow laws the way the rest do. You feel like you can do what you want.
Yea what i think too
Make sure to stay off the phone without thinking that you’re safe just because you are in fact on the phone with somebody you’re close to. We all know it’s a coin flip if a police department is even going to follow up if said person your close with calls 911 and reports you missing or something happening to you since you aren’t going to be anywhere in the area. I mean they might come to your location instead. It doesn’t make a ton of sense to have a false sense of security from being on the phone honestly. It’s a cruel world out there.
I wonder if there are any other missing women who had lived in construction areas around that time plus or minus a few years.
I had a close call in my car recently. I was getting ready to drive off to work in the morning, and was distracted on my phone. Suddenly I saw a shadow run past the back of car (I was parked on the street). My immediate instinct was to lock my doors. All of a sudden there was a man standing at my passenger side window. I can only assume he expected me not to notice him, because he bent down and waved at me. He was also wearing black gloves btw. Anyways my heart dropped into my stomach, and luckily my car was already on so I just took off.
That’s so scary. First thing I do when I get in my car is hit the lock button. I wish it did it on its own.
Btw that guy probs had bad intentions. If he needed something, hr could’ve just gone up to your window. Going all the war around like that is sus behavior. I think he wanted to sneak up on you. Glad you got out safe
Also stood out to me: Jenn spoke to her father on the phone prior to her disappearance and said "I have to go to work, but construction workers are here and I don't want to leave them alone here" Jenn's boyfriend said she goes to work pretty early in the morning, so these workers are known to show up early in the morning when she needs to go to work. Jenn seems to disappear prior to leaving for work. This is an uncommon time of day to have visitors or to have contact with anyone really. This helps narrow the pool of people she'd likely encounter.
💯 most places have rules that construction work can't start until 10 or some specific time... 🤔
The time (early morning) has always stood out to me too. People going to work, the crews showing up to work. I managed apts for yrs and you definitely have a set time when contractor’s can start, typically between 8am-9am.
So, the Kesse family PI found out a group of workers were staying in the apartment right across from her & while she was locking her door (someone/worker from that apt) grabbed her & took her inside of that apt, killed her and was disposed of later. One worker drove her car, dropped basically next door. This is a good theory except for the “disposal theory” due to the family and cops were on the case by that night and the mother/father and brother lived in her apartment for months trying to find her. I think it would have been to risky. But the PI thinks she was rolled into carpet and dumped somewhere.
No she definitely left for work.
Someone on Reddit used software to enhance the security camera images and the man walking has light colored overalls on. He was wearing what a painter would wear. I'm convinced it was a painter at the complex. What gets me is how comfortable he was. For one person to take her, silence her and hide her within hours, drive her car, park it at a residential area then casually walk back to the scene without any witnesses seems so unlikely. I'm 5'3'' and can't imagine him transporting and hiding her without help. Also, he/whoever else was involved could've disposed of her briefcase because cash or valuables were taken.
*From ME and My CO-W.o.r.k.e.r., Nostradamus:..*The "ABducter" DID H.a.v.e. An Accomplice To The "CRIME"*!!
Your comment struck me.... If this person is so comfortable, this makes me think they're undocumented... If they're from a high-crime/corrupted country, they could get away with things easier, and possibly with the perp thinking they can just go back to their home country (or knowing they're returning soon), can give them even more of a comfortable edge
I would love one day for you guys to cover the Ray Rivera case because it is so insane to me I can never wrap my head around it and would love Derricks perspective
True! That one always sticks with Me too, I shared it with all My Family so I could discuss it with them.
Steph did a deep dive for Ray on her channel! I think it's two or three episodes long
Yes!!!
Stephanie already covered this case on her channel, so it’s unlikely they will cover it here too, but maybe one day
That's a good suggestion!
A few years ago I lived in a housing community with Jennifer’s parents and on the back of their car the whole back windshield was Jennifer’s missing pic and info. I guess we used to leave to work at the same time each day because I would see their car and her beautiful face every day. She has always been on my mind as I too went to UCF. 💛
living in orlando for years, i still see her missing persons poster everywhere in the city. praying this case gets a resolution and the family gets the closure that they deserve 💗
I moved down to orlando to do the disney college program days before she went missing, Jennifers case still haunts me and breaks my heart, I still live in the area and seeing posters for her ocassionally, absolutely wrecks me 😭
Same. It is sad that Millenia was seen as so upscale and safe because it had/has so much crime coming from Pine Hills and Parramore and being so close to the jail.
Yes! I commented the same thing. I'm from this area and I remember seeing at least 100 irl around the time she went missing.
Yes her posters were everywhere when it first happened and they are still being put up 17 years later.
Lived in Orlando all my life. I'll always know her face bc of the posters and billboards around town. I saw one again not too long ago.
When I was in undergrad at UCF and living near campus, a construction worker entered my apartment without notice or announcing his presence. I heard the door open and froze to process it. The two people who had access were my boyfriend and roommate. I saw my roommate napping before I walked into my room, and my boyfriend was napping on my bed. When I realized that, I jumped up and hid behind my door with a knife, terrified for my life. As I heard him come up the hall, I slammed my door and yelled for him to get the fuck out, and I was calling the police. THAT'S when he announced he was sent to fix something in the unit. He said the front office gave him the key, telling him it was unoccupied. When I confronted them, they said they "lost" it. 🤬 Never heard from the parent property owner conglomerate, despite angrily emailing their corporate office for months.
Practices like that and complexes utter disregard for the personal safety of their tenants are so dangerous and so callous. They don't care that people have unfettered access to other people's homes because they don't have to.
I will never forget how afraid I was. I can't imagine the horror of her worst fear coming true.
When my daughter was in college, we put a chain lock on her bedroom door because the workers would do the same thing! It’s unbelievable.
I know someone who works in construction and …..a lot of people blame the workers….however the people who have the last word in hiring a lot of these people are the management team of the building. So anyone that lives in buildings….please VET the owners of the buildings, the management team etc. because a lot of these landlords are cheap and to save money they will hire certain people not vetting them appropriately and turn a blind eye (not caring about the safety of the tenants) 👀
Thank you for discussing this case. I live in Orlando and Jennifer disappeared when I was in HS and I can still vividly remember her family and friends passing out missing flyers on a daily basis for over a month. Her flyers we’re literally every where. They even put a rose on every single flyer that was hung of hers around Valentine’s Day. It’s just devastating to know that the family still do not have answers. Also, just thought I’d mention, the area where she bought her condo is really not the best area in Orlando, it’s actually a pretty shady area. So who knows what may have happened. One rumor that kept going around was that a construction worker killed her and buried her in her complex around the area where they were still working on some construction. Either way, I pray that her parents get some sort of answer soon 🙏🏼
The totality of impact you all have EVERYTIME is unmatched. You draw out emotion in all of us that is so needed in todays society. One thing that makes me feel better: if I’m in a dark place alone I pretend to be on the phone with a police officer: “Hi Officer Campbell, I’ll see you in a few minutes. I’m in parking lot XYZ by the mall, I think I can see you around the corner.” Sounds a little silly but makes me feel better
I think it's smart move
@@astabjorgvinsdottir6554 thank you. I think saying your location out loud on the phone with an “officer” and saying you will see them soon would potentially intimidate a criminal, even in daylight.

Hey guys! I just popped in to say that I am a spotify listener of Crime Weekly, but I came here to subscribe to the channel because I really want to see Derrick on roller skates at 200k. Also I noticed you mention you were amazed that you have overseas listeners - well, warm greetings all the way from Poland 😎
The way she left of her own accord to go to work and went missing afterwards (as well as the car thing) reminds me so much of Jodi Huisentruit’s case. Another attractive young lady who lived alone, and a TV reporter as well. As a woman who lives alone myself, I always pay attention to cases like these. It’s awful to hear about. It’s terrifying.
Reminded me of the same case!
Yes it’s so similar!!! The Jodi case gives me chills. It is so unfortunate that it’s dangerous for a woman to be out before daylight and have to worry about being victimized.
Yes! I thought of that one too.
Jennifer never made it outside her building; as soon as she locked her door, she was grabbed and taken to a vacant condo by workers. Afterward, her body was simply thrown in with the construction debris and taken to a landfill that very evening. There's no car thing. Her car was simply driven there to divert LE attention away from the complex.
I agree with Derek about the safe call. Being on the phone is distracting and can take away from awareness.
The part that’s so terrifying about this case is that she was prepared for the worst at all times. She knew what to do in certain situations. As someone who is equally paranoid and always alert of my surroundings, it’s scary to know that in the end someone was able to get her. And she was far more prepared and aware than I am. Stay safe out there ladies 😭
"Why don't you ever reassure me?" The look on Derek's face was hilious.
I already listened to this on Friday, but let’s go part 2 ! Thanks for all you guys do. This story is so heartbreaking. She did all she could to stay safe.
Well no, at the least, she didn't put the pepper spray back on her key chain. It may have helped her.
Sorry, not trying to shoot you down, but it's just a shame that at least 1 thing in her arsenal wasn't available. It's been so long since this happened and I feel so badly for all those she's left behind. Must be torment for them all.

I’ve just started this video but I will say that when I first moved to Orlando I worked at Mall at Millenia and the first thing my new coworkers at the time did was warn me about the area. It’s a beautiful mall but nobody ever let anybody walk to their car alone. Before we moved we considered living there as it seems on the surface to be so nice. Can’t blame them at all for thinking the place was a good choice.

Growing up in Florida, her “missing person” signs were up for years and years and years. That photo of her was absolutely everywhere. This one is close to home. Her dad is such an incredible person.
This is so terribly sad. This feels like the my cousin's aunt's case. There was a small surveillance clip released where her aunty's attacker. He was obscured by an iron fence. The only closure we have is that they caught the guy, but he's pleading insanity.
I hope her family has some kind of closure or answer. My heart breaks for them.
I lived in Orlando for four years and when I tell you I BOOKED IT out of there in June.. loooord.. I mean it. That city is a hell hole and I experienced the most traumatic shit I could ever put in words living there. They call it Warlando because it's so bad. Even the "good" and "wealthy" areas aren't safe. My lease wasn't up till October and I literally couldn't take it anymore. I left my entire life there, went back down in October to put my stuff in storage and haven't been back since. I hired a moving company to take my stuff from storage and move it wherever I end up next. I went back to my hometown for my own safety and sanity for a while because of the things I dealt with. I will never ever ever recommend Orlando to anyone. The millennia area that she moved to is a wealthier area but it has an insane amount of crime. You have to keep your head on a swivel everywhere you go in that city.
Yup. Most of Orlando is high high crime. Barely any safe places and much of it looks nice but it’s putting lipstick on a pig. I’m from Florida born and raised and I’d never ever move there. Never
Yup. Remember that case Miya? Same thing. Apartment and maintenance guy killed her. So freaking sad.
Correct. Florida resident for nearly 30 years and while I don't live in Orlando, I am close enough and worked there for 20 years. I remember this case like it was yesterday. My sister worked for CFI and joined the search for her. Orlando is not fairy tales and cute characters everyone who doesn't live here thinks it is.
Im so sorry for your traumatizing events that you went through there in Orlando Florida. Glad to hear that you moved to a city where you feel safe Peace of mind is a Good thing sending blessings 💜
@@KarenKreis-qz1mp thank you so much. 🖤
I’m a New Yorker who moved to Orlando a few years back and after living there for a few weeks I knew that area near mall of Millenia was not a good place you go to the mall and you leave. So sad that the place she spent a lot of time looking for wasn’t what she thought it was.
Any tourists area, IMO is NEVER a place to make your home!!!
The conversation about finding happiness after such a tragedy reminded me of my friend who was murdered by her boyfriend. It is hard to get past. She'll be forever young. Even though I'm not as close to her as siblings, for example, it still feels like guilt to enjoy life when someone you cared about suffered so much. And especially scary to date and try another relationship, knowing my friend was a navy veteran, could fight, owned guns, but still died at the hands of a man. This will never leave my mind.
I’m sorry for your loss

I had been living on the east coast of Florida (about 40 minutes from Orlando) for about 5 months when this happened. As a recent college graduate myself, at the time, I remember being concerned for Jennifer and her family. It was all over the news. I hope this family one day gets the much needed answers they’ve been longing for.
It is so absolutely mind blowing how many safety measures she took every day, even down to having that button installed behind her bed, and something like this STILL happened to her. This world is cruel.
Lmao Derrick was so confused like "wait what??!" I love how things go over his head!
So glad you are covering this one. It’s always bothered me that the security camera failed to catch the face of the person who dropped off her car. Very frustrating.
Millenia was not a safe area. She unfortunately moved when the area was first gentrified and it gave a lot of people a false sense of safety with everything being "luxury" but it's between two very high crime areas and right next to the county jail and where the community mental health centers are.
I can’t wait for this. I’ll listen a bit later.
Hubby & I lived 10 minutes from her condo in Orlando when she disappeared. We had one son and I was pregnant with my 2nd. We then moved to Tampa only a few miles from where Jennifer attended high school. My sons have since competed in athletics against her high school, and I can’t help but think of her often. Her folks are awesome.
We never felt safe in our area of SW Orlando - MetroWest - crime was worsening there in the early-mid 2000s, and a lot of local police warned us to have an alarm system, and take extra care. The driver of the issue - huge construction projects bringing in a lot of people, but most critically, in this area we had several major highways rolling through our small area. Police said they believed we became a target for criminals because they could easily exit the area to head towards WPB & Miami, or to Tampa, or to Eastern FL, or northerly …. Gang activity was increasing … illegal immigration was increasing …
Looking forward to watching this. I’ll have a lot of comments surely, as I know this case really well. You never disappoint though. 😉
Not only that but criminals could definitely make things disappear if they wanted to in the Everglades.
@@Loyaltoafault210 Orlando is full of lakes and marshes … as is most of the state…. So they wouldn’t even need to drive down to the glades …. Sigh.
@@hlowrylong oh I know. I just recall hearing stories about certain parts in the glades where stuff would disappear.. 😢
@@Loyaltoafault210 For sure … but I think even criminals get nervous in the Everglades!!! It’s so vast and thick!!
Crazy story here in Tampa near where I live - 16 years ago a man driving his vehicle went missing, no banking action or any real enemies … well they just found him in his vehicle in one of the Palm Harbor retention pond within a neighborhood. I’m shocked that an accident like that could happen and friends family LE couldn’t find him … and yet it makes sense if he accidentally drove into that pond & bumped his head, passed out and then drowned…. No gps on his vehicle or phones at the time in the early-mid 2000s. And it was deep enough that no one could see the vehicle. There have been a couple of cases like that throughout the years, during which a vehicle is found having driven off a bridge … only to be found decades later. I can’t imagine.
I pray the Kesses find their baby someday. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
The fact that they took her car does lead me to believe that it could have very well been an employee of the contracted construction workers. I’m definitely beyond anxious and definitely looking forward to the next part in this case!!!!
Thank you for talking about this Derrick!
This poor woman was safety conscious to the point of almost sounding paranoid. It’s insane that she could just disappear like this. Clearly someone did something to her, but it’s so crazy.
You guys are my all time favorite true crime channel on youtube. I come back religiously to follow each case with you. You two do the BEST coverage on these cases. So thank you for your hard work. Please look into covering the Lauren Agee case and the Christian Andreacchio case. They have had me in an absolute chokehold for years. I would love your all’s insight. ❤️
Agreed! Crime weekly please cover these cases! 💕💞
thank you for covering this case! as someone who has grown up in Orlando for most of my life I have heard many people cover this case, and still see her missing posters often. I'm sure I will learn new things about this case like I did in your Kaylee Anthony deep dive!
It breaks my heart and scares me to my core that she was so safety conscious and this still happened. I hope she’s found soon.
NO ONE IS SAFE
Oh my gosh, I can't believe you two are covering Jennifer's case. I think about her all the time and just pray for justice. She and Brandon Lawson were the top two missing persons cases that have always haunted me and have never been able to get over. Brandon was recently finally able to be laid to rest with his family and I just wish the same for Jennifer's family
Wait, what's the news about Brandon? Just like you I was, or still am, most fixated about his fate.
Amen!
@@pipermaru5402 they did find his remains😢
Is there a way to send it requests?!?! I would love to see you cover the case of Kyron Horman. He was 7 when he disappeared in 2010 from Portland, or. Kyron was taken to school by his stepmother who stayed with him while he attended a science fair. She said she left school right after and that she remembers seeing Kyron walking down the hall to his first class. Unfortunately, Kyron never made it to first class. Everyone has a strong suspicion that the step mother has something to do with it! Especially since several people have accused her of trying to murder-for-hire.
Jennifer, Maura & Springfield Three drive me crazy with unansweres. Love your two minds together 🙏
Me too. Top 3 plus Jon Benet and Madeline McCann.
The slow look of realization on Derrick's face when he clocks in that Stephanie's talking about him not being attentive enough to her during the day was priceless lol. He was just baffled 😄
Ah, Stephanie…you’re a woman after my own heart!
The way you called out Derrick for leaving you hanging in the middle of an important dialogue was absolutely priceless!
Stephanie didn’t miss a beat; she was like listen up:
Let!a not get it twisted, Derrick. No, you’re not my husband. No, you’re not my boyfriend. However, you are my work partner and my friend. Thus, you are a man with an important position in my life. So, as such, Derrick, I expect your unerring support, the ability to tap into your intellectual prowess and your well thought out feedback to be available to me at all times. Don’t forget your greatest responsibility is to be ready to meet whatever my specific needs are instantaneously and without hesitation.
Yeah, Derrick, I wouldn’t over think it too much. You probably know by now resistance is futile.
I live in the Orlando area and have followed this case from the beginning. Thank you both so much for covering this. Praying for Jennifer and her loved ones.
Love your shows but the sponsor ads are getting out of hand. Keep up the good work on the cases, I hope to be able to enjoy more soon.
Derek you are so amazing!!! The both of you are honestly but you are a great example of a husband and a father....
Derek ROCKS
Just throwing this out there as a Floridian, myself. Orlando is not part of “south Florida.” It’s central Florida. And it doesn’t have beaches- it’s a landlocked city. The closest beach is about an hour away.
I like your new intro. :)
Thank you! That was bugging me!
I agree with Derek his explanation on why not to be on the phone makes a whole lot of sense
Thank you for covering Jennifer’s case. Her sorority is Alpha Delta Pi, not Alpha Phi. Her ADPi sisters have never forgotten.
I think a lot of us watching Crime Weekly have a similar sense of heightened caution and awareness in our daily life to do our best to keep out of dangerous situations like Jennifer did. I, like Jennifer, do take the approach of having someone on the phone with me while I’m alone and leaving the house or the car, ESPECIALLY at night, no exceptions. But I’m never holding the phone up to my ear, as I want both my hands free. I will just have one ear bud in, sorry Derrick, and I will tell the person on the other line, give me one minute (basically shut up for one minute) while I go out and get into the house/car. That way, I can still have all my senses but also the comfort of having someone who cares about me aware of what’s going on.
Ready to relax and watch this episode. Thanks Stephanie & Derrick. ❤
It’s true. My mother passed away when I was 11. My father when I was 17, a month before my senior year. He would’ve been 54 in just 20 days from his passing. He was my grandparents only son. And they are still here today, still taking care of me, their only granddaughter. They literally never shed a tear in front of me, they let me plan the whole funeral down to picking out his casket. They didn’t try to become my parents they actually thought I’d stop being a part of their life . When they told me that I was like, “what?! Why would I ever leave you? Y’all are literally all I have.” I struggle deeply with mental health issues and so I feel incredibly guilty that they can’t be on a beach somewhere enjoying their retirement. Instead they have to deal with a troubled person (me) . They sold their own house they built and raised my father in JUST SO I could keep MY home I grew up in, because that’s what I wanted. They do not judge me. I’ve ask my grandmother if she would care if I ever started an OF and she said “if that’s what you want to do alright”. They are genuinely the most God-like people I know. Some days I can’t get out of bed because of my mental health and they get up every morning. Have breakfast, do whatever needs to be done. I genuinely could never. I have NO idea ZERO idea how they hold it together. How they put up with me. How they aren’t resentful at God or anyone for what they deal with.
Thank you for this story. She lived 2 miles from me near the millenia mall. This story haunts me. For years I would see her family and just want to hug them 😔
I'm so glad y'all are covering Jennifer kesse's case! I heard about it in 2008 on 48hours. It has stuck with me ever since. Looking forward to hearing your take on it!
When I saw this was your next case I was so pumped. Her case is one I've always followed closely and y'all are my favorite podcasters
Have waited for you guys to cover this for so long !!!!! THANK YOU
I haven't said it yet, but I think about it every single time I watch crime weekly.... I loved Stephanie before this branch off even started.... my favorite true crime TH-camr! ..... then.... imagine that your favorite Big Brother player of all time joins the team?! Definitely my favorite channel. Your analysis, reporting and delivery of these stories rise far above the rest. I could have seen a case story 3 different times and I will always watch your views on it. MUCH LOVE!!!
LMAO at Derricks face when he realized you were talking to him. I almost spit out my tea!
Can I just say that I love your intro to all your stories. Can't wait to listen to this later. I remember this case well.
This was such a heartbreaking series. I hope someday soon the family will get answers.
I hadn’t realised until you started discussing that I remembered Jennifer’s case. How incredibly sad and frustrating for her family to have no closure and be left with endless hope but no knowing.
I’ve no doubt just by listening to her impressive work history and funding her own home she would have been a force to be reckoned with in life and continued to be such a success.
Knowing whoever did this be it one or more have continued to get away with it is heartbreaking 💔
omg derricks face when stephanie said why can’t you reassure ME 🤣😭
I have been waiting for a deep dive on this one. So terrible and way to close to home. 😢
Thank you guys! ❤
Love Stephanie's hair and overall style today 💖 Very classy!
Omfg the look on Derek’s face when Stephanie says ‘ why don’t you give me reassurance’ 😂😂😂 Love you guys! ✌️❤️
But why doesn’t he??!!
@@StephanieHarlowe yes he didn’t really give you a answer did he lol
I love that he picked on the fact that she was always doing the driving sounds like she was the one putting in the work
I've been hoping for this one 🙏 still hoping she will be found. you guys are awesome
Thank you for covering Jennifer’s case!! This is a case I often look for updates on and there is certainly not enough coverage on it. I truly hope her family finds answers
Oh man! When Stephanie just started talking and fussing at Derrick, the look of confusion on his face! Priceless!! Haven’t laughed that hard in awhile.
Thank you guys for everything you do!! Look forward to your episodes every week.
😂
I'm dying to know stephanie's hair routine , your hair looks healthier and much thicker . you so beautiful & thank you for your amazing work♥
Steph: I have 2 million unread texts
Also Steph: Why don't you text me back?
Lolllll
Stephanieeee!! Your hair looks SO GOOD girl! 💖
This is another case that has always haunted me. Thank you for covering it. Her family is amazing and have done so much to keep Jennifer's case alive. I pray her family finds the answers needed to bring Jennifer home. 💖
Jennifer was absolutely STUNNING and seemed like such a kind woman. This case makes me sad and has stuck with me for so many years. I hope she gets the justice she deserves & her family finds closure 🫶🏼
Yes Hope sooner Rather then Later
Just finished an old video wishing this was up. Refreshed and here it is. I'm only 8 minutes late. Thanks guys! Love you!
Assuming she had an alarm clock of some sort, or some sort of alarm to wake her up, if she’s gone out the night before, when the parents got there, the alarm clock would still be going off?? I wonder if the police took that into consideration. Happened to me a few times, I get home from spending the night at a friends to find my morning alarm still going off, so she must have waken up and get ready for work.
It really depends. Most of the clocks I’ve owned stop after about 7 minutes. I owned one that stopped after a minute. I had to get rid of that one because I kept sleeping through it 😅 I’ve just used my phone for years now though. In 2006 I had a color flip phone but didn’t use the alarm on that exclusively. I’m guessing she didn’t either.
It’s a good thought, but I don’t think we can count on that - because she had driven back from South FL straight to work, and then came home from work, and may have not yet set her alarm before going out. She could have been taken before she set it. She likely wouldn’t have had her alarm set because she had been out of town for a few days, and wouldn’t have wanted it to go off every morning while out of town. So she also could have set it and gone to bed, awoken to it, and be taken in the morning.
I would want to know whether she had to set her alarm for a different time in order to go on vacation - hopefully the police checked it. (Grabbing an earlier flight to grab a cruise, maybe she had to set it for much earlier than usual?)
@@hlowrylong yeah but this was later that night. She was home and going to sleep-then work.
Also my alarm clock goes off forever.
@@meemsters Most believe she was abducted that morning after waking up and preparing for work. She was likely abducted when walking out to her car or at her car - at least that’s what her parents & their private investigators believe.
Her phone & briefcase were never found, just as she hasn’t been found. 😞
@@meemsters My alarm clock goes off until the batteries die. I felt so sorry one time when my dogs who were in the house stuck listening to it all day. I know what you mean when saying your's goes off forever.
I'm about Jennifer's age and I've always felt connected to this case. I feel so terrible for her wonderful, kind parents. It has to be devastating. No one really understands until you have raised a child. It's the late nights, the taking them to the park, how this little person becomes an extension of yourself. Then they become teens and they grow up. Even this is difficult. You invest all of yourself in them. As a parent you would much rather it happen to you. I can't imagine their pain. They are my heroes for remaining so strong and not giving up. I hope they find all the answers they are looking for.
Such a nice close knit family. The not knowing must be hell. Unbearable pain every day. No one deserves that. Jennifer is such a beautiful soul. This case just breaks my heart. I hope the family can get answers to get closure. Thanks for covering the case, to bring new attention to Jennifer. The bad luck of the security camera image being obstructed. And Jennifer didn’t put the pepper spray back on her keychain. Makes me so sad.
thank you so much Stephanie! your videos are always so informative and i love the way you tell the victim's stories. you very clearly care about the cases and are so careful with how you handle the material. keep changing the world
❤️❤️❤️❤️
As safe as she was... and as alert as she was... she still became a victim of some terrible crime. That's so extremely unfortunate. And the person that parked her car and abandoned it.... that is the single most luckiest criminal on the face of the earth for their identity to be concealed by the fence.
NO ONE IS SAFE
I lived in and worked in Ocoee/Orlando during this time. The Kesse family have been amazing in keeping the LEOs feet to the fire.
With the safe call, I think it works really well as long as you pay attention to your surroundings WHILE on the phone. When I'd call my mom when I'd get back to my dorm at like midnight and have to park waaayyy in the back of the lot, I'd keep my head on a swivel and keep an ear out for anyone around me. I think doing both is the best course of action, personally. And keep a key in your hand in case you need to jab someone's throat.
Yes!!!!!
Omg i'm from this area!! This is the first missing person case that I remember, very big memory from my childhood. Her posters and flyers were EVERYWHERE. And they replayed that video over and over.
Excited for a 3 or 4 part case!
Your coverage, as always, was top notch on this one. 👌 10/10
I'm a Property Manager and I can promise you that I would NEVER let a contractor move into a vacant. Side note. If you are looking at a community ask if they do background checks on all of the vendors and workers. Lower-end communities don't do it and they will have people with convictions as the majority of the maintenance crew.
I've followed this case ever since seeing it on an episode of disappeared about 10 years ago. Thank you for looking into Jennifer's story. Xxx
It's beautiful to see real smiles on the whole family.
I hope Jenn is found.
I hope the Kesse family and Jennifer herself will get closure soon.
I'm so soooo happy you guys are covering this case!! Isn't it just crazy?? Poor Jennifer 😢. I just can't believe how the perps face is so hard to see! He or she have been walking the streets all these years!! That is soooo scary. Thanks for covering this case it needs more exposure for sure. Who better than you two 😀😀. Take care guys love your show!!! 💗💗
Thank you so much for covering this case! 🙏🏽✨💖✨
I hate to be “that guy”, but I’ve lived in Florida for several decades, lived 10 minutes from Jennifer’s condo when she disappeared, & now live 15 minutes from where she and her folks grew up.
So here are some helpful bits:
- Jennifer’s high school is pronounced “Gay-ther”
- Orlando is considered Central FL, not South FL;
- the beach picture is of Clearwater which is a couple hours from Orlando, close to Tampa near where she grew up, and is considered a nice area to drive to when visiting Orlando;
I’m happy to be your Florida consultant for free. Sorry to sound like a jerk, but figured you’d want to know. I’m sure there will be more, because I am OCD. 😉
I left you another message about the area, highways, crime & the influx of people, and will likely discuss the housing boom later. It was a CRAZY time; I was a banker there, then.
Heartbreaking story 100%.
Each week I look forward to watching a new episode. Excellent work. Thank You.
