  • Welcome to 'Live Free Travel Hard,' where each adventure is a gateway to the beauty of nature. Join us on an enriching camping escapade at Mill Creek Campground, a serene enclave within Dharug National Park. Our journey unfolds through scenic landscapes, unique wildlife encounters, and the tranquility of the great outdoors.
    Hawkesbury River Crossing:
Our weekend getaway begins with a unique experience - crossing the Hawkesbury River using Wisemans Ferry. This scenic ferry ride, our car gently swaying on the water, sets the tone for an extraordinary adventure.
    Campground Arrival and Setup:
Arriving on a hot Saturday morning, we wasted no time pitching our gazebo to escape the sun's intensity. Mill Creek Campground, nestled amidst dramatic sandstone cliffs, provides sites for small caravans, campervans, camper trailers, and tents. The tranquil setting offers a perfect backdrop for a weekend retreat.
Gas BBQ Facilities and Campsite Exploration:
One notable feature at Mill Creek is the availability of gas BBQ facilities. Our exploration revealed picturesque sandstone escarpments, lush eucalypt forests, and flat, grassy sites by the creek. Although the creek was minimal, the natural beauty surrounding us was abundant. Another standout feature of Mill Creek Campground is its micro flush toilets. For more details on the campground, visit the website at www.nationalpa...
    Wildlife Oasis:
The campground is a wildlife haven, with wombats, wallaroos, goannas, lyrebirds, and the distinctive chiming of bellbirds. Our lazy companions, the laze monitors, and bush turkeys added charm to the experience, creating moments immersed in the untamed beauty of the Australian bush.
Evening Exploration, Campfire Delights, and BBQ Under the Stars:
As the sun began to wane, we eagerly ventured out to explore the campground. The evening unfolded with the joy of crafting our own campfire, its warm glow becoming a centerpiece for our outdoor haven. Embraced by the night sky adorned with twinkling stars, we enjoyed the simplicity of making the campfire and indulged in the sweet delight of toasting marshmallows. The barbecue dinner under the stars became a cherished moment, creating lasting memories and providing the perfect ambiance for a restful sleep.
    Morning Tranquility and Farewell:
As the sun rose on the second day, we relished a peaceful breakfast, bidding farewell to our temporary haven. Before departing, we stopped at Hawkins Lookout at Wisemans Ferry, offering breathtaking views and a fitting end to our adventure.
    Plan Your Nature Escape:
Mill Creek Campground beckons nature enthusiasts, offering a unique blend of tranquility and adventure. Plan your own escape amid sandstone cliffs, wildlife wonders, and the serene beauty of Dharug National Park.

We are glad you enjoyed it. We did it in mid September on a warm day. I remember there were a few mozzies, but they went away after we lit the fire and didn't bother us at all.
