She was not American. She was from Spain, Juan Gabriel was from Mexico and he helped her become famous in Mexico. He was about to do a concert in Acapulco when he was informed his mother passed away. He still did the concert then write this song. Rocios soon passed away in a drowning accident in Acapulco. Her daughter Shaila sings this song as a duet with her mother by using video of her singing with her mother. If you don’t know the words look them up but they are VERY sad. Love your reaction.❤️❤️
