Brian should absolutely have been charged with murder. I shudder to think Denise could possibly be set free someday. Cheryl's impact statement had me bawling. The cracks in her voice surely represent the cracks in that poor mother's heart. It's very sad that her granddaughter is so cut off from her. Gut wrenching
I would think, after listening to her grandmother‘s impact statement, the granddaughter would at least make contact. She also shouldn’t be allowed to keep the insurance money. I know that might be an unpopular opinion.
30 years in the end? That woman definitely deserves to rot in prison and to not be let out to see the light of day. I call this a major injustice. Poor Mike and his mom..,
His poor mom’s victim impact statement had me in tears. Especially when she was talking about not being able to help her baby when he needed her. I felt that
"What an absolutely chilling story of betrayal and greed! The fact that Denise Williams and Brian Winchester orchestrated such a heinous plan, all for money and personal gain, is beyond comprehension. Mike trusted them both-one as his wife and the other as his best friend-only to be met with the ultimate betrayal. It’s a stark reminder of how dangerous unchecked greed and deception can be. Justice may have taken years, but at least the truth finally came to light. Truly heartbreaking and infuriating at the same time!"
i don’t believe people that claim divorce is “the ultimate sin” actually believe that…what they believe, is that others will judge them and they care so much what others think about them, that murder is somehow a better option. Their egos are so big that truly don’t think they’ll get caught 🤦♀️
I agree. Her whole identity was wrapped in being a perfect couple. Then she wanted out with another man, but created an out where she gets money, new man and becomes a victim because she's now a widow
His mom is amazing. She knew her son wouldn't have just not come home. Watching interviews his mom wasn't going to stop searching. I don't even want to think about how difficult it was to wait for answers for years. Cheryl didn't deserve to have to handle Mike's case alone. I hope she knows she did help Mike, it's because of her Mike was found
I still don’t think it’s fair that he got full immunity for Mike’s murder. He literally killed his best friend, someone he’s known for years who had a daughter at home waiting for him. He deserves to spend life in prison!
Are you serious? I didn't finish yet. Iwas hoping she wasnt involved! People are terrible, Ugh! Have everything and still not happy. Makes no sense at all.
Mike was a good guy, through and through. It's so sad he was taken out because he gave ultimate trust to worthless, garbage humans. It's a sad tale, but as old as time. God bless his mother.
His mom talking is killing me, I can’t stop crying. As a mother my heart just goes out to her. Lord give her strength to have some peace for the rest of her life, she deserves it.
You definitely can't trust anyone. The people closest to you even get 70 to 80% trust. Nobody gets 100%,not even yourself. Your own brain can deceive you,so if you can't 100% trust yourself, why would anyone else get close to that?
I hope both of them rot in jail. I applaud you Cheryl Williams. You are everything a mother should be. I am so sorry for your loss and I earnestly hope, you can find some peace.
Mike’s mother… wow. Her pleading to the judge was powerful. Just listening to her, as a mother myself, I could feel her grief. May one day before she goes to meet her son in Heaven, Ainsley will see truth and try to establish a relationship with her grandmother.
Mike’s mother impact statement is heartbreaking 💔 She never gave up on her son! For all the people to laugh at her and tell her she’s crazy is so sad. I’m glad she never gave up and fought for her son! That fact that Denise gif life in prison and somehow got it overturned to only get 30 year’s makes me sick. Brain and Denise should never to let out again!!
i just wanted to reach through my screen and give that poor woman the biggest hug. I was choking up when she described Mike hanging onto that stump in the dark, knowing what his very best friend was trying to do to him.
His mom’s impact statement was absolutely heartbreaking. I am so sad for her loss, of her son of course, but as she said she lost the relationship with her grand daughter, probably forever. So sad.
I don’t often cry while watching a case. I will tear up but not cry. When I say I full on ugly cried listening to her impact statement, it an understatement! I can’t imagine the pain she’s endured but stayed so strong. God bless her ❤️🙏
I have watched so many creators cover this and i am still enthralled every time. There should be a movie. It's so wild and beyond normal and just unbelievable it came to light
Just bought the Safety kit for my daughter. She just got accepted to college and I thought this would be perfect for her. This will help my anxiety ridden mind. THANK YOU!
I have heard so many different channels cover this story but I’ve never seen the clips of Mike and Denise at the hospital after having their baby… him talking about how much respect he has for what his wife/women go through was so sweet. He seemed like such an amazing person and father. Definitely the ultimate betrayal from his wife and “best friend”.
Like so many others have committed about this case. I have seen this case before on Dateline. Cheryl's love as a mother has given her so much strength and wisdom to keep fighting for the truth about what happened to her son. It's too bad that she kept away from her granddaughter. Thank you, Annie, and team for all your hard work on this case.
Poor Ansley, she loves her mother and can't even imagine her being a murderer. And still thinks her grandmother is crazy even though her grandmother is proven to be correct. Reconsider dear Ansley your grandmother's heart is broken.
I’m a big believer in gut feelings. I was recently Christmas shopping in London with my two granddaughters. (11 and 7). I got an uncomfortable feeling, looked around and saw a man staring at the younger girl. He was sitting outside a cafe. He must have realised I was looking at him. His eyes held mine, but they looked cold. I hurried the two girls to the tube station and got the hell out of there. No, he did nothing, but I’ve never felt so uncomfortable.
Oh girl!!! I had that happen with my daughter. She was about 7 and we were in line at a McDonalds. I actually stood between her and the man who had been looking at her. He didn't say a word but to this day, I KNOW he was unsafe. We hauled out of there and ate in the car!!
The power of a Mother’s spidey-sense is truly wonderous. I am so glad your children are safe and protected. Thank you for sharing your stories. I am so sorry that you and your children had to go through this.
what a mother ! God bless sherryl not only is she soo cute but she's a bad ass ! the true defenition of a mother she did EVERYTHING she could possibly do for her son's justice
I can't believe he wasn't charged with murder after admitting to killing him, and l do believe Denise is guilty of conspiracy.l cried along with the mother as she told how she was treated like she was crazy, because she knew her son was murdered, Justice wasn't served!!
This is a very old story.. I have watched it many times. So, much about this story is upsetting..Listening to Mike's Mom giver, her victim impacts statement was one of the hardest and most difficult things I have ever listened too. God bless that woman for never giving up on her love of her son and for never letting her tenacity and gut instinct. "LAUGHED" away. May every person that laughed t her and treated her like she was "crazy" may they regret that every day of their lives 😢
This is one of the most annoying and insane cases I have ever heard of and has been bothering me for quite long. How the monster wife and friend could be able to get away with this murder for so long and living a happy life with the bonus money from the murder. So heartbreaking!
My main concern is how to survive all of these financial and political crisis, especially in light of the US political power scuffle. The government has really called things more difficult for its citizens, and we can't sit back and bear all the consequences of the bad governance.
Yes true, I have been in touch with a brokerage advisor. With an initial starting reserve of $75k, my advisor chooses the entry and exit commands for my portfolio, which has grown to approximately $550k

The shortage of good men in this world. And these woman have the damn audacity to kill them. Wtf. Poor Mike. He was such a sweet, precious soul. And a wonderful man. I will never understand how people decide to end the lives of such genuine people. Hope for humanity is so low.
Of all these stories I've heard I don't any have made me cry, until Cheryl's statement. As a mother I cannot imagine her pain plus losing her granddaughter. Such a sad story that took so long to be solved
I have heard a lot of Victim Impact Statements and this one brought me to tears! It went through my heart like a knife! This mother deserved so much more help and what Denise did to her son was horrible enough, she basically did the same to her granddaughter as well! What a strong, courageous and determined woman! I pray for Cheryl, if she hasn't already, to be reunited with her granddaughter and healing for all. Imo, plea deals for murderers should never be allowed! Never! And a person who plots to murder is just as guilty as doing it themselves! Both should be sentenced the same! R.I.P. Mike
Waders don’t fill up instantly as long as you have your wading belt on. It’s meant to be worn tightly, high up in the waist, in order to stop water from filling the waders all the way up. So you have a little time if you fall in. It’ll fill up above the belt, then drip down slowly into the leg area.
I thought so. And Mike would've had a kill switch on the motor I think. Miss Cheryl knew better. Why DMR didn't notice these 2 inconsistencies is rather worrisome, isn't it?
My heart breaks for this mother. She makes me want to be a better person. What indomitable courage and faith. I am so sorry she now has to carry the knowledge of her son’s last moments. I hope she can somehow find peace.
That impact statement was epic. Tears of sadness for the torture her and her family endured. I pray Ansley will see the truth one day. What a crazy case. I am so grateful that a mother’s instinct kept the case going and the truth to come out. This one was a rollercoaster ride of a case. ❤
Annie , I’m a longtime subscriber. I follow true crime and have seen coverage on Mike’s case several times but am always interested in your perspective. You did an excellent job. You had more details , especially about Mike himself. My sympathy to his loved ones, especially his mother. What a strong human being! I know a lot of people acted like she was ,” a hysterical woman who couldn’t accept her son’s passing .” Yet she never cared about any of that… she kept going. I only have one child… a now 22 year old young man. I can understand exactly how she must have felt. I hope I never have to experience this situation but I also hope if I do , I can have the same strength. Rest in peace Mike.
I could never assume my husband is dead without evidence, especially after such a small amount of time. He might’ve been kidnapped or had amnesia and walked off, a number of reasons that might be the case.
wow! the mom's victim impact statement just blew my mind. she's psychic through and through. another great episode from AE. an older story with a newer and better take.
My prayers are with the mother. Her victim impact story was heartbreaking. She’s a fighter she fight for the truth. They’re both guilty of murder and they got a slap on the hand. I’m so sorry to the mother. She lost so much.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Right? It's crazy bc snitching used to be SO BAD.. Eap where Im originally from, people knew not to snitch. Now it's a regular thing and people are paid to do it regularly. Huge difference from early 2000s.
Annie it was so innovative and smart of you to think to make this product line to protect women, and men in compromising situations. It just goes to show that your content is meant for awareness and to also give a voice to the voiceless. I am so happy to be subscribed to your amazing channel for about 3 years now. You're an amazing person an awesome mom and a great content creator. I hope you and your wonderful family have a very very Merry Christmas and Holiday season. From one of your biggest supporters Alyssa. 😊 And to be quite honest I literally want to get one of these just to give some of the contents to my son when he goes outside to play. I recently have a walkie-talkie that I have and he has the other one and that's how we communicate. And I'm making more a whistle around his neck in case of an emergency. It's just so sad that these are the measures we have to take these days to keep our kids safe. But I think it would be very helpful for him to have like the alarm and a few other items in there when he goes outside to play. He just turned 10 last Saturday it's a scary world out there and I greatly appreciate you thinking outside of the box when it comes to being safe and aware of your surroundings when creating this line of merch. So thank you again very much❤❤❤
I love your safety kits! Last year, for Christmas,I gave all of my daughters&daughters in-laws kits I put together myself. I bought pouches a lot like your kit uses&put in each one: seat belt cutter, glass breaker, personal alarm, small LED flashlight&added pepper spray&a taser(the taser really upped the cost!!). The girls were all thrilled, but the thing that was really heartwarming was having each of my sons thank me for thinking of their wives. As a mother, the things they said to me were my favorite Christmas present!! I'm so happy that you made these kits available&that the response was so great!!❤❤
Annie…girl…you are becoming a better and better storyteller everyday!!! I love the passion and care you put into telling all of your stories. As a mom of three, this struck me in the gut as well. As a mom to a boy…especially. All of our children are extensions of ourselves. I believe as parents we do have some innate ability to connect with them on a different, almost visceral level. But my boy…my only boy…I know him like the back of my hand. I know the feeling this mom was feeling when God spoke to her. You wouldn’t be able to ever change my mind. I’m sending her so many hugs and so much love. I hope one day her grand daughter will hear what she has to say.
I was literally thinking the same thinggggg. Shows so much guilt.. trying to fly info out there to appear like you know what you’re talking about, & so they can’t question anything you’re saying.
I will never understand murder over divorce, having a child lose a parent forever versus coparenting. That poor young girl and Mike's mom and the time lost between them! 😭 Thank you for including the mom's statement - heartbreaking but powerful. Hopefully, after this case was over, she was able to start to properly grieve and go back to happier times and memories in her mind with her long, hard fight for justice fir her son behind her. Wishing peace to Mike's family.
Denise came off as a self-center person from the beginning, Mike was too good for her. I am glad that his mother got answers at the end but its sad that Cheryl lost her granddaughter in the process. What a powerful impact statement, I hope Denise and Mike's so called best friend both suffer for the rest of their life.
So sad .. and the heart kick is the grandmother can’t even have a relationship with her granddaughter..!! You would think after it came out that the best friend/ step dad did in fact kill her dad and the grandmother was right the granddaughter would feel differently towards her and the family.. 💔🥺🤍🙏🏼💸💸 thank god they are both charged ..!!
I heard of this murder years ago, i have listened to many of them on podcast. I really felt the impact when i heard Mike's mother speak at the sentencing. May peace be with her.

Murder and divorce are both wrong. People don’t want to put in the work to solve problems in their marriage and see divorce as an easy way out.
she didn't want to divorce because she wouldn't have had the life insurance money
His mom is amazing. She knew her son wouldn't have just not come home. Watching interviews his mom wasn't going to stop searching. I don't even want to think about how difficult it was to wait for answers for years. Cheryl didn't deserve to have to handle Mike's case alone. I hope she knows she did help Mike, it's because of her Mike was found
Thank God for his Mom.
I agree! He ended up not paying for his heinous crime
When there's a case that old and only 1 way to solve it had she talked first she'd have got immunity
Knowing he was a good father, how could she do that to her daughter as well. Taking her father away from her for no dam reason. 😢
Should be considered emotional child abuse
Mike was a good guy, through and through. It's so sad he was taken out because he gave ultimate trust to worthless, garbage humans. It's a sad tale, but as old as time. God bless his mother.
Have heard that the daughter is in complete denial about her mother’s involvement in her father’s death.
His mom talking is killing me, I can’t stop crying. As a mother my heart just goes out to her. Lord give her strength to have some peace for the rest of her life, she deserves it.
She’s guilty!! And I think it’s so sad the granddaughter still won’t have anything to do with her grandma. Truly sad!
Kid must have taken after her mother.
@@lynnewright31she may believe her mother is innocent being that’s the only parent she has left.
Yeah no kidding. So sad.
I remember hearing this story long ago. His poor mother got justice for her son with her undying faith in God. 🙏❤️
This one makes you wonder if theres anyone you can trust.
Amen
You definitely can't trust anyone. The people closest to you even get 70 to 80% trust. Nobody gets 100%,not even yourself. Your own brain can deceive you,so if you can't 100% trust yourself, why would anyone else get close to that?
I hope both of them rot in jail. I applaud you Cheryl Williams. You are everything a mother should be. I am so sorry for your loss and I earnestly hope, you can find some peace.
Is she online or anything? Or is she wanting to lay low? I would like to send her support if she has a social media page... If not then no
Mike’s mother… wow. Her pleading to the judge was powerful. Just listening to her, as a mother myself, I could feel her grief. May one day before she goes to meet her son in Heaven, Ainsley will see truth and try to establish a relationship with her grandmother.
Ainsley seems as shallow as her mom who raised her.
The heart is BREAKING for that mother. I'm glad she lived to see some form of justice. It's heartbreaking to the core listening to her statement!
Brain and Denise should never to let out again!!
yeah
Broke my heart for her.
Yup made me cry - that poor woman
i just wanted to reach through my screen and give that poor woman the biggest hug. I was choking up when she described Mike hanging onto that stump in the dark, knowing what his very best friend was trying to do to him.
Her speech is so heartbreaking
God bless Mike’s mother. She’s the mother we all strive to be when we feel our children need us
OH MY GOD, THAT MOTHER'S STATEMENT BROKE ME DOWN!!!
Man that mother’s speech absolutely broke my heart.
That mother’s testimony absolutely crushed me 😢
One of the saddest stories I’ve ever heard. I don’t think I’ll ever forget this one 😞
His mother's impact statement was the most heartbreaking one i've ever heard in my entire life
Just bought the Safety kit for my daughter. She just got accepted to college and I thought this would be perfect for her. This will help my anxiety ridden mind. THANK YOU!
Awesome gift Mama! I bet she'll love it
@carolyndawn2160 thank youuuuuu!
One day she will see & understand the truth.. god love her, once she does realize it's going to be very hard.
I rarely cry when watching true crime.
Between the 'best friends' testimony and Mike's mother... 😭
@ the feeling made my blood run cold. I’m glad you felt the same and got your daughter out to safety.
@annecunningham1151 Same to you!
The power of a Mother’s spidey-sense is truly wonderous. I am so glad your children are safe and protected. Thank you for sharing your stories. I am so sorry that you and your children had to go through this.
😢
It was so heart breaking to hear Mike's mother speak. I'm glad everything finally came to light and Mike was brought home.
His mother's victim impact statement was so heartbreaking 😢😊
I am glad you are covering this story. I remember when this case happened. God bless his mother for continuing to fight for her son.
what a mother !
That was just about the hardest impact statement I've ever heard 😢. That mother's ❤

The shortage of good men in this world. And these woman have the damn audacity to kill them. Wtf. Poor Mike. He was such a sweet, precious soul. And a wonderful man. I will never understand how people decide to end the lives of such genuine people. Hope for humanity is so low.
This is one of the saddest cases of all. You did a great job with telling the story.
Of all these stories I've heard I don't any have made me cry, until Cheryl's statement. As a mother I cannot imagine her pain plus losing her granddaughter. Such a sad story that took so long to be solved
Mike’s Mom had me in tears. The power of a mother. She always knew. ❤ She’s an angel!
The love and strong faith of this mother propelled & never wavered fighting for Justice for her son . What a hero what strength and tenacity !!?
Mike’s Mom is an absolute Hero! ❤
My heart broke for this mother, may she find solace in knowing justice is served.
His mom's impact statement is one of the most moving and emotional I've ever heard and i hope she's got a relationship with her granddaughter now
I know this story but I have never heard it in this much detail. Thanks for giving something interesting to listen to while I get ready for work.
Exactly why her actions were huge red flags
I love it when we sit down like this and chat about a case, as friends.
Wow, that interview! She just blabs on... what a dream for detectives.
wow! the mom's victim impact statement just blew my mind. she's psychic through and through. another great episode from AE. an older story with a newer and better take.
My prayers are with the mother. Her victim impact story was heartbreaking. She’s a fighter she fight for the truth. They’re both guilty of murder and they got a slap on the hand. I’m so sorry to the mother. She lost so much.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I’m so glad you’re covering this case! Thank you Annie!❤
Denise is an entitled princess and she did the unthinkable to her husband all for his insurance money!!
They don't make em much worse than Brian. Not only cheating on his wife, taking out his "best friend" but also a RAT.
Right? It's crazy bc snitching used to be SO BAD.. Eap where Im originally from, people knew not to snitch. Now it's a regular thing and people are paid to do it regularly. Huge difference from early 2000s.
Thanks Annie 💜 that's the perfect description a mums love has no bounds 💫💜🌷 xxx
❤ mom 💪💝🙏
I hope this mom, grandmother gets to know her Grandaughter, the crown to her life on this earth, with what time they both have left.
So thank you again very much❤❤❤
yeah
Like you, Annie, I could never understand how murder is more attractive than divorce.
I'm so happy that you made these kits available&that the response was so great!!❤❤
His mother is a true hero and she brought me to tears. Her pain is so obvious.
I have never heard his mom's statement, incredible woman. I hope all those people who mocked her at least apologize.
I have an aunt who is named Denise Williams my heart dropped when I first heard this... thank goodness Mr aunt is still around
My goodness!! This woman did not breathe through that interrogation 😱 jezzzzz
I was literally thinking the same thinggggg. Shows so much guilt.. trying to fly info out there to appear like you know what you’re talking about, & so they can’t question anything you’re saying.
I had to skip it, it was like nails on a chalkboard.
@@daisyrae1543She’s absolutely VILE
I will never understand murder over divorce, having a child lose a parent forever versus coparenting.
That poor young girl and Mike's mom and the time lost between them! 😭
Thank you for including the mom's statement - heartbreaking but powerful.
Amazing mother...
Absolutely brought me to tears her resolve for her son...and image she'll forever have burned into her mind.
So sad .. and the heart kick is the grandmother can’t even have a relationship with her granddaughter..!! You would think after it came out that the best friend/ step dad did in fact kill her dad and the grandmother was right the granddaughter would feel differently towards her and the family.. 💔🥺🤍🙏🏼💸💸 thank god they are both charged ..!!
I have these story many times but the way you tell it and explain it. It’s impressive your are talented
This is one of the craziest cases that I’ve heard. I have been waiting to see you cover it
I heard of this murder years ago, i have listened to many of them on podcast. I really felt the impact when i heard Mike's mother speak at the sentencing. May peace be with her.
I love the way you been jumping right in to it instead of a long ass intro with too much fluff before the story starts
Girl I agree with you entirely. Also, the storytelling is captivating. BRAVO
