Yeah he's an interesting character, I know some of his early stories are collected in the Marvel Horror Omnibus which I've reviewed in the past, not sure if I'll get the Masterworks collection honestly just because of having plenty of other books on my radar already!
Nice overview! I'm planning to buy this with vol. 2, now that both are out. Did some Dr. Strange omnibus related searches the other day as a result of which this video popped up on my TH-cam feed making we aware of this channel. Glad it did! I've subscribed to your channel.
It's confusing when they use different covers. This was the DM cover for the first printing, they used a different Ditko image (a pinup I think) for the second printing
I can't prove it but I believe Dr. Strange was influenced by Jack Parsons. The Greenwhich Village aspect is also referencing the Bohemian occultists of the 30's & 40's.
Appreciate the deep dive on this collection. I’m not the biggest silver age fan but I think I’ll get the new printing.
It's definitely some of the best material from the silver age
this is ditko best stuff
Thanks, I was on the fence on whether to buy or not. Your review convinced me to buy. Cheers
I'm glad it helped, hope you enjoy the book when you get it!
Looks great and very trippy. I'm gonna get the reprint !
Definitely very psychedelic and trippy! Such a cool book, hope you enjoy it!
@@TheComicBookTrove Did you prefer the first omnibus with Steve Ditko or the second omnibus with Gene Colan ?
I'd have to say this first volume with Ditko's run, I love the unique look he gave this series
Are you into Brother Voodoo ? I would love a review of the Masterworks from you.

Is this the first or second printing ? I can't follow with all these covers.

That's an interesting take, and not an interpretation I've come across before, I'll look into it further!
