As a young kid along with my brother and sister in the early 90s, my parents bought a 1990 Ford Aerostar used in late summer of 1993 from a leasing company. It was a cream color with brown cloth interior was a base 2wd XL short body with the V6. Was happy at the time because we finally had room and could sit anywhere we wanted sprawled out lol. Loving Ninja Turtles at the time me and my friend who used to carpool with us to catholic school nicknamed our van the Turtle Van. Miss the 90s as a kid we're some of the best memories and times to be a kid. All the times going to Geauga Lake, Sea World, the IX Center, the Malls, shopping on weekends with that Aerostar good times. I even got my first big bike the following year my Grandma bought me for my birthday brought home from Toys R Us in that van too. To me the Ford Aerostar has a special place in my heart. (RIP Aerostar 1985-1997) great van wish Ford made something like it today and yes it was more of a truck which for guys having a family now wouldn't be something you'd be ashamed to be seen in hahaha
Had one just like that, a 90 or 91 in red extended. Coolest van ever and got upset they traded it in for a 94 Taurus GL. I was too young to understand my parents' financial situation and little did i know the Taurus was one of the best cars we had for 13 years.
I love Aerostar vans... More room inside for passengers, cargo, furniture, bicycles, an ATV, a Lawnmower, or what ever... And you can actually tow a boat or a motorcycle trailer with them because they are rear wheel drive. Why buy a stupid problem prone Chrysler van when you can own a do it all vehicle like an Aerostar? One of the best vehicles Ford ever built.
I remember riding in a Ford Aerostar school van which Millis Public Schools had back around 2003-07 and it was a 1996 XLT model which was purple with tan interior and was pretty much a top of the line school van.
Great towing vehicle. The minivans today can not even match the towing power of an Aero. This Aero must be in the warmer climate (down South). I say this because there is no visual display of rot or rust along the rocker panels. A typical issue with Aerostars.
My co worker back in the day had one of these,same colour & all.One night he was driving on a country highway & didn’t see a dead deer in the road & ran over it. Vehicle never ran the same after that encounter,rear differential was acting up.
Toyota Sienna is the best Minivan built.....FOR TODAY....The best built minivan ever, is the Ford Aerostar. Bullet proof die hard. They are getting harder to find, but worth the search. You can usually pick them up cheap, and they make a great camper that's easy to convert.
The rare Eddie Bauer version of the Aerostar is the most luxurious, best finished and prettiest minivan ever made even in 2020. I miss it so much. Only manufactured from 1988 to 1994 in this version.
Are parts still available for the Aerostar? I found a '91 that is really clean with low miles. Just concerned that no parts will be available, and who would work on it.
Yes, but it's a nuisance to do so...I've done it by myself with my Aerostars over the years (I'm on my 5th one now) and it's not fun, especially when the middle has captains chairs instead of the 3/4 bench seat...NONE of them are easy to take out, at least they've never been for me.
