    This plugin is absolutely amazing. Closest thing to an 808 you can get

      Agree. I used to own an original years ago. This is definitely one of the best and good enough if you can’t get an original one.

    I have the plugin over a year but decided today is the day I'm either gonna read the manual or what a video about it. It became the latter and it was a wise choice. Thank you for the video, nu-trix the synth guy (and off-course Roland)

    Great video! I was waiting for you to use your TR-8S to control the plugin, too. I was surprised when my TR-8 is already mapped to most of the plugin's features.

    It takes 23 minutes and 47 seconds to get there, but at 23:47 he shows how to drag the pattern into your DAW's step sequencer as editable notes. It's an egregiously unintuitive design -- you click and drag the green lettered buttons.

    I would love to have each drum as a seprate AU/VST Instrument. So in Ableton I could make a drum rack and load the BD on one pad, the SD to another pad and so forth. So I can use lives powerfull drum sequencer and effects more intuitive. I don’t like to route the outputs

    • @powerdove
      @powerdove 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You can do this in ableton by creating an drum rack and routing the MIDI from the rack into the 808 plugin. In order to prevent routing the outputs in the future, you could create an instrument rack/template so that you can drag it all into ableton every time without setting it all up again.

    So how do we access the Control Change Function on the TR 808 plug-in? I want to change the pitch of the Bass Drum, which I believe is CC# 20 (page 8 in the TR 808 manual). Is this possible in a DAW, or do I need something like the TR-8S to actually do this.

    I need a little help here. My tr808 seems to be stuck on pattern “A”. I shift click to enable “B” but it still just loops the “A” pattern. When I shift click “B” looks like it turns on green but it still just loops the first pattern. Any suggestions?

      Mine is doing the same exact thing. I've been looking around for hours and haven't found a solution. It's discouraging that it's been a year and Roland still haven't even acknowledged your question.

  • @jedgould5531
    @jedgould5531 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So it can replicate the 808 sound, or it can’t? First you said it cannot, then you said it’s actually better. Confusing.

    I dont get it, how do I use this throughout a whole song?

    • @RolandCloud
      @RolandCloud  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi. Just like any plugin instrument you can create MIDI patterns to send to the TR-808.
      First, turn off "Position Lock to DAW" in the Roland TR-808's graphical user interface, you can do the following: Click Option. Uncheck Position Lock to DAW from the drop-down menu.
      Disabling "Position Lock to DAW" allows the TR-808's pattern to play from a MIDI region in the DAW's track. This is necessary if you want to record MIDI separately on each of the TR-808's drum tracks. When "Position Lock to DAW" is enabled, the MIDI notes play from the TR-808's drum sequencer and sync with the DAW's playback.

    It is so frustrating not to be able to program this 808 by playing the Instrument keys or via a MIDI keyboard direct into the plug in. You could do the former with the original. It is no fun programming a pattern in a pattern sequencer window like this. It's the same with the Roland Cloud 909. Such a disappointment.

    • @youknowwhoiam6484
      @youknowwhoiam6484 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can. Most drums start at C0 or C1

    • @lxworld
      @lxworld ปีที่แล้ว

      @@youknowwhoiam6484 ? Yes but you can't record the notes into the 808's sequencer via MIDI. Only into the DAW.

    Is compatible with FL ?

    • @RolandCloud

      yes

    • @davidbrent2069
      @davidbrent2069 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, not really. I'm trying it out in FL right now and it's very clunky and frustrating to get anything done. There are several points in this "tutorial" where the plugin behaves VERY differently than what is shown on video.
