7:00 - one of the reasons so many Californians have moved to Texas.....Sad to see so many miles of businesses and life's on Route 66 changed for the worse after the Interstate was put in. Kinda reminds me of my home town in Texas. Not much of any business there now that I can think of. Just a place to rest your head. All the grocery stores and restaurants are way up on the Freeway. Anyway - loving the Route 66 stuff, and really enjoy Hoyt Axton related material, as well as Elvis. Thanx for the vid. Take care, my friends.

Thanks for sharing! Brought back wonder memories of traveling through and stopping at Needles as a child many times on our way to the ocean. I remember one year in the 70's is was so hot there that we asked for water at a restaurant and my Dad had to pay for water for the first time. He said give me a tea, because I am not paying for no water! We got gas in Needles every time traveling through. It gets HOT in the summer.

My mother in laws name was Arlene. God rest. Her soul. She was a sweet lady. Loved my mother in law. She passed at 96 in 2020. During the plandemic. Lol

When I was a teenager my dad had a ski boat and we went to needles to go to the Colorado river. The river goes through the town of needles. Needles is one of the hottest cities in Calif in the summer. You guys drove through Needles and didn’t even stop and look at the Beautiful Colorado River?

I'm old enough to remember those wall-hanging pay phones. I think you had to put coins in before you'd get a dial tone. Thanks for the trip out to Needles. 🙂 You got your Kicks on Route 66!

That thing was giant and original so yes it was that large..
@@gracieg7601 The 20 mule team actually pulled 2 of those wagons and a smaller water tank wagon. It took a lot of water for the mules as they crossed "Death Valley". A two man crew drove the wagons. You can see one traveling across the desert at the beginning of the 1950s tv show "Death Valley Days". You can buy a box of "20 Mule Team Borax" still today in most grocery stores 😀. Borax was valued for it's whitening and cleaning properties.
