I’m that little black kid holding the fishes. I always like to come back to this video every couple of years and reminisce. My mom and I were treated so nice while on set. Otherwise im not too familiar. But, Sorry to hear of the loss of Mark, and much respect to their fans.
It's been a tragic few years. We lost Lanegan in 2022 and Van Conner just a month ago. I'm glad you have such a fond connection to what basically amoumts to rock history.
RIP the two members of Screaming Trees Mark Lanegan (November 25, 1964 - February 22, 2022), aged 57 Van Conner (March 17, 1967 - January 17, 2023), aged 55 You both will be remembered as legends.
I consider it lucky that they are not better known....I personally would be horrified to see someone like Miley Cyrus tweeting some crap like "Shout out to screaming trees....yeah....yolo!" and then it being retweeted by Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber. I always consider Screaming Trees and Lanegan's solo stuff, to be like the greatest secret restaurant in the world, with the best chefs and the best food, that nobody knows about and you always get a table....and no idiots are let past the door :)
This song has always had a tangible sense of loss and sadness to me, and now that both Mark and Van are gone it hits even harder. The music of the Screaming Trees has changed my life immeasurably.
Same. Loved the song for years, but now Mark and Van are gone the song has even more of a resonating haunting quality. It also hits home HOW F***ING AWESOME they were, and how much we've lost. All that's gone before - it's changed.
Everyone always says this exact same thing. They don’t seem to understand that popularity of numbers is not a metric that measures how special something is. If anything, the more people are into something, the less special it is. Just like what you like, and that’s all you need to be concerned about.
Winter's setting in again And it feels Like the end is near Sensless sense and i'm alone Watchin' the seconds Passin' by Come January i swear this world Won't be the one That we once lived on Took an oath For a promise sworn and broken All that's gone Away When Monday morning you can't wake up Still dreamin' of What could've been Something good has gone and left you It's another tear One won't deny Come January i swear this world Won't be the one That we once lived on Took an oath Another promise sworn and broken All that's gone All that's gone before you've changed Well Monday morning you don't wake up Still dreamin' of What could've been Something good has gone and left you It's another tear One more denial Come January i swear this world Won't be the one That we once lived on Took an oath Another promise sworn and broken All that's gone All that's gone before All that's gone before Has changed
Curious question...is Mark Lanegan the one who 'wrote the lyrics'?? I just love them...whether he did or not. Just wondered tho. He was (is) such an interesting person 🌼
Probably my favorite Screaming Trees song for twenty years, and until just now when I undertook to share it with friends in the wake of Mark Lanegan's death, I didn't know it had its own music video. RIP Mark!
Come January... Monday morning... So many chances to make things better. To start over. What an amazing song. Maybe my favorite song of all time. Thank you Mark and Gary Lee and Van and Barrett. Maybe Monday morning I will wake up and try to be better. But another promise sworn and broken is more likely. Fuck! Thank you for making all our lives better with your music.
@@gamby16a You think the Doors were an influence during the Uncle Anesthesia era...you should check out the Screaming Trees' 1986 album Clairvoyance when the Trees were even more clearly neo-psychedelic. Check out the song "Standing on the Edge" in particular.
After all the loss of the greats from the last gasp of rock music in the early 90's, I used to say thank God we still have Mark Lanegan. I was crushed when he died. RIP Mark, you are terribly missed.
you ever have something in your life that just grabs you by the throat and never lets you go? that's the affect the screaming trees have on me. my humble opinion, the best band ever.
This is my favorite album, ever. I hit it hard for over a year, never got to the point I didn't excitedly wait for the next song, but then after about 2-300 spins, perhaps twice that, even, I decided to shelve it so that I would never feel tired of it. Now I get overwhelming nostalgia hearing these songs, thinking of that tumultuous year, all the changing seasons in the far north of Washington state. This song in particular just feels like a drizzling, raining weekday spent driving the rainswept rural highways of east Whatcom, cool torrent of backsplash off the asphalt and the foothills with clouds scattered on their ridges like a million years of cobwebs draped across them. Sniffle. Good, albeit slightly painful, memories.
2022 please stop taking my hero's. Rest In Peace: Mark Lanegan you will be missed by so many this was always one of my favorites by the screaming trees wish it got some radio play.
maybe my favorite ST song, the chorus is so sad. and the line "Monday morning couldn't wake up, still dreaming of what could have been." hits me hard looking back
I feel like I'm about 30 years late to the party. I grew up in the 90's, and I heard the band name Screaming Trees, and saw it on t-shirts, but didn't really listen to their music until recently. Definitely an underrated band.
RIP Mark L. Saw the Trees when they played in Boston 1996. Unreal. One of the best shows/voices ever. and now that voice is gone, Love the Trees. OK I'm hurt. God Bless Mark and the Trees
Just found them 20 minutes ago. Every single song - Dollar-Bill, All I Know, Bed of Roses, Shadow of the Season, Nice! Will definitely be listening/searching out, on my ♩♩ list!
Sadly they wont reunite. It seems mark feels like the trees was the worst of the music he did, which is crazy. Got to see them back in 92. they were amazing
Pitty, I was born in the 2000s so I didn’t get to experience bands like these. 2 singers of the big 5 were already dead and by the time I found grunge 2 more has passed and so I was hoping one day these would get back but apparently not
This song remind me and my father who passed away, he taught me to play guitar and mad at me when i do silly things , and time goes by,,love u dad,,see u at the other side
On Monday morning you can't wake up Still dreaming of what could've been Something good has gone and left you It's another tear One more denial There are some lyrics that read your soul and making you feel not alone in this cold world. R.i.p Mark Lanegan.
Best tree song and video...such passion in the song they did it for the music not for money....Lanegan writes the best lyrics in the Grunge scene hands down!

Done work with Mark over the career of my Av days and can’t say how grateful I for him he helped my young stupid confused ass see the error of my ways “heroin and pill addiction” he talked some reason and sense in to my in a way helping me get clean on my own and for that I am for ever thankful for just sad I never got the chance to thank him for helping a stupid young kid that was confused and angry at the world. RIP mark i love you and miss you brother.
Criminally overlooked band such great talents all round. I’m the same age as them but at the time where I was living and working there was only two types of music… Country and Western hell we where lucky to hear Soundgarden or Nirvana once a month 🤷🏻♂️
Loved this song and the album. Dust is probably my second favorite album, behind only Dirt from Alice in Chains. The songs, this one included, were beautifully written and layered. And who doesn't like Mark's vocals. Perfect fit.
Like with Look At You, the lyrics in this one are so simple, yet they articulate a profound understanding of some kind of personal inner turmoil/crisis. Very philosophical and poetic. There is a beauty in someone's intelligent understanding of experiences that we may all have a chance to face during our lifetime, especially when an artists sincerely reveals something of himself during this process.
For better or worse, Mark Lanegan is a man who decided to keep doing new things with his career. Personally I respect him a lot more than I respect those who had sworn they'd never reunite but then couldn't resist the temptation to cash in on their past success.
Good Lord this song is fantastic. I could loop the organ solo all day every day. The Trees are one of my fave bands ever, they're WAY better than most of their grunge contemporaries. Lanegan is such a powerful singer and Barrett Martin is one of the best drummers ever.
That's the great Benmont Tench of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers you're hearing. This album was one of the best rock record to come out of the '90s, I'd say only Jeff Buckley's Grace record even comes close to comparing.
I’m that little black kid holding the fishes. I always like to come back to this video every couple of years and reminisce. My mom and I were treated so nice while on set. Otherwise im not too familiar. But, Sorry to hear of the loss of Mark, and much respect to their fans.

How can such an amazing band be so overlooked this is some serious talent
Because it´s real grunge
I consider it lucky that they are not better known....I personally would be horrified to see someone like Miley Cyrus tweeting some crap like "Shout out to screaming trees....yeah....yolo!" and then it being retweeted by Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber.

we are a minor groupe who love thise powerful songs. ??
probably my favourite band out of all the seattle music that emerged in the 90s. I got to see Mark Lanegan live last year in Seattle. The guy rules
The greatest rock band in the 1990s no other band comes close! It's the greatest ones that never get any air play! True talent never sells out!
This song has always had a tangible sense of loss and sadness to me, and now that both Mark and Van are gone it hits even harder. The music of the Screaming Trees has changed my life immeasurably.

Why this band is so underrated? they're so amazing!
Yeah, they are the best! This song is so perfect...

Unos de los mejores discos de los 90s, injustamente olvidado. RIP Mark.
Concuerdo amigo, una joya de la epoca y RIP Mark

Difficult to fathom that I'm 68 in 5 days and never heard of this awesome band.. RIP

Benmont Tench, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
