One of the things I admire most about your channel is that you are not a rich family that buys a million dollar boat and then pays for fixes when things break. You bought a boat, and you upgrade / maintain it so well that it is better each day than when you bought it. While most of us landlocked folks buy a home, and do the same thing while watching videos of your very amazing, diverse, and always changing lifestyle. All that, and a normal, happy, adventurous family. You are LIVING THE DREAM in my very humble opinion.
Having met Teal and Linh while they had a stop-over at the Napa marina, they are great, down-to-earth people…the real deal. I watch them and support them (as meager as it may be) mainly because of that “real” connection. Cheers!
Linh, your food always looks so yummy. Another great video and love you show things that could happen to anyone and glad you didn’t fall for the shake down.
😀😀👍👍👍❤ Can't beat a really sharp gaff as sometimes you only have one "shot". Thanks to all three of you for another fun video. Take care from Seattle, WA.
Great looking Meals, and great catch!!!! Sorry for the scam, it takes all kinds.... Good job on scaring him away! Stay safe and thank you for bringing us along!.
It’s a extra treat to see that food every time in these videos I love to sit on that morning breakfast. But the rest is so well looking. I bet the most ridiculous richest don’t have such good looking food. .. ❤
Well that was fun ‼️ 🎉 🙌🏻 83° water. Sooooooo niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. No wonder Emma couldn't wait to jump in. My bride and I also would jump at that chance. 👍🏻🎉 See you next time. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
You guys be safe out there there are a lot of bad people in this world. Hope you have safeguards up for night time and when you leave the boat as well. God bless and stay safe
Too bad about the dingy. But nothing lasts forever. Although the way Teal takes care of things some might. Nice fish. Happy you didn't give in to the scammer. Enjoy your stay in Costa Rica, even though it will be expensive. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Interesting episode. Having spent 2 weeks exploring the ECO Tourist zone of Central Region and the East Coast of Costa Rica, we have many fond memories. We had heard "stories" about the West Coast and so decided to take a pass. New dinghy time? ... you can't cruise without that necessary bit of kit and Costa Rica seems like the wrong place for that type of purchase. Looking forward to see how you MacGyver that issue or, just bite the bullet. Watching Linh cook always makes me hungry. 🙂
Its like that all over the country. It is the unfortunate part of visiting Costa Rica. I found it to be the business doing the scamming, and the locals were good-hearted people. Had a blast in their beautiful country.
I hate it when you show your meal preps, I'm always starving by the end of the video, lol..! I've been watching from nearly the start and look forward to each of your uploads.
Just saw you post, Yes Costa Rica is amazing if it weren’t for all the shake downs. I spent two years at the US Embassy in San Jose and had to be very vigilante. Colombia is a lot better.
Linh's "Breakfast at Costa Rica" jazzy prepping tune- had me almost as hungry as Emma's food smile was. * Linh- I have that jazzy little tune somewhere in my collection. Soon as I heard it- I went hmmm that sounds familiar. * Teal catches a Big one. Linh did say- she wanted fish during breakfast, and you provided once again for your family Teal. R.I.P to the dingy. She served basix well during her time onboard. The replacement will be much needed. Scam- happens a lot these days. Reporting this to the cruising community- so future cruisers to Costa Rica are aware of it. Panama Canal- is not too far off now. The Caribbean is calling basix. I know this video is not- time current to your present location, You just might be at the Canal right now for all I know. Safe sailing crew of basix.
Very glad you were not harmed by the shakedown guys. Are you allowed to carry any arms? How about a cross bow? You need some protection available. Be careful. God Bless Bear 🐻🙏🇺🇸
Unfortunately, I was playing around with the pork recipe so I don't have a specific recipe ready just yet. I am making an effort to take more notes even if I don't know what I am doing as I work on these dishes so I can share them with you. I promise!
If your dinghy is that far gone, may be time to "fix" the tubes using inexpensive dunnage bags. Open up tube seam, insert and inflate dunnage bag, stitch up the tube. The inflated dunnage bags in the tubes, not the tubes, provide the flotation.
Teal you caught a nice and big fish, the next ones will no longer be a problem. do you know off the rolling thunder and mxie also have a youtube channel . thanks for answer
We are pretty careful when we are anchored out. Sensor lights in the cockpit. Making ourselves very visible and of course our secret and most terrifying weapon.....Compass! 😊🐕☠️💀
We thought so as well. It was a little disheartening and a little scary, but it ended up ok. Trust and an open heart is good, but don't mess with us. Lol
You don't happen to have a rego number of the jetski in your footage? If you do, give that to the port captain, if it's a hire jetski hopefully the hire company to id when they hired the jetski 🤞Long shot I know but worth a try.
Unfortunately we didn't. It was a shock to us and we weren't sure at first. Now we know to be more assertive and firm when they approach us on the water. We did talk to the marina manager a few days after when we picked up some fuel about the incident and he said next time to radio them on the VHF. They have their own security on the water to help prevent this from happening. It's a bad look for the area.
What a Great Mahi congrats!! Come on HIGHFIELD help out our Fam, they above all other TH-camrs deserve a Sponsorship for a new Dingy. CHEERS AND FAIR WINDS And Costa Rica STOP WITH THE RIDICULAS SCAMS This is not in your interest it will only prevent cruisers from coming and stop those tourist dollars from filtering down to you. Tip for cruisers, find a trusted local to help get food and fuel at local prices rather than the tourist prices. CHEERS Steve h
Sad mixed with hilarious: at about 7 minutes thirty seconds or so you announce the (sad) news that your beloved dingy was done, some more seams having opened up. "from here to Panama we will have to be creative," followed close on by a shot of some (uncooked) dough of some kind: as if you were going to stuff the dingy with dough to keep it afloat for just a few more trips to town!!
It depends on what you're getting. There are not many stores available and if they are there, they cater to tourist. One store we found in Central America that is pretty decent and you can buy in bulk similar to Costco/Sam's Club is PriceSmart, but there are not many of them closeby. A few items that gave me sticker shock was 32oz of Greek Yogurt was $25usd, a block of 8oz cream cheese was $10usd, a small bundle of Asparagus $22usd. Ouch.
@@OnboardLifestyle Wow. Can't imagine the locals paying those kinds of prices, but if they have no choice ... Guess you need a huge freezer and plan your itinerary around bigger locales. Or fish more!
Pancakes are easy and delicious. Better than vegimite.....just my opinion. Lol I actually prefer crepes or waffles if its a sweet, but the crew loves pancakes so I indulge them. Personally, I prefer a savory breakfast.
This comment is for Emma (because you're the youngest and can learn Spanish easier than your mother and father). I enjoy your videos but cringe every time I hear you guys try to say things in Spanish. Some things you pronounce okay and others I cringe. That said, here is a quick and easy Spanish lesson that will improve your pronunciation so the locals will understand you better.. Here goes: The vowels... A,E,I,O and U in Spanish are pronounced like this: A = ahh, E = eh (easy for Canadians), I = ee (as in "bee" with the "b"), O = oh (as in "Oh no" with the "no") and U = ooh (as in "boo" with the "b"). The following little song is how I learned it when I was 12 yo... Ahh - eh - ee - oh - ooh el burro sabe mas que tu. AHH, EH, EE, OH, OOH. So, when you see a word like "casa" you know it's pronounced Caah- Saah, or the word "Isla" you know it's pronounced "Eees-Laah". Hope this helps! Again, I enjoy your videos... I want to clone Linh... my girlfriend can't cook a thing! 🙂
seeing your dingy is on the way out maybe you can stuff the pontoons with pool noodles or or find a garage that has some innertubes and stuff it in there. but you probably already have your new dingy by now, curious to see if that would be some kind of temporary fix...............anyways ( ❛︠ ͜ʖ ︡❛)

Smart thinking Teal on the scanner who wanted money. You all are some awesome and great to watch your episodes.
Linh, your food always looks so yummy. Another great video and love you show things that could happen to anyone and glad you didn’t fall for the shake down.
Linh, you are a master chef and my mouth was watering at the meals you create. You set the bar very high... and you have a very small kitchen. WOW!
Aww thank you! I'm still learning everyday, but the beauty of it is we get to consume it! 😉😊😊🍽

You certainly don't go hungry on that boat. OMG what a breakfast. Stay safe. :-)
You got that right!
All of the food looked especially good in this one! Also, if you keep catching fish that big, you're going to need a bigger cutting board. 😀
Another great vid! Thank you. Nice fish Teal.
Ahh, Linh cooking again! Awesome!
You seriously need to create a "Linh cooking compilation ASMR" video.

Morning!
3:29 Great idea putting the silicone mate between the metal pan and the glass surface of the induction hot plate.
It's really nice, so the pan doesn't slip around when you're cooking underway and makes for an easy cleanup. 😊
That was an awesome adventure. Thanks for sharing 👏🏽👏🏽💪🏾💪🏾👍👍⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️🥃🍷☕️❤❤

Love the thumbnail, very creative!
If Costa Rica cares about its tourism industry, it should crack down on scammers like you encountered.
Its like that all over the country. It is the unfortunate part of visiting Costa Rica. I found it to be the business doing the scamming, and the locals were good-hearted people. Had a blast in their beautiful country.
LOL you mean Murica is better. Come on you can't be that naive.

I agree
Typical American: pivots immediately to arms as the solution.
Damn right
No, you definitely don't want to carry any weapons there.
You were targeted by the scammer because your boat looks so good. It's been made beautiful by sweat equity.

That was a great catch and it fed us and our friends for many days. As for our friends, they do not have youtube channels. 😊
That song when Lynn was cooking sounded like Limp Bizkit but Latin lol
Beware you are not boarded at night with those kind of people around . Too easy with sugar scoops
We are pretty careful when we are anchored out. Sensor lights in the cockpit. Making ourselves very visible and of course our secret and most terrifying weapon.....Compass! 😊🐕☠️💀
Pretty sure the scam artist was thinking he could probably get away with it with so many "rich" people turning up in the anchorage :-)!
There are several dinghies for sale in the San Jose Facebook marketplace for reasonable. $1000 or less USD. Hope that helps.
Good looking 👀 Food
Frigg’n scammers. That’s strange that he came straight to you guys.

A lady never tells.......😉
Zatara just added cameras everywhere. Two in each engine bay, etc
👍👍❤
Were those fish jumping out of the water just for fun or was it to stop being eaten by a bigger fish?
Usually they are either chasing smaller fish or being chased by bigger ones. Survival of the fastest in this case.
The scam part starts at 15:57.
Scammers are everywhere. Just be prepared and make videos. Say it’s life stream.
Then ask for papers and numbers to check
