I love my MOT station, no waiting for phone calls. I drive down whenever I feel like, they squeeze me in within 20 minutes and then I stay in the car and help with the test. It's brilliant.
I’ve never really trusted mot/garage all in one places- they look for work - for instance I have a car which for the last 5 years the mot has reported a slight distortion in an alloy wheel - despite the whole set of wheels have been changed 3 years back haha as have the bearing and disks throughout the year so I believe they look at the previous years defects/advisory’s
If they're H4 headlamp bulbs, and nothing's obviously wrong with the bulbs, lenses or reflectors, make sure the bulb is pushed in fully and seated correctly. My motor failed on that a few weeks back.
The mot changed, the leak have to be an overall 75mm in diameter within 5 mins of running. That’s only way it can fail for the leak. If it’s not then it’s an pass and advise. I am a mot tester in Norwich! 👍
Not a bad failure. The MOT manual has chanced recently, so hydraulic fluid leaking excessively can be from fluids such as the coolant, engine oil screen wash etc. Section 8.4.1 of the new manual covers this; the leak must be a 75mm pool within 5 minitues on the floor to be considered excessive and reason for rejection. So like you said likely to be that leaky sump gasket. Brake pipe, piece of cake, new copper pipe, and also new track rod end. As for the headlights, might be worth given them a good clean up on the lenses then checking the kick up against the garage door. If you fail to see the kick up then yes it could be worth sticking in new bulbs, but clean the lenses first . Good luck mate, look forward to the next video
Not at all, the kick up is like this in simple terms, if you drive your car up to a wall or garage door turn your headlights on you will see your beam patten as a straight line with a 45 or so degree line going up towards the nearside (passenger side) That line going up is the kick up. The purpose of the kick up is to direct a certain amount of light to the kerb side for visibility on pedestrian, cyclists etc. You might notice that when some British road users use there cars overseas to say France they stick little triangles on the front on there headlamps. This is to stop the kick up so not to make a RHD car blind a road user in LHD country’s. Really I could make a video on the subject of the MOT to explain things to people. Maybe one day I will, when I’m not doing it for a living lol
Corsa with 12 months mot. How much? Looking for a nice clean car for my son to pass his test in, this looks just the job. Great vids as always. Has DVLA sorted out the 1.8 Corsa yet?
Your headlights need adjusting there will be a couple of screws on the back of the lamp frame that can be screwed in or out to aim the lights so that they kick up on a beam tester in the correct position you need expensive equipment for that and a garage wont charge a lot so i would take it in for that
Great video mate. Does anyone know under the new MOT rules if u r car has a dangerous are u allowed to still drive it to carry out repairs? Or do u need to get it done at the garage there and then?
The failure is a bit of a bummer. You should appeal about the hydraulic leak. They obviously don't know an engine oil leak when they see one. That Corsa is definitely worth saving so stick with it.
I was talking to the guy who owns my local test centre about the new rules. I think basically any leaking fluid is seen as a major defect so I think in this case its just been mis identified.
Hello friend, I saw that your lighting of the dashboard is blue, you can tell me what kind of lamp has to buy ,? If you made a video, I can have the link 😌 please
You don't need to fix the oil leak for the MOT. Oil leak is not a fail. They thought the leak was from either a brake line or a clutch hydraulic line, it's not , so just clean it up and do the other jobs. The brake line, even working on the ground should not take you more than an hour. The ball joints you can buy on eBay for less than £10.00, again less than an hour. If you don't have a brake flaring tool ,again you can buy one for less than £20.00. A good tool to have when your working on older cars. Good luck Great videos as always.
Minor oil leak (a few splodges) = advisory - pass Serious oil leak (very damp in surrounding area = major - fail Continuous oil leak (dripping) = dangerous - fail + £2500 fine if caught driving. Absolutely ridiculous! Rules changed on May 20.
Just who did your MOT, It looks like they only advertise MOT's but take the car to somewhere else for the test that's why they keep it all day. If you go to a registered test centre you can book a time and wait while its done and then they can point out the faults, I'm not saying the Mot is hooky but some of the small garages get little out of the usual £35 they charge but hope to get the work.
Youd should really complain to DVLA about the test station if they've marked a dangerous fault when there isn't one. Don't seem very clued up over there!
Hello There. I have a corsa 1.0 l .I run out of gas and the idle now is rought with p0301obd code fault. Misfire cylindre 1 . I did an injector test. Spart plug test by swaping between each cylinder. Every things work fine except cylindre one. Any help please
thanjk you for your answer , i thinked about that , i put out the injectors rail and my friend try to start the car just to see if the injectors works and they did work
AA ZT they will but did you measure how much fuel cane out of each ? As 1 could be 50% less or 10% less I work at Vauxhall and Iv seen this happen a couple of times normally we test them by putting a plastic tube on each injector witch has how many ml it kicks out
@ Cal M Rear wiper motor went kaput on our focus years ago even though it is still fitted it is not a fail. Reminds me i should fix it ) Oh and although i`m not an MOT tester i did work in a garage with one and he taught me a lot.
I believe there's different levels of faults that can lead to a fail. It's only the more dangerous ones you can't drive the car with. My wheel bearing failed but I was allowed to take it away for repairs and returned it a week later fur 're test.
There's 3 categories or faults now; minor, major and dangerous. Minors are basically the old advisories and they will pass the MOT. Majors are faults that will fail the MOT but you CAN drive the car away to get it fixed. Dangerous faults are the ones you CANNOT legally drive away from the garage. Hope that helps, my local garage was not clear about this, pretty sure they tried to convince me it was illegal to drive away despite my car only having major defects that were easily fixable at home. Safe to say I will not be returning to them next year.
The retest fee should be abolished. Shouldn't have to pay more money because some dickhead failed your car on a sidelight bulb that blew on the way to the test. You get the impression it's just a money making racket at times.
@Kris Nicholson we do every day, never heard of a "friendly mot man" ? Hgv and lgv your more at risk by...I drive 17/18 plates daily and report the issues and it's ignored. Steering and breaks issues! Ignored. And I don't work for a small company.
Not true. You'll get a partial re-test for free or a reduced fee test. Depends on the garage. The council mot centres will offer a free re-test within 7 days.
www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/retests if you diy it's worth booking mot on friday, if it fails on an item that qualifies for a free next working day retest you have the whole weekend to rectify the fault.
Tiny bugbear that you spoiled the result in the video title. It just made your little intro about hoping it passes kinda weird to hear but i don't know. Love your vids bud anyway.
People come in all shapes and sizes. My head isn't perfectly symmetrical and I'm sure yours isn't either. Bit of a silly immature comment. Live by simple rules. I.e if you ain't got anything nice to say, then don't say anything

you should change your mot station, they can distinguish between oil and brake fluid !
MOT stations hate Jaguar Xs as well, they will fail them on a rusty wiper arm LOL
sorry to hear it failed, however that's great for your channel!! and for me that I've got more to see!!;)
I love my MOT station, no waiting for phone calls. I drive down whenever I feel like, they squeeze me in within 20 minutes and then I stay in the car and help with the test. It's brilliant.

No mate, South Wales

In my opinion its definitely worth saving. Most of the things are cheap to replace, the leak sounds more of a pain in the arse to fix than anything
I would say as fails go it's not a bad one. Looking forward to seeing it fixed up.
You need more than 25k subscribers your content is enjoyable and informative
Never paid for retest? Most give you like 14 working days to complete repairs. Then full new test if you exceed that
Don't ever stop the grind👊

might be the rear main seal instead of the sump gasket
Corsa with 12 months mot. How much? Looking for a nice clean car for my son to pass his test in, this looks just the job.

At 2:30 I noticed your speedometer not working.

Speedo not working mate?
I thought that but then it moved a bit. That would be a fail
Would be interesting in what they would do or say if you asked then for a quote to fix the hydraulic leak.
Here in Queensland Australia the only time you need an mot is when you go to sell the car
Great video mate. Does anyone know under the new MOT rules if u r car has a dangerous are u allowed to still drive it to carry out repairs? Or do u need to get it done at the garage there and then?
Bugger, it failed, but it could have been a lot worse, some more videos on this one, more videos to watch I cant wait, its worth saving I reckon.

I guess it’s time. For that mot. Station to go through a wet course. Again. 🎯
Hello friend, I saw that your lighting of the dashboard is blue, you can tell me what kind of lamp has to buy ,?

they probably did the mot by lunchtime but didn't call you until close of business?????
Did you do a video where you change the colour of your clocks
omg cup holders on corsa o.O
can you do a video how to install them and where to find them
Is the oil coming from the oil filter housing, where it mates with the engine block?(what is the mileage on the car?)
I think it's the rear main oil seal it is so common
Keep this Corsa and sell the Focus! I think that's the best solution!
He gave the focus to his mrs
Graft er I know, but (I've heard, if I'm not wrong) He mentioned that after the MOT he wants to sell the Corsa..
I always say that a car is saveable if it isn’t a rustbucket
Sounds like its worth fixing! Cool cool!
I have one astra g z16xe but it burg very much oil and from exhaust have white smoke what to changer brother
How much were the black sxi rims I have a 1.2 one myself and I’m looking to do exactly what you did, if you have any tips that would be great
how did you drive it home with a dangerous defect. bit naughty that
p Feeley providing you can prove your driving it home from the test station or back to the test station, you’re ok.
even if the test report says do not drive ?
p Feeley yea however you’re good if you’re driving to/from the test station
with a dangerous fault do not drive means do not drive. to from test centre is irrelevant.
Hydraulic Fluid is a very brief term for oil.
Try fix the camber of those front wheels as well
Once again conclusive proof that most mot garages are quacks
The kick up fail is a weird one eh
Why dont you keep it as a daily driver as its a for door car
You don't need to fix the oil leak for the MOT. Oil leak is not a fail.

How did you change your dials to blue colour from Orange ? I wanna do same in my 09 Astra
It's a lot different in the astra H. Have a look for my page on fb. Lumitech Conversions and I can sort you a price.

if you find the vids a little slow watch it on 1.5x speed and its much better
Pretty getto looking Mot centre there .
Do U just love Vauxhall?
Er, he also owns a Ford so I’d say he likes mainstream manufacturers :)
Worth fixing it
Great video mate repair it
Youd should really complain to DVLA about the test station if they've marked a dangerous fault when there isn't one. Don't seem very clued up over there!

It is. If its fitted it will fail.
No rear wiper is not part of the MOT test
No not at all. Some vehicles don't even have one.

amazing youtuber!!!!, I've learnt so much from you 😊
Can someone help me? How did he change the clock colour for orange to blue? Please help?
Terry Lake did you find out how?
He must have changed the bulbs
Car was never retested after this fail
My car failed it MOT as well
My to... Rack leaks(major defects)
As I’ve stated above in a comment if the leak isn’t 75mm in diameter within 5 minutes then it’s an pass and advise!
I thought now, you can't drive a car away from the garage after failing an MOT without risking a large fine?
2500pound fine
I believe there's different levels of faults that can lead to a fail. It's only the more dangerous ones you can't drive the car with. My wheel bearing failed but I was allowed to take it away for repairs and returned it a week later fur 're test.
Has to be towed away or picked up.
As a tester we advise you not to drive it, but if you want to take it away and you have an accident then it’s rip dreams.

Unless it's a rack leak . Other than that seems not a not . Lights must be clouded . Old bangers there not worth the bother
Definitely not a banger and definitely not food for the crusher.
Oil leak is still a fail if its dripping
Liam Gill wrooooong don’t talk if you don’t know only a fail if it’s bigger than a 5cm circle in 10mins of running the engine
what you got for dinner?
Mot is bs. Next day something could go wrong. Waste of money imo.
MOT is a good thing for people that don't look at their car and don't notice bad and old suspension parts or bad bearings

Not necessarily

buy a car trailer, get it MOTd, ebay £500 sounds fair.
Sorry to say this but kinda hoping it would fail cos it means more content for the channel. 😂. But sad for u of course!!
