Awesome looking Tele. Get yourself a small mallet with the black and yellow heads. Cheap at Princess Auto. Use it to pound in the string ferrules and tuner bushings.
A very informative video, to be sure. I should have searched Amazon for a video like this when I built the Telecaster I did several years ago. Mine turned out fine without it, but it would have definitively saved me one big headache. When I turned the amp on it was extremely loud with electrostatic noise. So loud that it couldn't be left that way. I realized at that time, that I forgot the one ground wire to the body of the guitar. Once I added the ground wire, it was actually very quiet. I got that copper shielding tape, and shielded all of the guitar cavities. Some of the parts I used different were, roller string trees. I used locking tuners, and individual saddles. But, I decided to use individual saddles, only for intonation reasons. The others like the one's in this video look more traditional. The cost is not much different for either. That part really just depends on what look you are going for. So anyone who thinks you need to be a professional, I can back this gentleman up here on this video. You do not need to be a Luthier. This guy did a solid job on this guitar, and so can you!
I see everyone’s suggestions for tapping in the tuner bushings but you could also use you clamps to ease them in or a smaller clamp with protection for the wood surfaces. White is neutral, black and red are hot
Eric Clapton had a telecaster that looked a lot like this one. He played it live at Hyde Park in '69 with Blind Faith. Maybe you have seen and heard it before. Great tone from that guitar and he used the neck pickup or both the whole time. I don't know if his was the early wiring or normal wiring.
Says basically people are going to complain about doing another telecaster…. His response “it doesn’t matter”😂😂…. Dude, I subscribed yesterday and enjoy your content and your humor! Great video, thanks!

You can take Sharpie off a lot of plastics/other stuff with a Dry Erase Marker. Just draw over it and wipe with a paper towel. The guitar looks awesome, sounds great on Where Is My Mind and Paranoid Android. I took the Yosemite Humbucker Neck (Too Muddy)/Tele Bridge (sounded good) set out of my Performer and threw in a Twisted Tele set with a 4 Way Switch based on your build videos.
ya those dry erase markers will take anything off. the chemicals in them are kind of scary. Ya Twisted Tele are awesome. I'm possible thinking of a p90 in the neck of this one in the future.

When I drill into any finished wood surface I clamp a thin piece of wood over the spot I want to drill and any lift from the drilling happens to the piece I throw away instead of the actual headstock leaving a perfect hole on the instrument...you do good work Landon...
@@landonbailey It wouldn't have to be if it were marked and clamped in the right spot but it would still protect from lift...I use something like a piece of cedar shake would that's not two thick..I think either way you'd get the same result as the clamps would keep the surface wood from bubbling up..or firring

Hey there! that's a good question. I'm thinking of maybe putting a P90 eventually, which sometimes calls for a 1K pot. However, to add a humbucker, you'd need a different pickguard with the humbucker slot, then ya it would be a pain to change out the 250K pot (and 1K in my case)

I have a tele that I need to set the action on and it looks like none of these handy gauges have 1.6 marked on them. Thanks from the EaSt Coast eh!!
cheers! yes 1.6 I probably meant to say it during the video.
@@landonbailey most excellent! Thank you Sir!
Landon, Is it possable to get a Roadworn neck with a tele headstock and 9.5 radius? If not RW do you know of an alternative?
I think they only do the 7.25 " radius. What were you looking for in terms of alternative, like a comparable neck finish feeling?
@@landonbailey yes. I’ve been eyeing a butterscotch nitro build with roasted or aged 9.5 neck.
Doing a GREAT JOB

GLARRY MUSIC CANADA
thanks Mike!
cannot tuna fish i laughed my ass off!!
You could have used a block of wood and a hammer to properly seat those tuner bushings, other than that, a really nice looking guitar build.
Thanks for the tip
Yep black felt in that guitar
same!
Post before watching - I am hoping for stop motion at some point. loves stop motion.
😄 not in this one!
@@landonbailey considering you spent anywhere from 60-90 hours editing this awesome video I will forgive it. This time ;)
@@SeanAllocca ha ya. this one took a ton of time :)
What do you do with all these projects flip them?
Most of them so far yes
@@landonbailey interesting, I just did my first build a fiesta red Strat, came out extremely well (used Gary Moore’s Strat as inspiration) & I enjoyed the process so I was wondering if there was a market for nice well thought out partscasters. ✌️
That is a really cool build. Nice choice on color. I sure wouldn't shun it away for sure.
Thanks 👍
best commentary ever !
I keep it real
What a fantastic video and 'how to' :)
Thank you! Cheers!
Why a Telec Custom ( Strat) neck on two single coils?
Tele Deluxe! because Telecaster 👍🎸😁
New word for Landon-Built: "Assembuild"
That being said; what was the total cost for this Assembuild?
that's the word. check out the total here: imp.i114863.net/x9Q5qd
Landon, if you ever get a "Nick" in your "Relic" Telecaster, you won't be able to take it into town to get fixed. Why? Because they live in "Gibsons".
vintage-style split shaft tuners are the best tuners
what does best mean?
@@landonbailey for me, easist to restring and also pretty handy for quickly doing something under the hood and popping them back on
Are 9 -42 still okay for downtuning? Still not sure if I like 10-46 and I play in drop C a lot.
I don't know. I only tune standard
@@landonbailey fair enough, some of the bands I like I have to down tune a good bit for their songs Eg :Seether, Killswitch Engage, Three days grace, Red Jump Apparatus. Ect
when I try to learn a new song and I see it's a step down or drop D, I usually get turned away because of laziness
@@landonbailey haha
Holy Moose, that's a lot of chapters...looks like a badly fragmented hard drive back in the day...anyone remember HDDs ? you won't find them on Tikfok. Great video so far (6:53min in...). Since I should be sleeping already, this should help and then I'll rewatch what I already memorized in my half-sleep like a lazy hound with one brain side asleep and the other side alert at all times.
🤣 my chapters have chapters
@@landonbailey here comes the bad part: I didn't fall asleep but actually watched it through the end....
Eight.... zillion... likes... way to raise the bar for the rest of us! ;-)
they told me a million times to stop exaggerating made up numbers like that
I got the Relic joke!
🎸🇨🇦🤪
I haven't heard anyone mention the Beachcombers in 25 years. lol
:) it was the only thing on Sunday night
What another telecaster? What? Thanks!
I might want to do this.
😆 I'm looking to maybe do a Jazzmaster next time. we'll see
To be honest I like road worn on on old well played guitars it's getting 😤😤 a bit boring as everyone is overdoing it on new guitars .
I saw the title and thought another tele?! And then you address it in the first few lines of the video. You do have a problem though you know that right? 😂
🤣 it's an ok problem
"I got the joke" - sincerely, Nick Adonidas
nice! 🇨🇦👍🎸🌳🌲
Jonathon, Michael, and Steve 🤦🏻♂️🤣😂🤣
My gal is Red Hot. Your gal ain’t doodly squat.
WOW! you really killed on this Build Landon. Now this is the kind of content I dont mind paying for. wait, Im not paying for content. But now if I was paying for content, this content, I wouldn't mind paying for. As long as it doesn't go over $1.25 cause honestly that would be too much for any content. except if Jesus uploaded it. LOL
🤣😆🎸👍
Your comment made me so content I had to comment.
Dude , you funny !
I try
Lol you are ! Now I want to modify all my guitars
I hate soldering. The first time I did it I burnt my ear.
did the phone ring? 😁😆
@@landonbailey no not quite - but I did learn that if your nose is itchy you should your left hand.
Blah blah bleh
let me know which part so I can add the timestamp
This guy can barley speak. He cant complete a sentence without making a mistake. Some people just shouldnt make videos
This commenter Hops to conclusions when insulting people. Some people shouldn’t leave comments
Dude, heaps of people love Landon's vids and content. He is a breath of fresh air and just keeps things real. The irony is you're calling out someone on not being able to speak (which is not true) and yet your grammar and spelling is atrocious.
from start??????building?....not...only setup
Shouldn't the ferrules be flush with the wood surface?
not always
