Thanks for a superb video; I've often thought the RC30 was one of Hondas best-looking racebikes. As a serial VFR owner, I think I still prefer the crank and firing order which give the unique sound to the VFR.
Yeah, gorgeous little bike - would I want one? Yeah, if I had the money literally lying around. Could I ride it often? Probably not - it requires IL4 levels of high RPM action to really get going - so utterly useless on 95% of UK roads. My white VFR (the one in front of the RC30 I'm on in this video) has a lot more low down torque and arguably isn't that far behind up top due to the jet kit and exhaust setup.
I've an RC30 & a VFR800 (RC46), and often ride them back-to-back. The '30's high bottom gear slows it off the line, but everywhere else it just murders the 800. Jumping from one to the other simply highlights the fact that one is a tourer and the other a racer. (..oddly, the RC's smaller engine is the more flexible of the two, and will pull top gear from lower revs than the 800 - which needs a minimum of 3,000rpm not to snatch. The 750 is smoother throughout the rev-range too - but for a brief 'rough patch' at around 7,000rpm!) By way of comparison, I find the RC46 engine a bit 'buzzy' all-round when the revs pick-up. (I should add: my RC30 isn't being stifled by an OEM exhaust).
I'm up north near Newcastle, so a long way from you! I'll probably get round to making a back-to-back video comparison myself at some point; who knows? I love my RC46 as a 'go to' all-rounder, but the '30 is a step above it in most respects re. performance. Horses for courses, I suppose.
stealthystevie its a wonderful bike, wonderful engine, looks wonderful.. I'd have one in a heart beat. You should join the Facebook page I frequent, search for vfr750 rc36. Everyone's an rc30 nut on there so join in :)
cbr 600 rr Chevy Tahoe LT not as quick off the line as my 36, but then I didn't really rag it as it's not my bike as it's worth a few quid more than I have spare in the bank haha. It's a great bike, no denying that. Gorgeous too.

bit of a bum clencher at 9,44. The bike sounds excellent, is it standard?
I agree, especially with poor brakes.
Is the RC 30 real good on the take off ?
