- I have waited long enough before doing this review. Now that we all know that Rolex has not discontinued this watch, I want to discuss a few things on my mind. This is the famed watch that everyone credits it's success to that famous John Mayer interview. Yes he said that it could be the next big thing. And yes he is a very predominant watch collector who has a very iconic watch collection. But... I also feel that this watch stands on its own. There is no coincidence that the green Submariner Hulk and pretty much everything green became popular in this same era. I feel that there is no substitution to the fact that it's just a really nice watch. How can we go wrong with anything yellow with such a striking green dial. I have said it before and I will say it again. Green IS the new blue. This watch is here to stay and exclusivity will keep prices way up in the sky.

I have a Ceramic Black Dial LN Daytona and got it at retail back in 2018. Still love it like I did the day I got it. But MAN this yellow gold with Green Dial is just STUNNING!! Fantastic video as always brother.

The Daytona is a great watch but to be completely honest I’m getting a bit tired of the Daytona hype. I used to really really want one but now not so much anymore. I hope my Pepsi on oyster will arrive soon though 😉 Great video as always Eric 👌👊

Eric, great video, awesome watch. I currently have the Daytona 116509 with Blue Dial, I would love to get a yellow gold piece but i would feel worried about wearing it as it is so flashy and attracts so much attention. The white gold flies under the radar, and only a watch enthusiast knows what it is.

How amazing did it feel to walk out of the AD paying retail? I almost did a backflip when I got my new Kermit last week with no purchase history. It's like the salesman gave you a winning lottery ticket. You win! Congrats! Don't sell!

I'd still buy it at a premium as it is such an ostentatious watch with its unique green dial. Production is very limited - actually even more so due to the pandemic - and I am pretty sure they gonna discontinue it in the next 2-3 years. I definitely consider it as a good investment with very limited downside risk.

John Mayer absolutely made that watch. It was out for years, selling under retail, until he talked about it. He’s great for the watch market.

Can be said for the Hulk when first released. The black sub was more sellable than the hulk. Green is the new trend and has nothing to do with John Mayer. He is just another guy who likes green like most do now.

I agree it’s weird to think one guy would have an impact on price watch however, it’s a well known fact these green dials were siting on ADs shelves for a long time unsold. I personally think watches are the new ‘Share portfolio’ investment scheme hence prices will continue to rise… but that’s just my opinion

I am an Daytona Boy, i love it all and i go lucky, i have all colors in my collektion.
steel white with and black without ceramic, white gold blue, rose gold rose diamond, yellow gold green, platinum with diamond dial .
I have to admit, out of all the watch videos on TH-cam, your videos are the clearest and capture the luster of the metals/dials. I'm sure part of it has to do with the sunny Sofla weather/backdrop. However, whatever your filming with, I need to know . What camera are you using Eric?

Hey Eric, if you had the dilemma of you can only own avg cars (camry etc) but you can own any luxury watches, or, can only own avg watches (timex, Casio, and low end seiko orient etc) but can own any cars. ...which would you choose?

What makes this watch and all the other watches way over price is the dealers selling to one another and all wanting that 5/10% on top, and then paying to much for them to let them go down! There’s hundreds of desirable watches out there on the market and to many dealers trying to get in on the action! Still love the content though! 👍🏻

Daytona Paul Newman and a ap 5980-1r001 are my 2 dream watches minus a few tourbillions I'd like to get my hands on. I'd also love to see a Nautilus skeleton. I can't wait to be able to focus on my watch my collection I think my first real purchase will be something I can wear as a daily that I'm in love with the looks not what will happen with value like a stainless ap skeleton royal oak

But this watch was readily available at Rolex stores until Mayer talked about this watch then it shot up in price almost day after and then became impossible to get at stores. So yes, the Mayer effect did do something for this watch.
Eric, Rolex don’t make sports models, they only produce a professional range.

Hulk, Daytona Green, H. Moser Green, Pieget Polo S, Omega Seamaster 300, Grand Seiko Green, Breitling Cronomant and Premier Green, Tudor Black Bay Bezel Green, Patek Aquanaut Green, IWC Annual Calendar were released before 2020 and are very original . They are not the product of a fad ...

The hype has probably been at dealers, if you look at chrono24 you can soon fertilize with green / gold Daytona, so many for sale right now.😎
