Joseph Hernandez I think Jackie’s take on it was anna would have integrity and dignity knowing she handled it the way her mother would have and knowing her mother would’ve been proud that way would make Anna proud 🤷🏻♀️But Isabell gave her quick satisfaction I don’t know maybe both was a good idea Technically it was long-term versus short-term satisfaction
As someone who was bullied, the fact that the step parent of all people does more then the parent does in this situation make me smile so much. I've always gotten the advice of "Just ignore them" but bullies don't stop just because you ignore them, that only tells them no one will stop them. I love this scene because Julie Robert's character wants to do right by her stepdaughter and teach her to stand up for herself even if she gets a little help in the process. Not only is the bully shot down the step daughter now learns she can stand up for herself and not be pushed around. This is real parenting even if it's a stage show.
@MadMan1408 it's explained in the movie. They weren't actually dating, they were just saying they were so they could act out this whole drama type thing, including one dumping the other. It just happened that he did it first, and not only that, he did it in front of all her friends, completely humiliating her.
itsjemmabond ya that is true. There was still a couple of moments here and there where she was rude to Isabel after that though. Either way, regardless it is important that she had a good relationship with her stepmom.
Throw jeleousy down the gutter ladies. I rather have my son or daughter being loved by step-mom than her hating him. I rejoice that my son and step-mom love and care for each other. My son now is 31 and she's still their 4 him wife and my self she's their more than ever knowing I have cancer I lv her so😊
I wish good step moms for all children. My husband had 2 total step moms, and one of them was awful to him. Made him feel like a nuisance, with her own 3 kids. The other step mom had no children of her own, and made my husband feel at home. He was a teen by that point, but he still talks about her and how appreciative he was. She'd make his favorite meals when he was with them for the week. Thst goes a long way in making a kid/teen feel welcome.
I don't think that was jealousy from Mom but rather not agreeing with Isobell's way of handling this and being annoyed with them going ''behind her back'', so to speak
Ever since I first watched this movie as a young girl I always had the biggest crush on the model who played the " stone fox "...… Just in case anyone was wondering his name Is Charlie Christman.
I completely agree. Remember the scene with the concert?? How Isabelle mentioned and Jacki was like “she is too young and it’s a school night.” And then she went behind Isabelles back and got the tickets. But yet she did have cancer and was dying so I see where she would be the way she was. She just wanted to make Isabelle feel guilty. But it made her feel horrible to see her daughter connecting with Isabelle knowing she was dying
@@SouthernBelleWhisper Jackie wanted to assert her authority as Anna's mother; I also think that Jackie selfishly wanted to have that concert and memory for Anna to look back on, as mother and daughter, and for her to not have it with Isabel, to be like, "We are going to have this memory together, not you (Isabel)," and "my mom was so cool, she took me to a concert on a school night!" when she passes away. I can see both sides of why it was wrong of Jackie to do that.
@@MochiColorsZanos I have no idea, I remember when I initially looked him up I only found a couple things on him which were just this movie and and some modeling photos and that was it.
***VIXEN *** lol I am so glad that google wasn’t a thing when this movie first came out. I was traumatised as an adult when I discovered what snow blowing was...... I can only imagine what I younger self would have thought 😱

There are ways people deal with bullying. Some prefer to use their intellect to outwit them or turn their friends against them. Others are more upfront about it, such as beating them up or telling a teacher or parent.

This movie is one of the saddest movies I’ve ever seen. Such a pity they named the movie Stepmom though. I think it was supposed to be titled “We Are Family” or “Promises Kept” They only named it Stepmom to bank off Julia Roberts after the wild success of My Best Friend’s Wedding

All Isabelle was trying to do was to teach Ana how to stand up for herself
Crystal Champion I agree, but her mom didn’t see it that way 🤔
Crystal Champion I do wish that model had done a little more to be convincing-
Exactly. Jackie's way of handling it was PG rated, but Isabel's way was better.

Isabel is a true version of what a stepparent should be. She loves her husbands children like there her own.

My favorite scene was of them singing and dancing to the song ain't no mountain high enough that lil boy is so cute!
both scenes for me, the model should have planted a huge kiss on her make it look real...
The '90s brought us some good "wicked stepmom" movies-but it also brought us this.

Julia Roberts
