My 15 year old daughter was inspired by your videos, so she started building her own shelter this past autumn (the weather turned rainy and bitter cold, so she only got it halfway finished). But now her cousins are interested too...so she is excited for spring to arrive so they can all spend the night in it.
Thanks for being an inspiration to young girls! I've always loved camping and being outdoors, but it helps to see other strong, independent women who enjoy it too!

I liked the video. One of the things I liked is the feeling that it was one of those days when things don't go right, that was not edited out before posting. The problems with getting the fire going, the spoon, night fishing, lost fish trap are things that happen everyday. Lilly just kept on trooping. It was great.

That was awesome Lilly! Great to see an overnight vid at the camp. I really liked the DIY torch light in the plastic container. Also, the fact you didn't give up on the bow drill fire was testament to your determination and willingness to never give up! I could see you really enjoyed time at camp. Thanks for the video - Mike

In my youth we camped in the snow to be adventurous in scouting ! That was in the 70's ..back in the day they say ! I was cold ! my scoutmaster asked what do i wear to bed in your sleeping bag ...well a few layers I said. He went on to say wear one layer and a warm cap. Solved the problem , snug as a bug ! Continue your awesome videos ! Love them ! Peter

This was one of your best videos from the perspective of a survivalist.
Being able to create a fire when your life may depend on it is something that the arm-chair survivalists need to understand.
All theory and no practice can kill you.
And that is what made this video so valuable.
Unscripted reality of just how difficult this basic survival skill can be.

So when you were talking about the air tunnel and less smoke it reminded me of my own firepit. I plan on rebuilding it this spring (original one when I moved in is not all that good) and I found buried by my shed an old large ceramic 90. I think using that to make an air tunnel for the firepit will make it burn better and have less smoke as you just stated and I am excited to reuse old materials that I found around the home!

That's an amazing bugout roll to keep small gear accessible and organized. My husband doesn't think we need any of this stuff, so I'm getting by with ziploc bags to organize stuff in our BOBs. Talked him into keeping them in the cars in case of breakdowns and accidents.

Awesome video Lilly:). Way to never give up on the fire start. So many people tell me they are prepared because they have supplies and are ready....but when I ask if they practice with their supplies they don’t have good answer. Your video shows so much how practicing is needed and if someone thinks they can just live this way when the SHTF then they can be mistaken. Thank you for your teaching:)

By coincidence, I have been working on my spoon carving (at home) just as you released this video: we have to work with wood...but sometimes it doesn't want to work with us. I have had my share of 'split ends.' The 'burned bowl' technique is not so common so I was interested in your demonstration. No matter how many real or virtual campfires we have seen, it is always worthwhile to see another one.

My 1st suggestion, Lil, is that you might try Pruning Shears, they cut small branches a lot easier than the saw; also, 2nd, consider a poly foam pad to lay your bed on, it gives you an almost 0 conducive barrier between you and the ground. 3rd, your night light is brilliant, in more ways than one; you could use it for your night fishing and it could work better than a flaming torch.

Your torch on the water is great idea. The water proof Lantern that you made would be perfect to float on the water same concept as the torch but it wouldn't go out. I night fish with lights that way in Tennessee and it does draw fish, Bait fish come and big fish follow.. the waterproof Lantern you made is great and when I saw your torch on the water that's the first thing I thought of. I bet it would work perfect tie off to it and let it float, you can even cast it with another rod

to help you with the embers making fire use a bit of flexable tubing with a bit of copper tubeing ... blow into the flex tubeing put the copper tubing end next to the ember ... that keeps your face away from the smoke while you are starting the fire.

And keep grinding until more smoke come out. This time we will add bigger items and grind it for a little longer, then the fire will show. almost 100% chance will get a fire. let me try and see if your way will work better.

Love your work, way cool lantern you can use it to attract fish too. We use one when night fishing in the boat, tons of fish come swimming up to it. I think it might have to do with the depth of the water being in a lake rather than the creek.

Even the candle gave you trouble at the end! I've had days like that.

It's helpful to see fails as well as successes. I also appreciated your take on phones. I have a non-smartphone and like the fact that I'm not tied to it. I've been with so many people who are checking their phones all the time.

This was a great video. I have watched your channel for a long time and always like your videos but after all of the preparations it is great to see what using the camp can look like. I also love that you share your successes and setbacks so it’s easier to keep going when we try and things don’t work the first time. It also makes it feel real and let us cheer for you when it works.

Been there done that with bow drill challenges. Good for you for sticking to it. I was teaching a class in high-altitude and boy was it a challenge to get a fire going at 9000 feet. Good job kiddo.

The first song you whistled was from Banana Joe, with Bud Spencer, the actual theme song I believe.
