Most of 9-5 work is very intense at the beginning of the week but by mid week it dies down which is ideal for us especially if you work from home. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday is when you should attempt "Low Energy Tasks", whereas Thursday, Friday should focus on "High Energy Tasks". That way you won't burn out and can still have a life. Listening to relevant podcasts/TH-cam videos while at work counts as Low Energy Tasks whereas High Energy Tasks are things like Video Recording/Editing. IF you burnout by Tuesday you will not be motivated to get anything done in the week which is why pacing yourself is key to staying consistent. Another point is to get really good at automising your workload - you should know the day to day of your 9-5 like the back of your hand. Do not attempt to do this if you are new to your job or haven't passed probation.
LOVED THIS! Balancing my 9-5, mom life, life AND creating content can be a lot. I found taking my time back from things that are not as important (aimless scrolling on Instagram). I’m also a night owl cos my little bubba. I love the compartmentalising your day idea 👏🏽
Absolutely!! That fact we’re both balancing so many responsibilities whilst still being consistent babes. It just proves what can be achieved through discipline and intention. I love this for us! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Hi Montelle, I’m just catching up on your 12 week videos and journey and just wanted to say thank you so much for making this video! I retrained as a teacher a couple of years ago and, whilst I absolutely love my job, it hasn’t killed the dreams of becoming a writer and entrepreneur so I still have lots of goals outside of my regular work (as lots of us do). I ALWAYS feel that there are never enough hours in the day and that if only I didn’t have to work I could achieve so much… Well I’m on summer holidays and so far I’ve spent 4 weeks (I’m in Scotland) sleeping in, procrastinating, meeting 0 goals and, mostly, beating myself up for not achieving enough! During term time I plan my meals, eat really well, exercise regularly, actively work towards goals and squeeze in time to work on skills and personal development, all while wishing I had more time and day dreaming about what I’d do with more. Turns out I too really need the routine and need to continue to develop my self discipline. Thank you for putting this into words and validating this feeling! I’m loving the 12 week year, keep up the amazing work! X
You’re so welcome Kirsten! Thank you for sharing this. I know it can be tough to get into a routine but I’m glad these videos have inspired you ❤️🙌🏾 sending love!!!
I’m so grateful that I landed on this video. I honestly forgot about how Ed mylett described his days and was getting a little confused between his process and the 12 week year. Honestly I realize that both will be super useful to structure myself as I prepare to go back to a 9-5. Also, super congrats on being at 103k at the time of this comment. It’s been awesome watching you achieve your goals during the past few months
This is such an important skill! Definitely something that is needed in our community, especially single mothers ❤ I don't have a 9-5 job but I do have multiple projects I work on so I always do energy work in between projects to reset and start with new fresh energy. Thx
New subbie 😁 As someone who works a demanding 9-5, starting a TH-cam channel, and a mom, it can get busy and overwhelming at times. I can appreciate this vlog.
I definitely needed this video as a part time masters student and full time business analyst, I literally have no energy to do school work in the evenings. Just subscribed! 🎉
