Hi Mike, Fantastic video from the Narrow Gauge Railway, Durango & Siverton. I'm a big fan of the narrow gauge steam locomotives, especially the types C 19, K27, K28, K36 and K37. The 4-4-0 Eureka and the Galoping Goose are also included, as well as the Mogul locomotives. Beautifully filmed, top class video. Thank you for showing and greetings from Germany.
Great video Mike it’s been a while since 478 operated. Hopefully we’ll have all 3 K28 locomotives operate again someday but for now engines 473 and 476 are in operation while 478 is on display at the Durango and Silverton museum
@@CoasterFan2105 me too when I made my only trip to Durango back in August 2004 I recall 478 leading the first of the three trains to Silverton and I got to take a picture of it while me and my dad were sightseeing in town before we were to board the second train, which was our train and was pulled by 480. It’s interesting the day before engine 482 lead a special charter train on the evening when we settled into our camp site, and (where are the trucks run right through the camping area slightly North of the 32nd St., crossing which before the Safetran bell had an older western Cullen Hayes bell) flying American flags and trailing was bobber caboose 0500. That will be my only visit back when the entire steam locomotive roster was coal fired. Probably sadly something I would never experience again due to these changing times but at least I did get to see engine 478 in person There once was a time that the railroad ran five train the day for Trains to Silverton and the fifth train to Cascade Canyon when I visited the railroad in 2004, that number had reduced to three trains to Silverton, and now that number has reduced to two trains to Silverton with a third train to Cascade Canyon
Oh wait, it just takes like 10 minutes for the last part of that sentence to come up - it shows up at 7:48, a good 6 minutes and 22 seconds after that sentence is spoken.
The fact that this steam railroad of the late 1800s is still around is so impressive
I agree with you
It's a pretty impressive place!

The whistle on 478 (forgot the model) kind of reminds me of the Lima 5 Chime on Sierra Railway 3
It’s a D&RGW 5 chime. 481 wears that whistle now but only operates in the off-season
Truly one of the videos of all time. This guy is amazing, I've been watching him for about 6 years. And he is still a great railfan. Great job, Mike.
Thanks so much! Really appreciate it.
The Durango Silverton is the 8th wonder of the world.
One of these days I'll make it out tho this part of the country and check out this railroad....
Yeah man, I can't believe you've never been before! You definitely should go at some point!
Nice camera angles, picking up the whistle echos of the 478. Can’t wait for 478 to rolling again with the oil conversion
Thank you, Mike! It will be nice to see all three surviving K-28s under steam some time again.
Happy 2023, Mister Mike Armstrong
The beautiful Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. With their own wonderful steam locomotives.
Indeed! Thanks for watching!
This is Why I Really, Really ❤ Every American Steam Locomotives and/or Every American Steam Trains The Most 🚂🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋
This brings back so many memories of me when I was 6 and watched this at school in 1st grade!
It's definitely a neat railroad!
Steam engines are mesmerizing!
That they are!
Beautiful video. Enjoyed watching all the sights and sounds. Have a great rest of your Friday.(Steve)
Great video, Mike. Thanks for a real treat.
Thanks, Douglas! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I'll be honest, I'm note a huge narrow gauge fan, but I really want to see this railroad in person some day.
This railroad is enough that I can personally guarantee that it will change your mind on the narrow gauge!
Rode the D&SNGR back in the summer of 2021 and it was awesome. Our train was pulled by engine 480. Amazing video as always.
Awesome! It's definitely a fun ride!
Beautiful thumbnail. Love the D&S
Thank you! It's a great railroad.
EUREKA with a baggage car and NOMAD would be a "to kill for" train that would look like 1883. The GLENBROOK would also make a nice 1880s train.
Happy Friday, Mister Mike Armstrong

Many thanks, Wolfgang. I've been a long time fan of the Rio Grande narrow gauge trains as well. Glad you enjoyed the video!

Durango silverton steams fevorite
Super cool steam engines
Nicky’s dad Richard reminds him of the scene 🎬 in Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid.
Great Video
Thanks!
It's amazing that these beautiful workhorses are still around pulling passengers in the 21st century! Does anyone know why 478 has that strange plow?
Hmmm...To plow snow.
That is a Rio Grande style snow pilot. I believe they were built in house by the railroad.
@@CoasterFan2105 Cool! Thanks for telling me! I wasn't sure if it was just a strange pilot or a plow.
It’s beautiful how it all started in the 1800s!
Great video!!
Thank you!
Durango and Silverton.
Fantastic video
Thank you!
Hey! How are you? I am from Brazil. In which month of the year was this train ride taken? The color of the river water is very beautiful!
Great video, Mike. How nice it would be if they would do this again.
It would, it was a great looking train. I'd also like to see 473 in the bumble bee scheme. Thanks!
Sweet catches. 🙂👍🏻❤️
Thnaks!
Was this for me? I said make a video about all Durango train shots.
Fantastic video! Can you show me where I can see those trains? It’s very cool!
Thanks! The railroad is based out of the town of Durango, Colorado. It's in the Southwest corner of the state.
Awesome video 👍😎❄️🇺🇸🚂
Thanks, Patrick!
What is it about trains that make us love them so much??
Amazing.
Thanks!
Happy New Year, Mister Mike Armstrong

Awesome video!
Nice Compilation! My channel has a bunch of videos of the DSNGRR too out and about in Durango
Red dead redemption 2 in real life lol
The Werewolves of London.
14:02 what is that huffing sound?
Steam driven air compressor on the locomotive. Used for the train braking system.
What happened to the audio
Does the Durango and Silverton still do their railfest or have they stopped doing it
I don't think they've done it for a few years now, but it's possible it will come back at some point.
I Am Never Pressing The TH-cam Video Dislike Button Forever
The captions are missing the end of your last sentence - they stop at “during” and miss the “the 2013 railfest event.”
Oh wait, it just takes like 10 minutes for the last part of that sentence to come up - it shows up at 7:48, a good 6 minutes and 22 seconds after that sentence is spoken.
The rest of the captions are fine.
Hey, Mr. Mike Armstrong, Could You Upload A "NEW" TH-cam Video About "Steam Train Engineers", Mr. Mike Armstrong ? ? 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
You don't see steamys much these days
In 2:04 that looks familiar
