They say rejection is the name of the game in the acting industry. Most feel like utter crap when they don't book a role they don't want, but to me it shows progress. You're getting out there, you're putting in the work, you're proving that with every audition that doesn't book. The more you get used to that feeling, the better. I wanted to be an actress my hole life. When I was a little kid I had almost a regular career in the TV industry in Japan, and I was loving it. Great video!! I agree 100%. As of late, I haven’t been booking ANY gigs. And I’ve tried so hard, for so many years. I started making little TH-cam videos on my channel, and through grinding at day jobs and many sacrifices, made it to LA. After moving, I landed a student film I did for FREE, and a small voiceover gig for $50 in a short alongside an actor who is now a lead in Abbott Elementary. And since that January of 2020…? Absolutely NOTHING. And it’s weird - I know I’m better at acting now. But now I’m in a bigger town, with more competition than ever - there’s professional veterans auditioning for the same student films I could easily land back in my hometown. I just did an actors boot camp and met managers and agents….and the people who bothered to answer me, gave me rejections about how they won’t sign me. I’m chubby, I’m Latina/Middle Eastern, and I don’t have years of classical training. I don’t feel like there’s any place for my dreams in the real world and some days I wonder if I’d have been happier leaving them as a dream, because then I didn’t have to know I tried and I failed. It’s hard. I’ve started losing faith. So I’m changing my mindset! The audition IS the fun. When you’re really trying to act it ends up becoming so much BUSINESS. Auditions are going to end up being the only times you get to act…enjoy them. Work hard on them. Don’t see it as failure. When artists paint in their sketchbooks they don’t think, “I didn’t sell this for $1 mil, it’s crap,” they enjoy the piece in their sketchbook. Or they see it as something to grow. So even if it’s just deafening silence for the rest of my life on these auditions…even if I’m only ever in little videos I make myself…that’s acting. And that’s what I wanted. Thank you SO much for making this video. I (and no doubt other struggling actors) needed to hear this, needed the reminder that as long as YOU know that you shows YOUR best work in your audition and remember the REALITY of it all- that the industry is hard in general, and you’re usually up against 100s, hey, maybe even 1,000s of other actors- then really don’t be too hard on yourself (and maybe have a side hustle to distract yourself from the rejection? 😅). 🙂♥️
You make some good points about why this career is very challenging and can be emotionally draining. It really made me thing about the importance of mindset. I like to think about rejection in a way that offers me positive momentum as a theatre actor. Every audition is a free class and an opportunity for me to practice my craft plus network with other creatives. Focusing on that mindset has helped me cultivate my dream career in theatre my entire life. Thanks again for sharing this thoughts.
Just got an email this week from a movie company that I applied to for a role. Although I didn't get the role, I'm so glad that I at least tried. And they said they'll consider me to audition for possible future projects! hat was an answer to prayer. I'm excited! But also nervous. If the day comes that I do audition for them, I just hope I do a really good job!
My first rejection happened when I was a freshman in high school. I auditioned for the show “Little Shop of Horrors” and I didn’t get a part. I had such a lack of self confidence that it left me discouraged for the rest of my high school career. I tried to find something else I wanted to do with my life but nothing ever peeked my interest because ever since I was a kid, I wanted to be an actor. When I got to college, I found an acting class and thought I’d give it another try. That first day of class, my professor reignited the fire in me to the point where I finally had the confidence to audition for a play she was directing at the university. Much to my surprise, I was casted in two separate roles and that was the moment my parents understood how much acting meant to me. After graduation, it took me a while to figure out how to keep working on my craft but I’m happy to say that I’ve been in nine community theater plays, working on my tenth, in my hometown of Indiana and rejection doesn’t phase me as much as it did when I was 15. Don’t let it get the best of you! Keep going ❤️
Bro, Once I audition I forgot about it completely. And IF I do get the role it's such a pleasant surprise because I put that audition in my rearview and am always thinking about the next audition and how I can improve every time.
This video has inspired me to do better because I’m studying acting in college and I always have so much low confidence and it puts pressure on me so I’m gonna take everything you said in this video and learn from it
I’m training to be an actor, luckily the one thing i can handle is rejection, i can’t take punches. I’m struggling in class rn to do a certain thing in our class but I’m working hard to get through that mental block bc acting is a huge sport emotionally and physically, it may take me longer to get better but it helps me understand it’s ok.
Oh wow Actors Academy . That narration ... I almost cried. No words to say what I'm feeling now.The best video ever. It really did motivate me. Thank you so much. I'm gonna do my best and never give up. Good luck everyone.
Well, yes is the hardest profession; very competitive, monopolize…yes..nothing is easy right now, location, location;,but , what puts me a smile in my journey, that the love for acting and creativity is only develop within each individual , and clothing is meant to be change day by day, and try something new ,fit and pleasant…we are not done …y e t. Thanks
Whoever you are i do wish you find success not only as an actor, but as a person as well, because you may be a great actor/actress but if you aren't growing as a person..... you'll never get anywhere... just remember, to find the one true path, one must seek guidance admits uncertainty.
The issue is why has acting become this facade of ideal fame and fortune. To begin with it was another form of art and entertainment. It doesn’t take away any hard roads you were going to face in your personal life.
It’s not that it’s only hard it’s that peoples bullshit gets in the way of their own responsibilities. They also keep using the same actors over and over and over. There are so many factors that you have to take into account.
@The Actors Academy. Hy I am 16 years old and I would just to thank you for the information and motivation you have given me to pursue my dreams of becoming an actor ❤️Hope you make it too👑
Oh my god, I'm 16 too, my dream is to become an actor. I'm going take my headshots next month, and i hope I'll make it one day, but it's difficut bcs of the place I live in, but I''ll do my best and I'll try not to give up. I wish you luck love.
So if I reframe reality and see each audition attempt as another moment of exposure therapy, then I'll gain the endurance and resilience and diligence? That sounds nice.
I know the Competition is really fierce in the Acting industry, anything in Performing Arts is very COMPETITIVE! Lots of people are competing for this!
7 January 2024: Excellent advice. One of my best drama teachers {S.S} once told me prior to the C.V pandemic that for unknown actors\actresses, most roles, 8 out of 10 you probably will not get anyway, but look at the positive on the roles that you did get.
You want the answer ? Just ONE word ✨NEPOTISM✨ There are tons of working actors trying their hardest, taking acting classes, workshops and doing indie films for free in the hopes to land a great role on a tv show or movie. When these potential roles are given to the kids of celebrities with little to no acting or industry training/experience it takes a job away from someone who has put the work in and would ultimately put on a better performance. Ryan Murphy from American horror story 🙄 Hollywood seems to have an addiction with celebrity 1st and talent 2nd. Sad but that’s the reality
Not necessarily, yeah Nepotism is common in the industry but claiming that’s the reality just undermines all the big entertainers that made it without it. You got to ask yourself if thousands of people make it every year without connections in the industry, what’s stopping you? Plus those Celebrities who get roles with no acting skills or experiences never make it that far in entertainment businesses. They may be used for a time being but the industry doesn’t make long term investment with talentless people, Nepotism or not.
Thank you bro. I filled out my first 30 submissions and got rejected. Got pinned twice and didnt book. I needed this so much. I'm not giving up. I know I got this
Here in portugal we have a lot of talented actors without work; but then we see the same faces (actors ) on every séries and soap operas over and over again. I think that the producers don' t like to cast "new talents"...
Oh yes, I understand you. We have such a small market, which is really sad and it is even harder because what you mentioned. Always the same faces or always the producers' friends or families getting the roles. Nepotism, nepotism and more nepotism. Very difficult... Even getting the chance to audition is so hard. It seems there is no hope for us.
Haha back in like 2014 I tried auditioning for a casting call ONCE in my life for a independent action movie that needs henchmen. No lines needed. Had to show a few acting lines myself for the audition even though there is no line or script for the role. Never got it and didn't even wanna try again.
The escapism into acting is often an underlying cowardness to face the painful truth of your own reality. You should be an actor and director of your own life rather than seeking somebody to direct you as a puppet on a stage.
If you don't fail you're not even trying-Denzel Washington If you failed remember his quote and never give up on your dreams, never give up on yourself 💙
I don't see how becoming an actor is much different for applying for any competitive job (besides it paying more obviously). Jobs typically look at experience, and it's safer to go with people who have big names in the industry already because you know what their acting range is like. Plus they can draw more attention to a movie - do you think Challengers or Euphoria would have gotten as much attention if Zendaya wasn't in them? Not to mention connections are everything in Hollywood. Same with any job - experience and connections get you far. Without those you'll probably face a lot of rejection
It may appear that way, but when you actually look at the numbers the results are staggering. 48.7% of artists make less than $5,000 a year from their art. You make more working at a fast food service working full time than you do an artist. There are 160,000 members in the union and many more actors who are not in the union. Out of just the union members only 12% of their UNION actors can afford health insurance, which requires something in the range of $26,000 It’s not like any other job, because your opportunity for success is drastically lower in this industry. Which is sad for those wanting to get into it, but it’s important to know these facts, because then you can at least navigate it (if you decide to) with a bit more knowledge than the average actor. Here is a link where I do a full breakdown if you are interested - th-cam.com/video/mcJvhKMObYU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=oCh53mjtgSROx7Dg
Although this Video is 2 Years Old, I am a New Actor, done quite a few Acting Classes and have done a lot of Auditions, it's a Waiting Game and a Rejection Game, and if you're all for that then Acting may be for you. But don't break down over Rejection or Fear, embrace it because Humans do Fail, that's just life.
I will be the best actor of all time because in my mind I will be the best. I will prove to everyone that I will make it. It’s a small dream. It’s who I am The prime of the competition is bout to begin and I love it I can’t wait to be history
Most successful actors, that is. And yes, most of the big name actors we see on the stage and screen got there by nepotism - that one factor is what truly separates great actors from successful ones.
Helen Kane had issues with Betty Boop but somehow grew successfully into that role. It was do successful, there were multiple Betty Boop actors to follow in her petition footsteps. In a sense, she helped create an early franchise, which can mean super success. Either way, the public liked her cabaret singing.
I wanted to become an actor since i was in my high school...i acted in college plays, everyone knew me i was famous, i used to dance, sing direct stage plays and short films... Then i moved to a big city was there for a year did some gigs in add and shows and even some national plays but....i quit cause it wasn't making me happy anymore
Also love the constant clips of Sylvester Stallone he’s a prime example you can make it into the industry regardless of age he was trying all those and years and didn’t give up he was about 33 years when he got his break for Rocky
My favourite celebrity Brie Larson (Room, Captain Marvel) made two videos on her youtube channel talking about her many failed auditions. Honestly, you rarely hear about failed auditions or how tough the life of an actor is. But it's important to know. Brie didn't give up although many of us would have. She only got small parts in a lot of movies. Some did quite well but she obviously wasn't a key part. In 2012, at age 23, Brie booked her first leading role in "Short Term 12", a low-paying indie project. It lead to her getting the role in "Room", a project that could easily been swallowed by Hollywood. She won many awards incl. an Oscar for that role. From then on, she got bigger roles, became Captain Marvel and now was able to do other things besides acting or to shoot her own movie. To hear this was eye-opening to me. If a normal person would go to a job interview and get rejected 5 times, he would do whatever. But Brie as an example tried over and over again, until the point when she almost quit acting, and she got very lucky that she found good roles at the right time that fitted her well.
I know I can be an actor. I literally lied or acted my way to a $40 an hour remote job. I had no experience or a degree….but I acted as if I did. I practiced and practiced my interview questions and answers until I memorized them and sounded confident. I definitely put on a performance 😂 we can all be actors tbh ❤

@carwashconnoisseur
I want to become and actress as well, and we can do this. I believe in us and Jesus's work. Keep going my friend. ❤
@@KarlieStamperI'd rather be a director, but yeah, if I do make it big, whether it is in acting, directing, business, politics or whatever, I'll always thank God for helping me make it big. 👍🏼
Thank you, this will give me the confidence to keep moving forward and never give up
Thank you SO much for making this video. 😅). 🙂♥️
Thank you❤️I really needed to hear this.
Beautifully said. Thank you
Thank you 💗
❤️
Just got an email this week from a movie company that I applied to for a role. Although I didn't get the role, I'm so glad that I at least tried. And they said they'll consider me to audition for possible future projects! hat was an answer to prayer. I'm excited! But also nervous. If the day comes that I do audition for them, I just hope I do a really good job!
Good luck buddy,I hope we can accomplish our goals
You are lucky. Most Auditions unless you get the role are never mentioned again. I think its very unfair to never get feedback for your work.
...I am not "crazy" after all...thank you for this words! ACTORS: SHOW MUST GO ON!!!
Problem with the acting industry is that I am not a neo baby
And roles keeps going to established actors even if they sucks.
This is my opinion, but honestly, most people pursuing acting just don't have what it takes to act at a professional level and they don't realize it.
Great
💯
Thank you !! Thank you buddy!! At this moment I just want to hug you and say thank you for these wonderful words!!!
WOW 2024 and glad I found this video!
Thank you as an actress and artist who is starting to get the first criticism in her career which was expected but it does hit, it helps, thank you

Vay burada bir Türk ü görmek ne güzel
This video has inspired me to do better because I’m studying acting in college and I always have so much low confidence and it puts pressure on me so I’m gonna take everything you said in this video and learn from it
I’m training to be an actor, luckily the one thing i can handle is rejection, i can’t take punches. I’m struggling in class rn to do a certain thing in our class but I’m working hard to get through that mental block bc acting is a huge sport emotionally and physically, it may take me longer to get better but it helps me understand it’s ok.
Man Ireally need this right now. thanks.
You’re very welcome, glad I could be there
Oh wow Actors Academy .

Much needed video for actors
The issue is why has acting become this facade of ideal fame and fortune. To begin with it was another form of art and entertainment. It doesn’t take away any hard roads you were going to face in your personal life.
It’s not that it’s only hard it’s that peoples bullshit gets in the way of their own responsibilities. They also keep using the same actors over and over and over. There are so many factors that you have to take into account.
Thank you
Double Thanks ☺️
Failure is the path to success no matter what kind! ❤
@@gerdaivadid you make it?
My friend, Thank you for this one.
Could you please tell me where can I ask out my questions to you regarding acting?...
This is a great point. Not sure it's sunk in, but I appreciate it.
So if I reframe reality and see each audition attempt as another moment of exposure therapy, then I'll gain the endurance and resilience and diligence? That sounds nice.
Excellent video!
Don’t be sad because you got rejected, be happy because you had the courage to face rejection
Or be happy cos they missed out on a good actor and they will soon regret their decision
@ Even better, iLike your way of thinking
Two of my sons are starting in the industry. I tell them the same thing. Thank you!
Im going through this patch hence youtubed it. Thank you buddy for making this video!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sometimes the most challenging part is to find auditions in the first place.
Thank you very much for this video😁
This is going to sound silly but i have faith in you guys and i hope you do wellツ
I have faith in you too, hopefully we can all see each other in our own film/show productions in the future :)))

Thank you very much for this❤
Haha back in like 2014 I tried auditioning for a casting call ONCE in my life for a independent action movie that needs henchmen. No lines needed. Had to show a few acting lines myself for the audition even though there is no line or script for the role. Never got it and didn't even wanna try again.
Dude I'm not even trying to be a actor and this is just motivated me
I needed this thank you
Hey I’m 18 and I started theater 2 years ago in my school. I have come a long way and I feel like it’s my calling.

@@TheActorsAcademygot my first hundo from doing a play I’m never giving up 🎉
The escapism into acting is often an underlying cowardness to face the painful truth of your own reality. You should be an actor and director of your own life rather than seeking somebody to direct you as a puppet on a stage.
Well damn
Don’t call me out like that 😂
THANK YOU

If you failed remember his quote and never give up on your dreams, never give up on yourself 💙
I’m good enough. I might be rejected a million times but that one time I’m booked will make it all disappear.
Thanks for advice on acting business
Great words brother!
Cheers mate thanks for that
@1:15 amen to that!
Out of just the union members only 12% of their UNION actors can afford health insurance, which requires something in the range of $26,000
It’s not like any other job, because your opportunity for success is drastically lower in this industry. Which is sad for those wanting to get into it, but it’s important to know these facts, because then you can at least navigate it (if you decide to) with a bit more knowledge than the average actor.

It’s who I am
The prime of the competition is bout to begin and I love it
I can’t wait to be history
well done! 👏🎬
most actors have parents who were or are famous actors already
The most difficult nowadays is to find interesting film projects to audition to.
